Really interesting. Absolutely love TE Lawrence. Very special character. The doctor that treated him after his motorbike crash was so devastated that he died from his injuries that he campaigned the government to have the compulsory wearing of crash helmets made law.
Awesome visiting the place of Lawrence Of Arabia! I wish to see that! Nice having the guides voice as well to add to the visit.Awesome video, I like you dual conclusion to the video as well as the photos, to pause and read! This is my favorite video now!
Bob those tanks were 432 APC armoured personnel carriers, which carry an infantry section plus a driver commander and L37 gunner. I actually learnt to drive these exactly the same route you saw them on back in 1987. Now replaced mainly by the Warrior AFV, which offers far more protection, speed and fire power. Sorry after 33 years in the army its hard to let go.
such an interesting video. Knew of the history but have never been inside his home. Thanks for a great tour and comments. p.s. was wondering what had happened-so miss our daily videos
I saw, was it David Lean's film several decades back, so I've forgotten so much. This video has inspired me to watch it again and do a bit of research. I do like a conspiracy theory. Loving the wee van.👍🖖🏴🏴🏴
Yes I was wondering if you were both ok, as no video. Sometimes good to have a break from our mobiles, ipads etc., enjoyed the walk around Lawrence’s cottage very interesting😊
Cloud Hill, an easy maintained design for living. I think a modern day Lawrence would have chosen the Bailey Alliance instead of Cloud Hill!. He would of course have needed a trailer for the Royal Enfield. The Bailey is perfect for couples. Or perfect for singles (maybe retired) who just want out, and just want simple. Sell up do it full time. Its something I am going to do hopefully. My old mates say "yes, give it a go", but I find the majority like to come up with every kind of negative. But it feels right for me. And that Bailey just looks right. Cheers Bob, really liked this vid.
Hi you do deserve a break from the internet I love when we go on our w/e away I don't even take my phone, I wonder what he would make of Syria today ,It did say on the board at the beginning he did not sleep there. I am not sure what Guirilla war far is , interesting place will have to rewatch about him .
Interesting video,I have visited clouds hill as a child with my parents many years ago but didn't really have an interest at that time but really enjoyed your video, did u visit his crash site along the same road??
Yes I went to the museum also, great place, his crash site is not far from his house on same stretch of road, what a interesting and adventurous life he crammed into his relatively short life.
I have watched this video a few times! Then I watched the movie with Peter O'Tool... 1962. Then I watched Lawrence of Arabia (T. E. Lawrence) and his legacy. King Faizal abandoned him so did the British. My question... Is Lawrence a hero or villein according to the general British people? At least Lawrence did mention South Africa as example to the British colonialists. It was a sad revelation that the Americans used him as role model to their stupid invasion of areas in the middle East! How do you paint this picture?
@@BobEarnshawMoHo Awesome answer. My dad always had this saying... "The success of anything is the final result." I learned something reading up, watching videos about something I sort of know about... but really didn't till your video! Thanks!
Bob Earnshaw I agree with you. In ‘Seven Pillars’ he speaks of living a lie. It had become clear to the British government was not going to deliver on their promise of an independent Arab state, and yet Lawrence had to keep the momentum of the revolt going. It broke his heart.

Yes we were told that, it only took 30 years of campaigning.

So, would you be interested in a video of my walk around the Tank Museum? Going to try to edit my 1.5 hours of footage when I get home.
@@BobEarnshawMoHo yes that would be great I spent many months on courses at Allenby Barracks next to the museum but never got the chance to visit.
Very interesting Bob and to think I have driven past it when visiting the Tank Museum Doh!
Loved it
Thank you!
That was very interesting. Made me Google Lawrence of Arabia and learn more.
Thank you for the beautiful tour. Being from the states I admire the history of the UK, I’d love to travel that gorgeous countryside.
Really enjoyed that video. Thank you
Best profile I've seen of Clouds Hill!. Great vlog.
Thank you.

Thanks, we had no mobile signal at Hunters Moon or Roundhill, so couldn't upload anything.
A very interesting video, thanks for that Bob and Jenny, was wondering what had happened...
Thank you for sharing.
Hubby suggested the tank museum but looks like they came to you.
I did go to the Tank Museum. I filmed so much I'll need to edit it when I get home!

Yes we are fine. I try and do a video every day when we're away, but sometimes there's just no signal where we are.

Thanks. Guerilla War is hit and run, like the French Resistance or SOE or ISIS in modern day.
hi great video would you buy a smaller van,, dont you miss the space ,,?
Yes, but if we wanted to take an awning etc., we could always put that in the car.
Interesting video,I have visited clouds hill as a child with my parents many years ago but didn't really have an interest at that time but really enjoyed your video, did u visit his crash site along the same road??
No, didn't see where that was. We went to the Tank Museum afterwards.

And "Aurens" himself came in his iron camel!🐫

To me, he was a dreamer and an idealist. He promised things that he personally couldn't deliver, that's why he suffered so much after the war.
