Skatelog there different sayings. Let's say your good at lifting and bad at cardio. Adding to your weakness will make your cardio worse and taking away from your strength will make your lifting worse
Initially I felt there was kind of a difference in wheight for cars, when hitting the ball or hitting another player, to me the Gizmo and Scarab felt the lightest, you get thrown very far if hit by any car, while Grog felt to me as one of the heaviest cars in the game. I agree with you man. I always treat the Merc and Grog as "bully" cars because I can almost always win pushing others around, whereas in my experience, I feel the Esper is the lightest car, just getting bumped seems to send this car flying.
I have had this sensation before. After using the breakout for maybe 400 or so matches, I tried out the hotshot and felt like I couldn't move the car the way I desired. I think the feeling of weight has more to do with the hitbox of the cars and with the user getting used to one shape over another. Getting sent flying farther, for example, may be due to a person's assumption that the shape of their car is the same as the shape of the car they usually use in matches. Then the height difference between these two cars would account for the different reaction.
Yeah, this bothers me a lot. I really like the hitbox of the Marauder, but if I go from the Marauder to the Vulcan (which has worse turn speed and radius) I feel faster and lighter and I can't figure out why. Sometimes I feel like maybe it's just a placebo feeling as a function of the engine sound and visual design but I also tend to go for more aerials where the opponent beats me than I usually do with the 'heavier' cars.
After this i felt like taking a stopwatch and just measuring some stuff. For the most part the differences are really subtle, but I'm a little confused about the fact that I measured the time it took to just drive across the narrow part of the field and I measured 3 times for the Marauder, Dominus GT, and Vulcan respectively. Marauder got 6.20, 6.17, 6.18. Vulcan got 6.20, 6.16, 6.18. The Dominus GT got 6.06, 6.08, 6.08. I did this by eye so take it with a grain of salt, but it was on the same map, the same line, and just holding R2. I would love to see some stricter testing than just 'that one guy from reddit' (who is admittedly more thorough than me) with the turn radius and hitboxes.
Could you make a video comparing the keyboard control scheme to the controller control scheme? Maybe discuss some pros and cons in the same way you did with the cars on this video?
Grimmer did explain it right but not detailed. TLDR; Controllers are better, yes, but why you may ask? Keyboard keys have a set speed; if your car can accelerate from 0-100 they will only go 75(not the right numbers, but the logic they follow). Controllers can go from any speed; from crawling to speeding at a full 100. Same thing with air rolls, turning, everything! Controllers are more precise. Keyboards are definite hits, but its hard to adjust with them. To go slow you'd need to constantly tap the W key to go different speeds, but they are better for freestyling because they have a set set of keys (ex. w+q+z for twist, w+1+7 for forward, etc.); kind of like typing in a code. A good example is doing half flips with a keyboard vs a controller.
I learned a half-flip with K+M within 2 minutes. Freestyling is a pain in the ass but also possible if you played long enough to train your motor learning skills (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motor_learning)
Don’t knock the marauder. I use it exclusively, and I didn’t know anything about it’s stats but I love it. Now I’m learning it’s got like the widest and tallest hitboxes, which I have been taking advantage of without knowing. It’s great for side hits and jump hits. I’m no pro tho, but this car is solid.
I don't like electro too much, but I'm quite sure you're useing electro as a broad term for electronic music as a whole. People have their preference, and they can use whatever music they want in their videos.
I know that everybody is allowed to use every kind of music they like. But I just wanted to tell him, that I prefer the music he uses in the background.

I'm always switching back and forth between the dominus and octane since both of them have their pros and cons. I like to use the dominus for aerial shots cause of its longer body while the octane has better maneuverability to get around the arena which is very useful in 1v1's. This is just my opinion
I feel like the Marauder is my personal favorite car. I used the Octane all the time but when I started using the Marauder I rarely ever lost a 50/50 and my striking ability was 10x better. In my opinion the Marauder is the best car.
With the Octane, you missed a huge reason. The Octane produces so much power from a shot if you hit with the front due to the flat and high-ish bumper. The ball gains only around half the height as a normal hit from a car like the breakout which makes it easier to get a lot more power in your shot and not need to flick. Other cars do this but not at the same rates as the Octane and the Octane does this the best. As the Octane is popular and has that advantage, using the Octane will mean that the opponent doesn't get to be the only one with the advantage.
I feel that too much height contributes as well; when I use the Merc, I often lose sight on the ball or the field because the height. Most of the popular cars don't have a lot of height, and the Dominus has that tail, which adds to the height, but you can still see through it. Players like to be able to see what's going on, and a taller car blocks your field of view more.
Honestly, I think "flat" cars (Breakout, Batmobile...) are easier to learn on... I started off with Octane at first, but I just didn't like the way it goes through air and I just felt like I have absolutely no control over it. And then I switched to Breakout and I was amazed by how suddenly simple aerials are... Might be just me. I mean, I see many people playing VERY well with cars that I never would even think of playing with such as X-Devil... Bottom line, try them all... Find your style...
Yeah, I have about 200 hours on RL, all on octane. Just switched to Dominus and my air game specifically has improved dramatically. I may at one point switch back to Octane, but I'd recommend anyone who only uses Octane to give the Dominus or Breakout a go for a bit.
You went straight to the point. It all comes down to finding a car that doesn't hurt your advantages and adds to you weaknesses. For me, the Merc is one of the beat out there. Really. I tend to make very accentuated which makes dribbling harder for me. However, the tall hitbox of the Merc gives me the extra split second before the ball goes off, allowing me to correct my movement and finish the play. Is it the best car around? Certainly not for everyone. But if you're like me and drive like Maggie on The Simpson's intro, then it might help you out while you get better at things.
I'm primarily a Takumi user but was an Octane user originally until the Takumi came out, recently I've experimented with other cars like the Artemis from Rocket Pass 2 or the Centio and Diestro, I really liked the Centio when I was in Silver 3 but I've been running the Diestro since promotion to Gold 1 and I've only lost 3 out of my last 10 matches and got MVP in all but 1 of the wins, having a car you actually like plays a big psychological part in your success on the field

