The only criticism I would level at Buick was naivety to think he was going to get a smooth run by going to the inside of an O Brien horse. Should have taken it to the outside all the way and would have won.
I think what you meant to say was my comment had one fatal flaw. Do not be foolish and ignorant please. Watch the first 55 seconds of this video and try telling me that jockeys riding O Brien horses did not snatch up both the fugue and Kailani? The Fugue did amazingly well to get as close considering what happened earlier in the race. The O Brien team put 5 horses in the race, not because they thought each had a chance of winning. It was to stop others. The planned for Was to win and it worked.
Look this season Windsor Palace was a pacemker who won at 66/1,Homecoming Queen 25/1 winner of the 1000 guineas,Aidan O'Brien has such an arsenal of horses it's hardly suprising when 1 of his least fancied runners wins.The Fugue easily had enough time to recover & win but she wasn't good enough period.You sound like a guy who over bet & lost.
Lol i backed the Fugue,you don't have to correct a spelling mistake or typo.Check the list of classic winners in the UK this year lol Camelot apart AOB has won all of them with outsiders! in summary O'Brien sticks so many horses in a race because he knows they all have a chance of sorts.If you cannot see this i'd say you are very foolish.
The Fugue lost because she didn't handle the track as well as the winner,she didn't pick up quick enough either.On a convetional track i'd back The Fugue but you comment has 1 fatl flaw-whether or not they intentionally bumped The Fugue they were powerless to make Was run faster!
There doesn't seem to be much competition for Camelot although Dermot Weld's Speaking of Which was very impressive in its last run, id expect it to be there or thereabouts in the Irish derby. Just read that Camelot may run in the Irish derby. No chance!
The fugue should have won. The O Brien team snatched up the Fugue and Kailani as they clearly saw those two horses as their main threat. You can call it tactics if you like or race riding but I prefer to call it well planned and executed cheating.
I don't think you can blame buick ,its just the way the race unfolded ,if the fuge was far superior to these she had the opportunity to win,although i think she is the best horse in the race, on the day i was just very competive !
Lol O'Brien won yet another classic,well done to him! well done to Was who did nothing wrong in the race & was the deserving winner.Class horses overcome trouble & for me Buick hardly covered himself in glory.
For me if they ran the race again 10 times there would probably be a different winner everytime.This particular race was messy but the biggest problem imo is that this years fillies are ordinary! take Camelot away from the colts & then we'd have an extremely poor crop of 3 yr olds across the board.
I'm quite certain John Gosden felt like he had the right filly at Epsom for the Oaks in The Fugue, but in hind sight, I think it's unfortunate that Great Heavens was a late developer and took the G2 Lancashire Oaks route at Haydock enroute to the Curragh for the G1 Irish Oaks, because I think Great Heavens would've whitewashed this field if she had shown up at Epsom, IMO.
Yeah i thought Buick pretty much beat her but it's extremely harsh for any1 to suggest the winner was lucky.The Fugue had enough time during the race to recover but was caught out & lacks tactical speed.We should remember the Musidora was a pretty poor race where the Favourite clearly failed to stay & when all said and done only 6 winners of the race have gone on to win the oaks since 1961.
Save your guesswork for when you play Cluedo. I didn't bet on the race. I was just sickened by all the praise lavished on O Brien after the race when I witnessed such a pre-meditated and well executed act of cheating.
