One squaddie, at the back of our patrol line, was actually knocked out by a large branch/tree limb (courtesy of one irate jungle monkey).

You were lucky : I used to know a Korean guy who engaged at the same time as I did as he wanted to do the same as you but they did not let him resign before the end of the 4 months instruction classes that were hell for him. He also wanted to be able to tell his story after a quick return home, but he had to pay a higher price for it than he initially thought. And I think he regreted his tourism attempt a lot in the end.
