This is definitely a coincidence but the snake can symbolise the journey of Raiden and the man/men who taught him, the dragon can represent the fire in both Jack and Armstrog and their overwhelming strength (both in commitment to their ideals and brute force) and the Phoenix symbolises the rebirth of the cycle of violence and the hope that the world can escape the cycle and be reborn from the ashes mentioned in the song (I feel new life will be born beneath the blood stained saaaaaand).
