Thank you so much for this video Chrissie, you have inspired me! I love listening to you as I can hear the lovely, calm and gentle teacher that I am sure you were. I have spent most of my life as a teaching assistant in primary schools (qualified Nursery Nurse) and just loved working with teachers who were able to bring out the best in children by their calm and gentle demeanor. That transposes so well to sharing these videos!
You sound like the sort of person I loved having at my side in the classroom! Thanks so much🤍🤍🤍
I love your videos and hope you continue for a long time with many more followers 😊
That's kind thanks❤️❤️❤️
Thanks so much for doing this technique, and so quickly after the last one! The effects you’ve achieved are fabulous and the little flowers look so pretty against the Swiss dots. You are so clever❤❤❤
Thank you so much!
My partner and I so enjoy sitting down to your videos and are saddened that when I checked I too had been unsubscribed to your channel. So re subscribed and hope that this doesn't happen again, as we would love for you to reach 20K . Keep doing what you do!❤
Thanks for resubscribing, I think it may keep happening actually ... So irritating!
Thank you for reminding me of this technique Christine, I had forgotten all about it and have lots of pots of mica powders that haven't seen the light of day for too long! Such fabulous backgrounds. Thank you.👍😊
You are so welcome!😊
Beautiful technique! The black and gold was very striking! I wouldn’t have thought of that combination but it will be gorgeous when dry. Time for me give this technique another try! Thanks very much.
Have fun!❤️
So I just saw this video and fell in love with the die and went online and bought it. I'm more surprised that I found it so easily! This would have to be one of my favorites of yours so far but that's not saying the others aren't as lovely! What you and Deb come up with is fantastic, thank you 💜
Have fun😊😊😊
So many wonderful ideas, every time!
That's really kind thanks
Thank you for demonstrating this technique I must get my brushos out and have a play, love the backgrounds that emerged once dry. Take care.
Have fun😊😊😊
More beautiful cards Christine, and a fun technique that I look forward to trying out. I've been unsubscribed from lots of channels, even though I give a thumbs up to every single video I watch. Bah humbug TH-cam!
Ditto, that sentiment!😕
Such a beautiful card. Those flowers are stunning!
Thank you so much!
Lovely technique Christine. Love the idea of using spray starch too! What wonderful results! I can’t wait to give it a go! X
Have fun!😊😊😊
I had to get some spray starch to try this. Very fun! The great part is it seems to seal the mica, so no rub off!
Absolutely! Have fun!❤️❤️❤️
Absolutely stunning love the backgrounds amazing what a bit of starch and cling film can do with Luscious Powders, Pixie Powders and many more mediums, thanks so much for your never ending inspiration :)
Thanks so much 😊
Thank you for displaying some interesting & unique artistic techniques -
Your presentation & demonstration of your artwork is made easier to follow with your calm gentle
mellifluous voice.
Kept thinking I was listening to the soothing voice of actress Rosemary Leach. 🌻🍂🍃
Thank you very much! I'm glad you find my voice calming, there are some crafter's channels that I can't watch because the voices grate on my ears... Maybe something to do with my hearing aids!🤔
@@Chrissieannie
I completely agree with you about some unlistenable off putting grating voices -
Coupled with your talented gently paced tutorials you have a distinctive beautiful speaking voice that engages & focuses on your artwork- making it easier to follow in an unhurried or rushed way.
I believe with your voice you could make reading a telephone directory interesting if they still exist!
@@hapijen4828 that is so kind! Thank you❤️

Your creative talents deserves acknowledgement & recognition.
Thank you Christine for answering the question before I asked it. I have avoided using the powders ever since I made my grandson a card with monsters on and the background was like outer space. He loved it but his Mum didn't because his hands kept getting the powder transferred then it transferred to his mouth. Grandma in trouble again 😁😁xxxx
Poor old grandma!😊😊😊
I love watching techniques!!!
