What i like about your videos is that Kevin is EPIC, but you are more grounded, more accesible for the mere mortals that struggle with 2 tomatoes and one sad loofa
No idea why this video played in German for some of you! But I have been practicing my German, Portuguese, French, Spanish, and Italian apparently! I think TH-cam is experimenting with adding automatically dubbed language options so if you rather listen to me in another language apparently you now have the option to!
I doesn't only happen with your videos though. I'm bilingual and TH-cam somehow thinks I prefer the dubbed version even though I have been listening to German and English original audios for years. It doesn't even assume a preference for a language as it changes both languages to the dubbed computer voice.
Jacques, my favorite TH-camr! I’m hoping to add solar to my shed. My shed walls are so filled with tools, no room for pegboard so I admire the neatness. I wish I could find more content on garden shed ideas so really enjoyed this, especially as I need to expand the space to park a couple tractors. Your shed is a nice size.
Same here. Tools up everywhere. However considering taking them down to put up pegboards. This way we can put up narrow tool between snow shovels, garden rakes, roof rake for snow, push broom, levels, extension ladders, fishing rods etc. Snow blower and mower take a lot of space. Don't ask me where anything is except for the tool box on work benches.
Once you get the dc cables extended, bring them down straight to the bottom of the shed, then across, then up into the side of the vent. That way you won’t get water tracking down the cables into the wall. Also, flexible conduit will keep it tidier. Also, the skirting round the shed, would be nicer looking if you got some coloured pvc and fixed it to the base. It’s still off the ground so you’ll have enough air in there to stop rot.
For the Gods sake, just drill a frickin hole under the eve and pull the cord through. 🙄 Use some silicone around the wire entry point to keep out the water.
Around the base of your shed just add a “skirt” using woods, vinyl siding, etc. You can scribe it to fit the contour of the ground very easily and then paint it to match your shed.
On the dehydrator...my wife and I have the same one. We found that with smaller things "read that as leeks, peppers, and the like) they would drop through. A mess and a pain to get out. The dehydrator company sells these fitted plastic sheets that close off some of the gaps, while not cutting the air flow.
Thank you so much for this!! Because of you, we ordered a Tuff Shed and will have it delivered later this month. Love the ideas for how to make it even better!
LOOKING organized Jacques. Very nice. I bought a heavy duty deep plastic pooper scooper shovel, new. Saves time and energy over a trowel to scoop garden soil.
It looks great. Good job on the organization. That has to feel so good to go in and get what you need and know when it’s gone from its place. Pus, nice to have a work space. I’m looking forward to your next project. I hope to get an Eco flow soon. Thank you 😊
I would get some cable covers to put over your outside electrical wires and they can be painted to match your exterior walls plus they wont be loose. Of course you might already have this planned after you get your extension wires.
Excellent organization and updates to the shed! When you put up the gutter system for the water collection, remember to put up the guard so it's less clean up for you. I think the wired garbage could have worked for drying if you had multiple stacks into one another and spread the peppers among them, leaving the very bottom empty for ventilation, but the dehydrator works, too. 👍🏿
Yeah I think If I had them single layer they would dry just fine. Good call on leaf filters, at least one side of it would be catching leaves all the time.
Great video update on how you're making use of the shed. What a difference having space for stuff AND being able to find it later when needed. 🙃 Was hoping to see how you secured your solar panels to the shed roof to prevent them blowing away in the Santa Ana winds as I've been planning to add solar to my shed too. Thanks for sharing what's working along with any adjustments needed to make it better!
I actually have one of them big ice scoops cause I like it. My son works for the restaurant supply so I asked for a lot from him then big old bins that stores I don’t know dishes or ice. I ask him for that. I ask him for so much for my garden Trash bins. The ones with the wheels on it. I even use the RESTURANT supply dustpans the broom and the dustpan because it is so cool it’s almost like a pooper scooper, but I I use that a lot. I have made places where I can hang my tools at, but they’re in mydifferent parts of the garden and some in the garage. I have a garage and we use tools on both sides. I got those nice awesome hooks for like a shovels and rakes from Amazon and I have them to wear where they’re at when I walk in.
