  • Gukesh D is simply on fire in the 2025 Tata Steel Chess Tournament, and today we are looking at a brilliant game he played vs Max Waterdam in the 10th round of the tournament! In this game Gukesh was playing as Black, but he literally showed he was playing for a win right from the very first move!
    In the game White opens 1.e4 and Gukesh responds with 1...d6, likely heading for a Pirc or Modern Defense! From there White played the very strange move 2.g3, which was designed to throw Gukesh off guard, and it appears it worked as Gukesh responded with 2...c5, transposing to a Sicilian Defense, but he was soon slightly worse out of the opening. That's OK, as Gukesh fought back and generated active play on the queenside, and soon he was fighting for the initiative! Of course the real shocker of the game came when Gukesh sacrificed his knight on g3, blowing open the game! Make sure to watch till the very end of the video to see the insane conclusion to this unbelievable game!

      Did Max missed to fork Gukesh's queen and rook towards the end (15:41 mark in this video)?

      It looked like he didn’t got much out of the opening still enough for a win.

    Agadmator shows why he resigned. He had no chance. Would have been destroyed in 4 moves.

    White’s name is not Waterdam, but Warmerdam: one should check these things. The written text can be changed easily, but the spoken words…

      He butchers everyone's names. Pragnanda, fedduhseeve, kamer. I think he does it on purpose.

    once Gukesh started his cold walk gambit.. Max knew that he has maxed out his chances... he resigned with dignity instead of resigning after more humiliation in 10 different ways.

    Those two knights and the attack is powerful maybe can survive for few more moves but yeah it is a bit early maybe he just calculated something and resigned

    At 15:33 can't the white knight fork the black queen and rook?

    There was HUGE time pressure so he kinda got frozen....and it's reasonable he resigned as he didn't he any draw

    Can anyone tell me why at 15:40 time of video white did not made a fork to Queen and rook;

      So if white knight forks queen and rook at D7, then black knight takes bishop in E3 targeting white queen... So if f2 takes E3, then queen G3 check and mate is coming superfast

    • @chasinghaze0962
      @chasinghaze0962 7 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      If white moves the knight to D7, black can take the bishop at e3 with the knight hitting the queen as well. If white takes with the pawn, queen goes G7 to check the king and black will win easily. If white queen moves, black moves queen to D8 to hit the knight->knight captures rook->black queen goes to G5 to check the king and white will probably lose.

    Wouldnt want him in the trenches with me. After bishop took bishop if gukesh took with the wrong knight it could of turned into his favor. Plus water missed a queen rook fork a few moves before the white flag

    Fianchetto pronunciation: Fee-ahn-KEH-toh with the accent on the 3rd syllable. (it's not Fee-ahn-CHEE-toh)
