    Kudos for getting that heater repaired! Just in time for winter 🥶

      I have some excessive vibration, so it may not be quite repaired yet ☹

    Mojo…glad to hear that Mr Heater got the new motor out to you pronto. That was quite the replacement operation! Hopefully you don’t have to go through that again after a period of the heater not being used. Stay warm! 🤞🤞🤞

    • @PlanetMojo
      @PlanetMojo  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks @utgrousehunter! I hope so as well! It already seems to be vibrating a bit more than it should, so we'll keep our fingers crossed! 😑

      Sill an issue, but I agree. I have a lot of work to do out there this winter, and I need heat!

    MY heaters started making a horrible rattling noise. Found this video, which indirectly helped by showing my the location of the alan-key tightening screw in the fan. Thanks!

    I couldn't see close up when you were taking the fan off, but if there was room, a nice T handle hex key would give you more leverage to bust through that loctite. I never owned a set and finally bought a set of SAE and metric and they are a lifesaver when I need them! My hands won't hold those tiny keys like they used to. I have to think that fan was either flexing or slipping at high RPM. I have that exact heater, so I watched this in the event that I have to change mine. Hope not!

    • @PlanetMojo
      @PlanetMojo  ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Thanks J Ned! I agree about the T-handle hex keys. I've wanted a set for many years but couldn't justify the cost - I almost pulled the trigger a few months ago, but again couldn't do it. I bought a single wrench for the set screws on router bits long ago, but at the time the full sets were very expensive. This comment pushed me over the edge though. I ordered a set of SAE and metric padded t-handle wrenches!
      As for the fan, it is still vibrating more than normal, but at least it is quiet - for now. I'm wondering if Mr Heater cheapened something-up? A vibrating fan will eventually fail, so I will need to make another video (you can hear it in the next room better) and see what they say. I'll also tighten-up the mounting nuts and see if that helps? Kinda frustrating... 😩

    Hi Mojo, nice job let's hope the motor lasts a lot longer than the old one,was it still in warranty or did you have to pay for a new motor

    • @PlanetMojo
      @PlanetMojo  ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Thanks Larry, but unfortunately even though it is not rattling, there is a vibration that can be heard even outside of the building! I'm going to try tightening things-up, but the whole mess is just taking up time that I don't have 😑 I'm going to tighten things up super tight and see if that helps - stay tuned for another video. No, the motor was preplaced under warranty and there was no cost - so-far.

    There appears to be a bit of a slight hum. Hopefully that's the camera and not another faulty fan!

    Cheeky giant ziplock bag of Burr oak acorns! You going to try and grow those in pots or plant them out in the fields and let nature take its course?
    I have successfully grown a handful from seed if you need any advice (I doubt you need any, just in case)

    • @PlanetMojo
      @PlanetMojo  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Good eye Benjamin! 👀I'll be making a video shortly regarding the acorns. I am going to sprout some of them, and the rest I will toss in the spring on our east ridge. Stay tuned! 😊

    Had the same problem after 1-1/2 year, changed the motor and fan this weekend, so far so good… I noticed that my original motor had some play on the shaft vs the new one

    • @PlanetMojo

      They probably need to recall these motors. I will be going through this for the third time soon. The motors last about a year if you're lucky. 😠

  • @jakeketler9626
    @jakeketler9626 6 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    Wow sounds like they need to recall. I wonder if there is a higher quality replacement we can put in? I’d hate to undo this whole heater install I just did

    • @PlanetMojo
      @PlanetMojo  6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I agree. I will be replacing mine with one of those silent pot growing fans next year. I need it extra quiet for filming videos. Luckily I have the minisplit working now that takes care of that, but I need this fixed!

    Mine is doing this exact thing. Only been installed 2 days !!!!
    I have them sending me a new motor as well. Would tightening up that center screw on it fix it ??… the second unplug the unit the rattling stops (even while the fan is still spinning while slowly down)

    • @PlanetMojo
      @PlanetMojo  6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It's a faulty design. The blades are the problem. They become bent very easily and destabilize the motor, which eventually destroys the motor.

  • @InTheDirtAgain
    @InTheDirtAgain 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    How is the repair holding up? Got a part number for that replacement motor?

    • @PlanetMojo
      @PlanetMojo  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Actually, the second motor (or fan blade) is loud as well. They sent another replacement fan blade, and I will be installing it next week. I can get the motor info when I do that. I will be putting a Molex connector on the wire this time because I will likely be be doing this again 😑

    • @InTheDirtAgain
      @InTheDirtAgain 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@PlanetMojo I'll be tearing the fan motor out of mine later this weekend. It's making the same noise and my gut is telling me that the fan/screw is the culprit. Half tempted to weld it on instead of using the screw, especially if a new blade comes with the replacement motor.

    • @PlanetMojo
      @PlanetMojo  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@InTheDirtAgain If I had it to do again (the complete tear down) I would just cut the wire, and use Wago connectors to reattach it. I did it the hard way for the video, but will be cutting the wire next week when I do this again. The motor being tethered to the main unit is a big problem. Wago's work super well, and are cheaper than Molex connectors. You can get them here if they don't have them locally: WAGO 221-412 Series Inline Splice AWG 24 - 12 (60 ct) - amzn.to/3RmNVW3 My video will be out next week, so maybe comment there on how your project is going. I will be going with either a unit replacement or perhaps a quiet duct fan if the new blade doesn't work, but getting it on and off will be a lot easier. 🥴

    • @InTheDirtAgain
      @InTheDirtAgain 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@PlanetMojo Since it is a simple 2-wire electric motor, I would think any other setup would be better than what they use. Can't stand the cheap-o metal blades and there are plenty of 120v fans available in that size.

    • @PlanetMojo
      @PlanetMojo  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@InTheDirtAgain I agree. Let me know if you find something before I do 😊

    It’s obvious the bearing is shot… you could rebuild it…but it’s easier to replace it.