That's great😊
I’ve got some brusho powders and some pixie powders so will give this a go...I know that the thumbs up are important. Must admit after leaving a comment I sometimes forget..Thank you for another technique to try. 🦋xxx
Thanks so much😄😄😄
Thankyou for the starch tip ,I had wondered how you got the beautiful sheen.I will have to spend a day making backgrounds but 1st I have to rearrange my studio .I can't say I'm looking forward to that , I've bought extra storage and I'm going to try and I will try to part with things that I've inherited but will never ever use so I have free space for all the things I really love.I wonder what I will find whilst I'm tidying, it's always feels a bit like I'm in a craft shop with heaps of new things you've forgotten and rediscovered that are brand new!🤣
I know that feeling... I need to do a major purge and general reorganisation!
Gorgeous cards - thank you ! I am literally going to run out this weekend to get some spray starch - that is if I can even get my car out….25 cm of snow coming!
Good luck!! 25cm is a lot of snow, take care!
Can’t wait to give this a go! Thank you.
Have fun!
Finally found a place to get spray starch because I wanted to copy your process to make these backgroounds. I also tried the technique on black paper and added some perfect pearls and cosmic shimmer too and it looks amazing. I'm having fun with the experimenting. I will try brushos too next. Thanks for sharing.
Sounds like you are having great fun! Long may it continue! 😊😊😊
Thanks so much for showing this technique. I'm off to the kitchen to find the spray starch!
You are so welcome!😊😊😊
Glad to see you in the New Year. Always fun to learn some new techniques. Wishing you the best in 2024!!!!
Same to you!
Oh my goodness I am so excited to see how you did this. I was so fascinated with all the tips and techniques that I forgot to ask how you did the starch technique. Thanks for sharing and thank you artsy friends for remembering to ask my question
The spray starch video is live now
Loll gave me the tip of using a push pin hole in the top of the Brusho cap to sprinkle out, thankfully! Or I would have had a mess on my hands. LOL Who would have known that spray starch could be used in this way?! I love this and love those background you have made. Your card is just stunning! I think the swiss dots embossing folder is everyone's most favorite! Thanks for showing this technique, it is really very cool and now I need me some spray starch. Will have to see how much I have left in my can, but don't think it is much. Hugs, Brenda
Loll knows what's what! She's a superb crafter! I hope you have lots of fun!
@@Chrissieannie She is a very good crafter, especially at mixed media!
Thank you so much for doing my suggestion ❤
No problem 😊
If I could subscribe again, I would! Some pigment powders will have to go on my shopping list or maybe I could try with mica sprays. Love the pink and gold and the card design. Happy new year to you and good luck getting to 20k 😊
Many thanks. Luscious Powders from IndigoBlu are amazing and you can get 20% discount on their products direct from them with the code CHRISTH-cam!

Thank you for sharing this technique. The card turned out to be beautiful and elegant. There is no more that I can say that hasn't already been said. Christine Stokes rocks😛

Love the brushes and pixie powders. Fun to have an afternoon play .
Much appreciated! Enjoy!
I love the embossing ideas, so I need to get out my old cuttlebug folders. However, I can't even work in my craft room, it's so messy. Since I live in expensive California, I will work outside with our gorgeous weather to try all of your fabulous techniques. Just love love your ideas (spray starch, who knew!!!)
Have fun!❤️❤️❤️😊😊😊
Oh my, Christine, what a fun technique to try! I do have some pigment powders that I hardly ever use, so will certainly put them to use now! Am thinking some lovely pinks and reds and golds for Valentine cards!
Ooooh sounds fabulous!❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for another wonderful technique ❤

Absolutely stunning effect! And I love the effect of using partial embossing on this card! 💖
Thanks so much!❤️
How gorgeous. I’ll have to try! Thanks Christine!!! Glad to see you - was going through Gummiapan withdrawl😅
December was quite a marathon! I needed a little chill time!😊
@@Chrissieannie well deserved!
Gorgeous! Love the different effects! I love the magic mat too - it’s a game changer!
Thanks so much😊😊😊
That card is just stunning, soft, elegant and beautiful - love it. Thank you so much for showing this technique. I have many powders left over from my days of playing with resin so guess what I'll be doing with them! Have made some shimmer sprays with some of them but still have heaps left. I too love the dots. Yes, every time I tidy up and organise, I can't find anything 😂 daft isn't it. Have a wonderful day Christine and thank you x
I come across stuff when I least expect it and often can't find things when I need them! Why bother tidying and reorganizing!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Christine, when I saw this technique, I had to put away what I was working on & try it right away! I’ve had those powders for years & never tried them. Thank you so much for the great inspiration.
