Holy cow does Gary Cole’s interview attire take me back to the late 90s! I worked for a small software startup and the CEO dressed EXACTLY like that all the time: white collar/cuffs, colored dress shirt and matching tie and suspenders. Our office looked very similar to the Initech office as well. I love Office Space, but it also takes me right back to my mid 20s and that specific time and place.
Stephen Root is great in everything he does. I never saw him before Newsradio, but as soon as I did, I was blown away! I hope he gets to do more stuff like Barry with Bill Hader.
I loved how John C. McGinley acted with barely restrained rage, like he was two seconds away from jumping across the table and just demolishing people at any moment.
I saw this movie in the theater the weekend it came out. I loved it instantly then and I love it just as much now. It's one of those rare movies that never get old no matter how often you watch it.
Lol at Mike saying he has to knock live action actors down a peg because of their egos. I can just imagine Mike calmly eviscerating a pissed off egotistical actor.
This is what I call my comfort movie, one of the greatest movies you haven't seen. The characters and environment created is just so full of familiarity and warmth. You just want to hang out with these guys. I've seen the movie several times and will watch it again. My buddies. I miss them 😊
Porsche abuse. It's similar to when Judge Smails grandson hurls cigarette butts and vodka into a targa. In Office Space, you can tell there's a nice one, and then they switch it to a junker to just YANK the bumper off. It's glorious. Also I think I remember a scene in Mrs. Doubtfire involving a car alarm.
yeah, its just crazy how time has flown. Just like those old fogies warned me 40+ years ago. Now its my turn at curmudgeon and warn you pre-adults, don't wast a minute, a few blinks and you'll be shaking your head that high school graduation was 30 years ago, even though it seems like a few years ago.
The fact that the characters discuss that a major aspect of the plot was lifted from Superman III. Mike Judge knows how to clear minor obstacles efficiently.
Milton’s squirrel story was particularly funny because a relative told me that he was so bored at work that he spent most of his time watching the “married” squirrels outside the window at work.
both my parents have worked in offices like this in the 90's, which I visited from time to time when growing up. Thankfully I have never had to endure much of anything like this, working in a small architecture office.
When I think of my all time favorite comedies I think Airplane! and Blazing Saddles but in some ways, this is actually just as great if not better. Contains a number of memorable lines that friends and co workers recognize immediately.
@@weirdshibainu - Many years ago, I interviewed for a position at Dell Computer. One of the mid-level managers that I interviewed with looked like Lumberg. He walked like he had a stick up his rear end. Needless to say, I didn’t get the job because Dell expected me to make a lateral move for the same money that I was making at my current position. BTW, I am currently making 35% more than I was asking for that Dell job.
This is the definition of a cult/sleeper movie. I remember it did so little when released. I remember years later it having done nothing on rental. I remember it did nothing on dvd. Then out of nowhere, it just grew and grew and grew. Many films get second lives but I cant think of one that had SUCH a gap where it did nothing for so long and finally THEN exploded.
Watch this movie so many times thought out my life, I never realized that the restaurant manager character, is played by Mike Judge. Never Notice until recently.
The Mr Lumburgh vs Milton narrative's particularly poignant & amusing Without drawing any specific parallels, just the concept itself Inept / ineffectual people arguing about trivialities with people who have some sort of deficiency of character... All he wanted was his stapler 😁
Former TGI.Fridays employee, 1999 at Raleigh,NC. I was persistently being busted for absense of flair. We needed TEN or more. I allways wore ZERO or less. They persisted with written reprimands. I had the highest sales tho, so, whut could they really do? I gave them a two week notice and worked there for another year. What can I say? The money. Was. GOOD.
i lived this life for years. the people, the situations, the atmosphere are all very accurate. it pretty much sucked the soul out of me and turned me into a bitter, stressed out, pipe bomb of a person. but it paid the bills.
I feel like so many people have become the annoying office worker on the West coast who wants to be positive about Mondays while thinking about burning your house down.
I worked at a restaurant and they required Flare too, but if memory serves it was a 'minimum of 8 pieces' so there was a minimum but it was a somewhat low number. I asked 'is there a maximum amount'. I wasn't going to reach it, but I was curious. One person did have like 17 to 20 pieces. I stuck with the minimum but eventually got like ten pieces. I didn't want to wear anything I didn't think reflected me but also I knew I could not just pick anything 'inappropriate' as your in front of the public. Like say a pair a breasts as an enamel pin is not something they'd find acceptable, plus you are getting tips so if you did that you risk being not tipped so there is an art to how you pick your flare. Personally, I picked things based on do I like the colors. I think I had a Jolly Roger pirate one for example. I liked it so I put that on. Some kid asked me "are you a pirate'. I said 'yes, I'm part of Blackbeard's crew". In other words, have fun with it. I had another that was colorful it as the Toucan Sam from the Froot Loops cereal. Silly sayings or jokes is another I liked, but again, I chose them based on if I thought the majority of people would be ok with that as I didn't want to hear from the manager about it, and the public, who again, are tipping so I kept it 'safe for work'. That is the only time in life I have ever had to wear that and generally I never wear stuff like that. I have a friend though that loves to put things like that on his personal hat so I give anything like that to him, and he can do whatever he wants with it.
This is such a painful film to watch. Painful because it is so damn accurate. It is a documentary of the hellscape that is modern working life. It so captures my existence within the organisation I am a wage slave in.
A VERY Cool video for the fans of 'Office Space' / to see this in retrospect. Because this a pretty typical puff piece that E.T. would do (that studio execs would ask E.T. to put on for publicity when they didn't believe in a project). Shows you how much studios don't know about great films or when a great film is being made....
I've used clips from this movie as training videos for some of the new folks at work. I'm not sure Mike Judge knew he was actually making a documentary.
I wonder how many cups of coffee Gary Cole had to consume while shooting this film. I wouldn't blame him if he never wanted to lay eyes on a coffee mug again. 😅
Where was this hiding for the last 25 years? Thanks for finally uploading it.
My guess would be a DVD extra.
@@CornishCreamtea07 most likely
Probably one of the greatest comedies of all time.
It’s not only a comedy but a documentary.
I can’t think of one single actor that didn’t nail his/her character in this movie!
That's one of the hallmarks of a great film. Every single part is perfectly cast.
@@creedor even O face , Ohhh Ohhh Ohhh
@@bradlafferty6076 yeah, and that little creep that Jen worked with at the TGI Fridays clone. :P
Diedrich Bader as the demo guy is hilarious.
Hands down. 👏👏👍👍
Mike judge captured the soul crushing despair of office life.
Yeah that was great
If only office life was not so soul crushing
There isn't a day that goes by at my company that I don't see something that reminds me of this movie. One of the best comedies ever.
Like the other day, when my office burnt down.
The customer facing guy who always goes apeshit.
@@frenchyroastify I wish.
The "peices of flair" exchange is such a simple yet deep representation of how companies view their employees vs how employees view their job.
This was not a movie, it was a documentary.
And the events happened in real time!
All Mike Judge’s movies are either documentaries or prophecies.
Exactly!
Just like Idiocracy (unfortunately).
One of my favorites! Its the kind of movie you can watch over and over. 💓
LOVE that the Bobs did their interview in character!
they are the bobs!

