Sammy took a concert to another level! No stumbling around like DLR, Hagar is the greatest frontman on the planet. Sing, write, play guitar and give the fans 110% everytime! Long live the REDROCKER!!!!
When these dudes were all sober they were the absolute best. AVH and EVH just killed it here. Sammy is Sammy. Musicianship, professionalism, artistry. These guys were so tight you need a stronger word than tight to describe them.
All the debate over Sammy/DLR misses the key point: Eddie wrote some outstanding songs for both! And this is one of them. Actually "Top of the World" reminds me of another VH classic: "Dance the Night Away."
THAT right there was the GREATEST band in the history of the WORLD!! Damn I still miss THIS Van Halen (Though both the Chickfoot albums AND the new VH album is amazing!!).
I'm a HUGE Van Halen fan, and I'm glad as hell to see so many comments praising Sammy Hagar! I've got Eddie's and Sammy's autographs framed and hanging on my walls. 2 of my 4 guitars are the ones that Ed designed (The Peavey Wolfgang and the other what is now called the Music Man AX40). I'm also saving for the new design Wolfgang. So many people seem to prefer david Lee Roth, but, I definitely prefer Sammy. Sammy can sing, write, and play guitar damn good, too. Roth is too pompous in my opinion
Great upload...so are your other ones from this show. I was at this concert and it's a night I will never forget seeing my overall fave band. I haven't been able to be at many rock concerts in my life due to work, where I have lived/moved, or just simply timing, but being able to catch VH with Sammy was a dream come true. I did see VH with Roth back in 2007...Roth wasn't too bad compared to the 2012 tour and nice to hear some of the "real old" classics but it was not the same imo and personally I feel the Roth era was over and should have stayed over. The 2012 tour vids I have seen make me think I'm glad I didn't waste my money. That kind of comment pisses off the Sammy haters, but I always say VH is my fave band, both eras rocked, it's just now DLR is a joke to me. I would pay $1000 for a ticket to see Sammy back in the band.
i was with three friends there on a concert of the balance tour Bon Jovi was headliner. Van Halen was awesome i take a picture with sammy the cooles dude on this earth VH Forever!!
@@gfgranja 1995 in Germany, City was Bremen in the Soccer Stadium, Opener was Little Steven with band then Ugly kid Joe, than Van Halen and at least Bon Jovi!!!
Van Halen was firing on all cylinders here. Eddie burning it up as usual. Alex keeping time like a Swiss watch while throwing in fills a lesser drummer would flub. Sammy wailing away. And Michael. Michael Anthony’s backing vocal MAKES THE SONG. Without that high “STAAAANDING ON TOOOP!” It would still be a damn good song, but that vocal makes it a GREAT song. His contributions cannot be overstated. 🤙🏼
I saw Van Halen 20 times between 1980-2015--12 of those were with Sammy Hagar as the lead singer. Van Halen and Eddie Van Halen never played better live than between '91-'95. I said it because it's fact.
@apmgr251 Lucky. I'd sell my soul to see them at this concert with Hagar. My whole childhood of playing guitar so far has been to try and modify every fucking gutiar I spend money on to get it to sound half as good as Ed's. Haha.
Eddie if you're out there watching... PLEASE recognize that you don't have much time left to make things right. Bury the hatchet. Do the right thing and give us one last tour with Sammy and Mike.
Brown sound. I think this was the last tour with the Musicman and I know that Ed was doing some strange sh1t with his 5150's back then. He might have been using 5150 II not sure. I do know that Ed would have 4 full stacks dirty and 2 full stacks clean -- at the same time. It gave a warm buzz, lots of chorus, and wet. Brown Sound. Personally, I liked OU812 sound. Very similar to Fair Warning. Plexi Marshall sound.
I actually prefer this sound. Edward said in a Guitar World interview, and I believe him, that all he did was plug straight into his new amp (remember he changed amps at this time too) and mixed in a little delay, and most importantly, an awesome Eventide Harmonizer. When you are a sole guitar player in a band, the Harmonizer makes the guitar sound massive. That was his main sound from 1991-1995. Of course he used a few pedals for his solo and certain parts of songs, but his main sound came from the delay and harmonizer. I felt his Kramer period was too bright for me. I preferred his self made Fender plugged into the old Marshall more than the Kramer which I think he mainly played to keep his guitar in tune better. The Peavey Wolfgang was okay, but his new Wolfgang Fenders are just too "hot" for me. Not enough articulation. Way too fuzzy
He was NOT using that many amps or cabinets. They were on stage BUT not used. He used 3 heads and three 4x12 cabs and he would use a wet, dry, wet rig. No clean. I don’t know who told you that.
The only complaints I have are the guitar sound is a little too wet...the 1993 world tour was the best. And of course they are tuned down a half step or so for Sam. That kinda sucks...
hey man you seem to know your stuff, I been trying to mimic this tone for some time now....What do you mean by a dummy load? and do you know any common pedal I can use to maybe achieve this?
*LISTEN* I am a wayyyy bigger Roth fan but Sammy had his good songs too, and sammy sang better live but Roth was and always will be better for song writing.
Love this era of Eddie's guitar sound!
Probably my favorite song of the Van Hagar era. Positive message, good riffs, great song and they were in their prime. Long live the Van Hagar era!
Hands down one of my favorite VH tracks. It pumps you up and gets you smiling. This live version rocks.
So thankful VH gave us this little slice of perfection.
Eddie’s sounds incredible here. His tone is off the charts. Of course he always sounded great.
Mostly true but he was BRUTAL in the 2004 Van Hagar reunion. Dude was a mess. Sammy was livid.
the Balance record deserves better attention