I hope you had lots of fun!😊😊😊
Beautiful 😍
Thank you! 😊
So pretty!!!
Thank you!!😊
❤ this video and your ideas. Now I have to get spray starch. I have done backgrounds like this using alcohol inks and once dry using parts in frames on cards so now I will try this. Thanks again for your ideas and time spent teaching us your secrets!
Thanks so much❤️❤️
What a beautiful card. I love the idea of partial die cutting and then having the focal point on the 'line'. Lovely Thanks for sharing your technique and ideas. Hopefully you will be up to 20k in no time! Happy New Year to you and yours, and congrats on your anniversary!
Very many thanks 😄😄😄
Christine you are a star! I just love the look of this technique and can't wait to try it. Thank you so muchx

Looks like I'm going to have to get some spray starch and get my pigment powders out! Love these and the card is gorgeous.
Have lots of fun!😊😊😊

Your colors are just beautiful. I can’t wait to try this technique, love that die as well.

Gorgeous colors and I’m so anxious to use my Brusho’s that I’ve had for awhile to give it a try..thank you Christine for another lovely card and some very good tips..love watching you work and come up with wonderful ideas… and good luck on old and new subscribers they are just not aware of what they are missing! ❤😊
That's kind, thanks so much❤️❤️❤️
Hello Christine, Thank you so much for showing how to make the starch, brusho and cling wrap technique. Beautiful backgrounds.
It's fun!😀😀😀
Just gorgeous. Now I’m off to play. This year I wanted to make a bunch of cards I could use for birthday cards throughout the year. This is definitely going to be one of them. By the way, I love all the sayings -pigs breakfast is my favorite. Just one more thing I’ve never been unsubscribed, but I always give you a thumbs up so that might really be the reason people get unsubscribed because they’re not interacting.
Thanks so much for your support and I'm delighted you're looking forward to playing!❤️❤️❤️
Spray starch added to my shopping list! Beautiful, as always🤗🇦🇺
Hope you enjoy it!😊😊😊
how luscious is this, l have a pk of 10 pigment powders that l got when you showed us how to use it with double sided tape and guilding flakes. you did it blue and gold and cut out butterfly's. Another stunning card. l think l may have to pop to the shops tomorrow for some spray starch 😂
I love using pigment powders and gilding flakes, I think you may enjoy this technique too!😀😀😀
Lovely as always. I love your using the embossing dots on the bottom with the flowers along the curve, something I’m certainly going to do. I have a few of these powders, gotta go find them! Thanks for your time and talents
Thanks so much 😊 have fun!
I was unsubscribed too, although I didn't realise because your videos were still showing in my feed, so I don't know how that works! I do often give a thumbs up, when I remember, so I'm not sure that's the reason. It's such a shame for you, I hope they can rectify it. Thanks for sharing, I'm going to try this technique as your results look beautiful. X
Thanks... Really strange isn't it! Let's hope it gets sorted!
Hi Chris- wow that was quick! Thank you for showing us the technique. It looks like fun, I will be giving it a go soon. Very pretty card as usual. Have a great day!
Have fun!
Love this idea. I'm definitely going to try this! Off to look for some starch in the back of the cupboard 😂x
Have fun😊😊😊
Very pretty! I have brushes. I will be adding spray starch to my shopping list. ❤

Oh my gosh Christine, I just found you & immediately subscribed! I love your ideas, your personality shines through….you had me at pigs blanket & dogs dinner! You remind me of Julia Childs of the art world, and I mean that in the best of compliments!! Love her, love you too!! Thanks for reminding me my glass is half full!! I’m a hot mess with pneumonia & you brought the biggest smile to my face! Thank you!! ❤️🥰🇺🇸. Happy New Year!!
That's wonderful Lynne, I hope you feel better soon and enjoy many more of my videos!
Never heard of using spray starch . Gives a lovely effect. Can’t wait to see you use some more backgrounds.