is your name also.... Michael Bolton? lmao
That's called having self respect and being an adult
Stephen Root is great in everything he does. I never saw him before Newsradio, but as soon as I did, I was blown away! I hope he gets to do more stuff like Barry with Bill Hader.
He's scared of little ole Burnadette. Gave Penny the job because she is too. ;^)
I loved how John C. McGinley acted with barely restrained rage, like he was two seconds away from jumping across the table and just demolishing people at any moment.
He's the guy from that thing!
Mike Judge is an absolute genius. Such a quotable masterpiece!

I always tell people that Office Space is the perfect comedy. Something that will always hold up and always be hilarious.
None of these actors had a clue they were making an absolute masterpiece at the time
The Bobs deserved their own show
McGinley is an absolute WARLOCK
Steve Root did such a great job he became Bill and alot of big roles after.
Lol at Mike saying he has to knock live action actors down a peg because of their egos. I can just imagine Mike calmly eviscerating a pissed off egotistical actor.

All time classic movie
The quotes of this movie have rattled in my head for the past 25 years as I've navigated many terrible jobs.
Gary Cole... one of the most convincing performances ever.
It's the best thing ever that Mike Judge laughs like Butt-Head in real life
I can think of a few things in life that are better.
To 'The Bobs' credit, I also have asked myself the following question about some co-workers over the years: "What would ya say, ya do here???"
Lumbergh’s Porsche getting towed was a great scene! 😂😂😂

It was great that Micheal Bolton the singer did a funny or die remake with him in it.
The fact that the characters discuss that a major aspect of the plot was lifted from Superman III. Mike Judge knows how to clear minor obstacles efficiently.

This was a great movie. I never get tired of it
Started out my post-collegiate life in the “office space” environment in the late 90’s. This was it.
both my parents have worked in offices like this in the 90's, which I visited from time to time when growing up. Thankfully I have never had to endure much of anything like this, working in a small architecture office.
Jump to conlusions mat was a great joke and the film itself is just awesome
Much like the Tarantino and The Coen Brothers, Mike Judge is a movie making creative genius!🎥🎬
Ron Livingston is the same person in real life as Peter's character.
"what would you say.. you do here?" 😂
Such. A. Quotable. Movie.
Probably one of the most important films of the 90s

Office Space and Idiocracy. Legendary movies.
In 1985 I had a boss that was exactly like Lumberg. I had colleagues that worked for him and after this came out, we all had a laugh about it.

My desk has been moved many times. Not too angry yet, but I don’t have to have flair.
Gary Cole actually got more handsome as a grey-haired man now.

A Cinematic Masterpiece.
Just my opinion. But Gary Cole as Lumbergh made this movie.
One of the best ever

They did so dirty with this film and with Idiocracy, the studio just did not care, and did not promote them at all, and they are brilliant deep films.