I switched to the Octane back in the early days after using the (then absolutely, almost comically godawful) Hotshot. I played just about 90 hours with Hotshot and didn't feel like I've improved much since even starting out with the game. Then I started using the Octane and literally the first game I've improved to what I felt my skill level should be (from hardly being able to defend the net to doing aerials like if I had done them all my life), just from the perspective of how well I understood the game. Only improvement since then. I like longer cars, because I mess up my flicks more often than I'd like with the Octane, but other than that, there isn't really any reason to use one (popular) car over the other (popular cars) as it currently stands. They're all decent. But yeah, while it's hard to say what car is the BEST, there's certainly an argument to be made about what cars are the WORST and Hotshot feels like it's just there to trap players below their skill level.

I'm very surprised you didn't state the obvious. Many players don't even care about these minor stat differences, tbh... The Octance just looks cool. End of discussion, that's probably one of the biggest reasons, BESIDES that a lot of pro's use it.

What about car weight? Is that a thing? It seems to me that the Octane is super heavy and built like a tank compared to say breaktout or dominus. It's heavier in the air, bumps barely affects it and it's super easy to destroy, for example, dominus cars with Octane?

Saw and loved the look of the marauder so I bought it (on sale, 1.19 lol). Nice Video. I just tried RL for the first time yesterday, and didn't find it very easy to control the ball or the flow of the game. It was quite random for me and timing the jump was too hard for me. And here I see these players maneuver and carry the ball with their cars at will... WOW... how are these guys so good at this game?!!
The Octane reminds me of the Flame Runner in Mario Kart Wii. It's not the best in any one aspect, but it's so good at everything that matters, that it's overall the best.

Personally, I use the Merc. Mainly because I'm better at defense than anything else, so the extra height and surface area help out a lot.

I believe all cars weigh 10 times the weight that the ball weighs. Honestly though until the devs release the numbers we won't be positive

I may at one point switch back to Octane, but I'd recommend anyone who only uses Octane to give the Dominus or Breakout a go for a bit.

You went straight to the point. It all comes down to finding a car that doesn't hurt your advantages and adds to you weaknesses. For me, the Merc is one of the beat out there. Really. I tend to make very accentuated which makes dribbling harder for me. However, the tall hitbox of the Merc gives me the extra split second before the ball goes off, allowing me to correct my movement and finish the play. Is it the best car around? Certainly not for everyone. But if you're like me and drive like Maggie on The Simpson's intro, then it might help you out while you get better at things.

Creative KiIIer I used to use the Masamune, but I recently got the Takumi RX-T and I love it. I also use the Dominus GT every now and then, it's cool.

I'm primarily a Takumi user but was an Octane user originally until the Takumi came out, recently I've experimented with other cars like the Artemis from Rocket Pass 2 or the Centio and Diestro, I really liked the Centio when I was in Silver 3 but I've been running the Diestro since promotion to Gold 1 and I've only lost 3 out of my last 10 matches and got MVP in all but 1 of the wins, having a car you actually like plays a big psychological part in your success on the field

I switched to the Octane back in the early days after using the (then absolutely, almost comically godawful) Hotshot. I played just about 90 hours with Hotshot and didn't feel like I've improved much since even starting out with the game. Then I started using the Octane and literally the first game I've improved to what I felt my skill level should be (from hardly being able to defend the net to doing aerials like if I had done them all my life), just from the perspective of how well I understood the game. Only improvement since then. I like longer cars, because I mess up my flicks more often than I'd like with the Octane, but other than that, there isn't really any reason to use one (popular) car over the other (popular cars) as it currently stands. They're all decent.
But yeah, while it's hard to say what car is the BEST, there's certainly an argument to be made about what cars are the WORST and Hotshot feels like it's just there to trap players below their skill level.

I'm very surprised you didn't state the obvious. Many players don't even care about these minor stat differences, tbh... The Octance just looks cool. End of discussion, that's probably one of the biggest reasons, BESIDES that a lot of pro's use it.
the new hotwheels car has the same stats as the batmobile, and its customizable :)
+Hexmos That's just false information. The Twinmills doesn't have the same stats as the batmobile. Also, it has way worse hitbox representation, too.

What about car weight? Is that a thing? It seems to me that the Octane is super heavy and built like a tank compared to say breaktout or dominus. It's heavier in the air, bumps barely affects it and it's super easy to destroy, for example, dominus cars with Octane?

Nice Video. I just tried RL for the first time yesterday, and didn't find it very easy to control the ball or the flow of the game. It was quite random for me and timing the jump was too hard for me. And here I see these players maneuver and carry the ball with their cars at will... WOW... how are these guys so good at this game?!!