Thanks so much😊😊😊
I think my oldest embossing folder is swiss dots Cuttlebug. Like the result on the card . Jenny ❤😊
It's just the best isn't it! 😊😊😊
What a stunning card. Oh Christine I can't wait to try this technique, I will have to see if I have any spray starch. Thanks so much!
Have fun!
New technique to try, thank you x
Have fun😊😊😊
Such a lovely card, glad to see that you also fiddle with putting this die together, but it is so pretty. I have made this tecknique before, but with watercolour, as we are not able to get the spray stuff in DK, same as a lot of the powders you use. But it makes a good result with watercolour and cling film too. Thank you for sharing and reminding about this great tecknique.
It's my pleasure😄😄😄
Thanks for showing the technique Christine. I've done something similar with watercolour and cling film.. Exploring different techniques is great fun
I couldn't agree more❤️❤️❤️ have fun!
Great idea, never thought about starch, I used texture paste and mica powders
There are so many ways to have fun aren't there!
Great technique..who would knew u could use spray starch…gonna try with some flaked eye shadow..
Have fun😊
This is such a lovely technique..I got it wrong and thought you had used glycerine..lol. I love the shades of pink and red with the gold, and the C & P flowers are just that bit different, and your idea of splitting the white layer into two and using the Swiss Dots EF on the bottom, and adding the flowers along the angled join makes a very interesting design Chrissie. x
Thanks so much Pat 😊😊😊
Christine, thanks so much for your quick reaction to our requests for this video. Again you made a lovely card. Fortunately I have the Charlie and Paulchen die you used. So, hurray! I just have to wait to get rid of the bloody Corona Virus and then I can start crafting in 2024. Waiting for your next video. Best wishes to you
Get well soon so you can start having fun!
Oooo. A new technique. I've seen it done with shaving foam before, but not spray starch. (Didn't know that you were able to still buy it). It's nice to see imperfect shaped flowers. So many of the dies are 'just so'. Nature isn't perfect after all. Have a lovely evening.
I agree!
beautiful, tfs.
Thank you! 😊
Brusho’s are great for this technique
I know!
Lovely, as usual! I’ve been trying to find that flower die by C & P - any ideas on where to look?
Beautiful card, and those backgrounds are stunning. The petals on the card you made are gorgeous! I’ve used the cling-film technique with pigment powders and water, but not spray starch. I’m curious to know if you’ve done it without spray starch before and if so, what difference you noticed. Thanks for sharing! X
I've often used just water, but the starch adds a lustre to the finish!
@@Chrissieannie Ooh! fab. I’ll have to get my hands on some. Thank you! X
Beautiful results! Could you use a kind of fixative spray, instead of hairspray? I don‘t know the right word - in Germany it is called „Fixativ“. Just to seal some art chalk painting. Well done - Thank you!
You certainly could, I only had hairspray and that worked! 😊😊😊
Chris...YOU ROCK! This is my favorite technique of all time! I have a TINY cardmaking group on FB and my ladies call me the "Queen of Brushos" because Brushos and any kind of pigment powder, ESPECIALLY with shimmer are my favorite medium.
THANK YOU for posting this! I can now send people HERE when they ask me, how did you do that? 😁 Also, THANK YOU for wearing gloves! Pigment powders are so hard to get off your hands and out of under your nails. Gloves are a MUST for me. I was drinking a cup of coffee while watching your video and almost choked on that with laughter when you used the term "Pig's Breakfast". You are simply the BEST. Lots of love from Claudia in Santa Fe, NM USA
PS...One tip....I tend to let my Pigment powder/Spray Starch/Clingwrap pieces dry overnight with something heavy on them like a kitchen cutting board and a few books. This REALLY brings out the texture and wrinkles! 🤗
Wonderful comment! I'm sure that regular starch would do if you wanted to mix it up, but I haven't seen regular starch in the shops for years, actually I don't see anything in the shops, my husband does the grocery shopping!😊😊😊
@@Chrissieannie I have never used regular starch, I don't even know what that is? All I have ever used is spray starch. I do know that spray starch can be hard to find for some people, I have a friend in Canada that hasn't been able to find it in a store at all.
@@SantaFeLady Amazon is often the place to find things like that!
