For anyone unfamiliar with Norman Seabrook, as head of the NYC corrections officer union, he was one of the 100 most important people in NY City. Corrections was one of the most, if not the most, respected unions in a city with many strong unions. This is an amazing interview. He has a unique perspective and has had an amazing journey to get to this point. I hope this is heard by many people.

Norman was surrounded by nefarious people who misadvised him. He was hands down the best union President that the officers ever had. He was able to get pay parity with the Police and Fire unions that the majority Black and Latino and women workforce should have had all along. He never blocked inmate advocacy groups from seeking programs for inmates. He came from the streets. He was getting more influential than the PBA President and of course that couldn't happen. Same with Mayor Eric Adams. They came for these two Black men for doing less than Bernard Kerick and Rudolph Giuliani did. Neither are left leaning liberals either. Both actually began their political careers as Republicans who were level headed in their approach to the criminal injustice system because they both came from the streets.

Before the job, i was a union tradesman. I have never seen or even heard of a union elected head accomplish so much in so little time for their members. Did he take his cut of the pie? Perhaps. So what?!? They ALLLLL do it!!! Who cares?!? At this point, i don't want any admission or denial. His actions spoke louder than anything. As long as he does for his members. AND HE DID! Some vicious, envious malicious hating snitches set him up!
This newer generation can't begin to acknowledge muchless appreciate the road he paved for them. He and his team pushed the Dept ahead DECADES! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

It's amazing to hear the same stories we all share in Law Enforcement. We stay trying to change a system that refuses to be changed and the system some how tries to treat you like an inmate. We don't have Officers like this anymore it's just what it is.

Norman is correct as to what he did for his officers. Whether people love or hate him! He's fought for and has done beneficial things as he stated for officers as a whole that were never received or fought for in the entire history of nyc correction departments existence before he became union president. I know because I was an officer under him during his tenure!

I have nothing but the utmost respect for TEMU Morgan Freeman. He is a fine example of how to be a true professional in one of the most dangerous of workplaces. It's a true eye opener but unfortunately privately owned prisons are OUT OF CONTROL but it's big business for them. It's extremely hard to be a straight arrow in a crooked workplace.
