The US is interested in ultimately controlling the oil resources of Middle East. The Brits were in India for the same reason. We had no oil but they were exploiting our other resources until the last moment. When they left they left with a problem (Kashmir) which was created for a purpose and after some planning, because they were not fully satisfied even after doing the partition of India. They were estimating that if India is not divided it will progress by leaps and bounds and faster than today's China.
If you look at the history of India starting from the Indus Valley Civilization (dating back 3500 -5000 BC) to the late Mughal period, there were no Hindu/Muslim riots of any type and the public was happy and prosperous. While there were all sorts of Departments including the Judiciary, but most people were working for the army. All Hindus/Muslims were working side by side and this was within their view. With this it was obvious to the Brits to do the partition of India and create problems like Kashmir which will keep steaming up into a explosive situation and will then never leave the public at peace one way or the other. This also meant that the resources of both sides will be spent on defence.
When we look at the position at home we find that instead of progress rss/bjp boosted up the Hindu/Muslim divide to a level and at the same time mismanaged the economy in the most unacceptable manner. This meant that gross injustice among the minority as well as majority community. Complete loss of jobs/poverty/low incomes/very high food prices/highest ever petrol prices/closure of schools/high cost private schools/privatised Universities well beyond the reach of all working classes...........In brief we have reached a situation and such a bad time which we had not seen even in the British Rule...........the circumstances have very badly affected the majority/minority much in the same way.............some of the many problems described above have affected all of us...........a divided nation will keep destroying our progress and we will go on seeing a maladministration based on this divide........... In brief I can add that our economy is in a dangerous state and our national borrowing is very high against our Gross National Product. If we do not take any immediate correction steps we may go in for a very big down turn in our trade cycles which has yet to touch the bottom.......