@@Chrissieannie Absolutely. Unfortunately, my friend is on a very limited budget...the spray starch on Amazon Canada was OUTREGOUSLY expensive. In the realm of $30 for 2 cans....not available to purchase just one can by itself. Crazy.
What an awesome idea!! I had never seen this before!! Thanks so much for sharing!! Could use eye shadow or perfect pearls instead?
Why not try!😊
This is how I use up my out dated eye shadow.
@@dixieallen7684 great idea!
I virly enjoy your videos ❤. I have try this too, and its always a surprise, what it will look like😊👌. But what is Starch?? I'm from Denmark, and I can't figure it out? What is it normally used for? I know we are bringing things from the kitchen, bathroom and so on, to our table. I know you have used it before.
I think Charlie and Paulchen, and Gummiapan is my two favorite companies 👌. What a beautiful card❤. Thanks for your ideas, and the tip with hairspray 😅👌
Starch is usually used to add stiffness to fabric for things like collars and cuffs of shirts. Historically it was used to add to the appearance of collars and help repel the dirt from normal wear!
Thank you so much for your explanation ❤@@Chrissieannie
I have tons of pigment powder but probably no spray starch. I will check the dollar tree though the next time I venture to one. As I won't be using it for its intended purpose, what's the harm. I love the variation of colors and, of course, the wonderful shine that many pigment powders give. Beautiful understated card.
Have some fun😄😄😄
I can't find our private messages Karen, but what a wonderful surprise arrived in the post today! Thank you so much for the beautiful dies. As you probably know The Frantic Stamper won't mail to the UK, so it was particularly great to receive them. It's so great to have such lovely friends! Thank you so very much! ❤️❤️❤️ I will be sending you Thank you!😊
@@Chrissieannie The messages were on Instagram. You're so welcome. Of course, I had to have that wreath die after you talked about it and I'd looked at sending it as a package originally and the price was ridiculous. So I put the thought aside. Then she was having a sale and it was the holidays so I again bought one for you. This time I just threw caution to the wind and sent it first class paying for the fact that it wouldn't go through machine. I was getting a bit concerned though as it's been almost three weeks and your holiday card arrived in one. Have fun with it!
@@kcinca5410 it's so, so kind. I looked to see when you posted it, it really did take a long time, but thank you so very much! I thought I'd looked through Instagram but couldn't find our conversations. I'll have to look again🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
This is a beautiful card. I wasn’t sure how it was going to look with the flower petals but you got it in the end. Thanks for showing how you made that paper. It’s a great technique. I have pixie powders, do you think they would work? Thanks Christine, have a nice day
I'm sure they would work, but there's one way to find out!😀😀😀
💜💜💜
💜💜💜
Lovely card in the making. I love those colours! I don't use starch. Do you think hairspray might work? Just experiment I guess. Maybe I'll look out for a small can of spray starch...
I don't think hairspray would have this effect. The starch leaves somewhat of a sheen on the surface of the paper.
@@Chrissieannie Thanks!
You are so inspirational. Where can I find this petal die?🇨🇦
Thank you cp-shop.online/produkt/stanzformen-blueten/
I dont think I've ever been able to figure out what the spray atarch does. What is the difference between using the starch and not? Thanks for all your tips and inspiration!
I think it adds a little sheen as well as acting as a medium for the powder!
@@Chrissieannie thanks! I appreciate the info. 😄
I just checked and I'd been unsubscribed! 😮 I do like your videos regularly, but I don't often comment since I generally have your videos playing while I'm crafting and dirty hands + smartphone is not a good combination. That's so crazy! I've resubscribed, so hopefully that helps your user count. Thank you for the awesome technique video (and so quickly after the diecut video!). I'm adding spray starch to my grocery list and will try this soon. 😍 You just used regular cardstock and not watercolor cardstock, correct?
I tried it will all sorts and they all worked out well! I often used scraps and left overs for background trials!
Love this technique. If you could only buy 6 each Lushes Powders...what colors would you buy??? I guess I am asking what are your top 6 favourites? TIA
I think my 6 favourite Luscious Powder colours are Out of the Blu, Magic Sparkle, Dragon's Eye, Verdigris, Peacock and Raspberry jam
