For anyone unfamiliar with Norman Seabrook, as head of the NYC corrections officer union, he was one of the 100 most important people in NY City. Corrections was one of the most, if not the most, respected unions in a city with many strong unions. This is an amazing interview. He has a unique perspective and has had an amazing journey to get to this point. I hope this is heard by many people.
Had the pleasure of meeting Norman on numerous occasions and he has been nothing short of a kind human being to me and my family bless him and his new journey in life ‼️

I’m a former criminal who is now at the age where I can see the truth in a video. Mr. Seabrook has a very strong sense of the human side of things. I spent a few years on rikers island and what he said is true about how the system works. Very strong and well written. He seems like a very good man, hopefully 🤞 the system will change for the better.

This Brother Norman has a moral background that dates back to his upbringing.. I grew up with him. Although, he relies strongly on his faith, he is/was always committed to community ..❤️👁️☯️
Norman was surrounded by nefarious people who misadvised him. He was hands down the best union President that the officers ever had. He was able to get pay parity with the Police and Fire unions that the majority Black and Latino and women workforce should have had all along. He never blocked inmate advocacy groups from seeking programs for inmates. He came from the streets. He was getting more influential than the PBA President and of course that couldn't happen. Same with Mayor Eric Adams. They came for these two Black men for doing less than Bernard Kerick and Rudolph Giuliani did. Neither are left leaning liberals either. Both actually began their political careers as Republicans who were level headed in their approach to the criminal injustice system because they both came from the streets.
Just wanted to say thank you Norman never had a chance on the island to thank you for everything you did for me and the union…Rikers was a hell of a place to work…C-76💙

As someone who knew Norman well and worked with him while he was in GRVC, I always liked him however….he was humbled by God and as a result he is definitely a better person for it. He did AMAZING things for the COBA members however no one is above the law!
Good to see Norm looking in good health, I worked under Phil Seelig, Stan Isreal, and Norman Seabrook up until I retired in 2004, my motto was “I don’t work for corrections, corrections works for me”, 20 years retired and trying to pile as many more years as possible…

I started the job in 96 and worked in 5 different jails all over the dept, and Norman had been in position for most of my career. I can truthfully attest to everything he has done over the years for his officers! He always made their problems his own! Before the job, i was a union tradesman. I have never seen or even heard of a union elected head accomplish so much in so little time for their members. Did he take his cut of the pie? Perhaps. So what?!? They ALLLLL do it!!! Who cares?!? At this point, i don't want any admission or denial. His actions spoke louder than anything. As long as he does for his members. AND HE DID! Some vicious, envious malicious hating snitches set him up! This newer generation can't begin to acknowledge muchless appreciate the road he paved for them. He and his team pushed the Dept ahead DECADES! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
There are no words. This interview is on point. He's very intelligent. He has a heart of gold. It's sad that there's not many like him. What's also sad is the fact that corruption, especially in NYCDOC, is not going away. I'm baffled at the fact that when I visited my fiancé in 2022-2023, i dealt with a lot, and I didn't realize how much corruption is still happening on the Island.
It's amazing to hear the same stories we all share in Law Enforcement. We stay trying to change a system that refuses to be changed and the system some how tries to treat you like an inmate. We don't have Officers like this anymore it's just what it is.

Norman is correct as to what he did for his officers. Whether people love or hate him! He's fought for and has done beneficial things as he stated for officers as a whole that were never received or fought for in the entire history of nyc correction departments existence before he became union president. I know because I was an officer under him during his tenure!
The craxy thing is i saw a 60 minutes interview about the inmate who was left in a cell for 6 days and later died this guy was on the segment so i watched this because I recognized his face very well spoken