I put a small section of gutter over my back deck to stop the deluge into my sliding door. The gutter drains into a rain barrel that supplies my meat rabbits cages. ¼" tubing to nipples.
Love the shed! I wish I had the space for one. I can totally see it being your man cave. Add some tunes…maybe a mini fridge… I’m looking forward to seeing your mushroom growing video. I bought the boomr bin kit and I’m trying to grow lions mane.
Yeah, I find it's a novelty unless you want to spend a fortune. I spent $10,000 rigging my 17’ camper with enough power to do anything but run the AC. Didn't get a penny of that back on the resale.
There are for sure diy options that exist but they require more leg work and gathering of parts. I've watched a few videos on it and it is entirely doable. The downside is how they look and how flexible they are with use cases.
Nice shed! Having a stick-built, 8 x 10 shed has been a gamechanger for my gardening. Just a thought about installing gutters for rain harvesting. You've got shingles that can leach arsenic and other contaminants. For this reason, I'd only use water coming off the shed for ornamental plants. It's a bummer but safer. Metal or solid surfaces like the glass or poly panels of your greenhouse are a dif story, probably o.k. for watering all plants.
Hi Jacque, I am following a similar path with my top Shed. I already have my EcoFlow. Have you thought about running the solar panel wires through your ridge vent? The vent itself is just a matted material that should be able to be separated enough to get the plug through and would look a lot cleaner. Just a thought. Great job on the channel and love following everything you’re doing.
I had to laugh when Jacques said, "This is my sickle." I could hear Crocodile Dundee saying: "No, this is a knife"... Several years ago I bought a 50 gallon tub full of 'garden stuff' for $5 at my local thrift store. It was filled with lots of drip irrigation tubing, various small garden tools & an old sickle. The sickle is 2 or 3 times the size of Jacques' sickle, with a short splintered wooden handle & it was quite rusted. I set out to rehabilitate it, making it useful again. I sanded the splintery handle smooth & sanded the rust off the curved blade. It is made of a high carbon steel & cleaned up nicely. Then I decided to sharpen it. Oops! I got it sharp enough to nearly cut off a finger. After I got the bleeding under control, I oiled the blade & buried in the bottom of that tub! I didn't even want to look at it again.
hi jacques 🤗 i heard you in english and feel like i missed out 😂🤣 great shed organization. i use a dehydrator for my seeds, fruits and veggies. i had to return my dining room to its proper use, but only have space for a table and one metal shelf outside. i make it work. glad the chicken wire is a good temp solution. look forward to seeing the finished winter project. tfs
TH-cam decided to dub me in 5 other language and randomly select one for the viewer! Sorry I didn't select this but apparently English is the default now and should work fine! I wish I could pull off a full Bulgarian video but there would be a lot of UMMMs as I remember the words haha.
I would have installed rigid panels on the roof and mount them. One gust of wind and your can fall and break. Also would do a drip loop and a gland seal where the water doesn't get in. Also the wires will flap in the wind so would suggest using some kind clips to keep the wires on the shed wall.
I need a shed. Useless greenhouse is currently storage ‘cause summer is unbearable and keeping it cool is next to impossible. Will have to get my own property to get one until then…..
Hey Jacques: my husband won't let me put my EcoFlow solar panels on the garage roof because he doesn't want to perforate the roofing material to anchor the panels. How did you attach yours against wind etc? 💚
ooh. I have a "lean-to" or covered side porch that used to have functioning outlets, but now they aren't working and I was looking for a portable solution for exterior power for tools since that is very down on the list of home repairs we have identified. all portable things that live outside. Or as a very chill power back up for storm outages, just things like phones, laptops. Maybe a back up fridge. I will research, it seems like it has worked great in the greenhouse.
I looked at the Ecoflow solar panel system and the very basic one is about $300-$400 but the larger ones can be $2,000-$4,000! Wow. I guess it’s money vs. time but for us we have outdoor outlets so we are fine just plugging in.
