I owned one of these but sold it at some point. This was a camera that I borrowed. I shot this months ago but couldn't fit it into the schedule until now.
Generally, the gearing in an SLR can be complicated. You might want to check out KEH, although the price can be high. There probably are some independent repair folks who can sort out the problem. Funny that you mention the Graflex. I was just thinking of that recently because I wanted to talk about how press photography has evolved through the decades. It probably would be worth buying one for a video. Thanks for the suggestion!

One of my favourite cameras. I do have a mechanical issue with the film advance -- it jams up and has seized somewhere at the top of the take up spool, lke there's dirt in the gear. Would you advise a home repair (taking off the top case to get to the top of the take up spool) or would you caution against that? What difficulty level would you give a repair / cleaning for that? I'd like to see you review a Graflex Speedgraphic. I don't think you have yet.

FM/FE etc were portable for journalists etc, but for sheer work, the F3 and F4 owned news photography until the digital era.

Agreed. That F3 and F4 were great cameras. The FM was a great backup camera to have in your bag. For news photographers, no one cared which camera you used to get the shot - as long as you got the shot, so you better have several bodies in your bag.
