    Great idea using the ride-on mower transaxle. I have the same idea for my near future build; except I plan to use the rear axle from an early 90's Kawasaki ATV. It has a differential on it with the bonus of a lever activated diff-lock if I need the traction of both tracks. The built in shoe brakes should make for an easy steer setup as well. This was a shaft drive and I have the engine from a chain drive atv (with reverse) which I plan to tie in with this axle. Should be fun.

    for the tank cleats i would take them off and make new ones and this time put two bolts in it all on one side that will help from turning. the best.

      Thanks yes thats usually the problem I face youve got to have all your major parts on hand when building something from scratch. It takes a long time if you dont want to spend lots of money on parts.

    kinda late to the party, but why not do a wedge design for the turning leaver? Like a 30 degree wedge, on a track connected to the turning stick. This way you push into it causing more friction and you would not have to change much. Would feel more reliable as well cause if your turning and your band breaks, well, there goes the show. The wedge could be from the rubber pads from a ladder you don't need or something similar.

    Do you still have the tank?
    Have you made or are making an updated video of your tank...discussing modifications...tank moving?
    Would be great!
    I'm looking into building a 2/5 scale tank, and am researching as much as I can on youtube...that's how I found your video.
    Congrats!

      I thought of building one with 3 engines. 2 in the back and one in front. That way theres some leg room. I have all the stuff to do it. even front knuckles for 4 wheel drive. That might be a future project

    another thing you could do is get some hydraulic disk brakes off a old motorcycle and put them on in place of the v belt pulleys the disk brakes would never break.

    • @jeep2003
      @jeep2003  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes i have upgraded them to band brakes they are holding up well. I have a video on it