This song is Van Hager in anut shell. "Standing on top, of the world.....for a little while" until egos got in the way! Miss you Van Hagar!
Missing more than that these days 🍺
Standin' on top of the world for a little while
Rest in peace Eddie Van Halen
That opening riff... Blows me away every time!!
And it is the ending riff on "Jump"
When these dudes were all sober they were the absolute best. AVH and EVH just killed it here. Sammy is Sammy. Musicianship, professionalism, artistry. These guys were so tight you need a stronger word than tight to describe them.
🤗. One of the best shows I have EVER seen. Thank you, Sammy, Eddie, Alex, and Michael❤️❤️ for one HELL OF A NIGHT!!!
Sammy Hagar is supreme on vocals...
great performance
I wish I was born in the 80s so I could of seen them live😢 RIP EVH
I love that fill he does at like 1:20. Creative, cool technique, tasteful, still melodic and fits the song.
Yup, same notes as the record just played in a faster rhythm I think
Yeah that's just perfect
All the debate over Sammy/DLR misses the key point: Eddie wrote some outstanding songs for both! And this is one of them. Actually "Top of the World" reminds me of another VH classic: "Dance the Night Away."
My 2 favorite VH songs
I have said this song reminds me of “Dance the night away” for ever sine I heard it back in 1991. The structure is very similar.
Exactly! 🤙🏼

The BEST VH lineup ever! I saw this tour. Never sounded better!
LOVE this song!!! Great performance!!!
RIP Eddie.. The rock and roll world has a broken heart... Only wish I could have saw him live 😫
Sorry you didn't. I saw them on the For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge tour. Unreal!!
I got lucky enough to see them 3 times. On the “OU812” and “Balance” tours as well as the 2004 reunion.
Lucky 6 for me. 84 to ‘04 Wished I would’ve seen them later but life got in my way. Oh well 6 is better than nothing
💜💜💜 still one of my favorite VH songs after all these years

No way DLR could have ever pulled this off...
Thank You 💕😊 Girl . Madres.

I love this song!!!
Eddie is so amazing, also he is wearing the most 90s clothes 😅
Mohamed Al Shaiba
Well, it is the 90s...
Grrrrreat tune.
My favorite Van Halen song.
must have been a great tour!
No studio musician here. Compare to the album, it's amazing how close this is.
Eddie is the best guitarist period ❤⚘
Top No 1000 Top of the world Edd n Sammy No 1 it's my first and last fav' song
This makes me think of what Sammy and Ed could have created if things didn't go sideways in 96.
love you DAD rip

Van Hagar Forever.
This was the best VH EVER sounded. Period.
Agreeed
fair warning lord
I would actually say around the F.U.C.K. time period was the best they ever sounded, but this is close.
Live without a net
@@Soprano_661 Disagree. Van Hagar hadn't gotten it's bearings yet in 1986. The New Haven concert was a sloppy mess.
I hope Alex's drumming isn't forgotten here
at least sammy always sang the lyrics unlike roth. roth was great fun and right at the time. as mikle said, sammy took us to another level.
Nice playing eddie
Sounds great
I asked my self why these days there Isn't songs like this?
Edy van hallen....never die....
I love hagar, love roth more. I love ALL of Van Halen
@wikkedwood Ed used a lot of chorus pedal (I think) this night and Sam's voice was shot a lot on this tour.
How is there a thumbs down lol. Sammy haters!!
2.29 AMAZING!
Alex with the neck brace. Ed had the hip issue and probably cancer. Still playing.
How did 6 assholes give this thumbs down? WTF?
Roth fans
Van Hagar Rocked the world period !!!! F'K DLR !!!!

No need to bash him on his opinion. There are ways to state your's without starting a flame war on my video.
Eddie is King.
@apmgr251 mhm haha, the only reason I want a new album is because its my goal to at least see one incarnation of the band before i die.

The audio on this is almost too good. Surely this was overdubbed. Ed’s guitar is is right in your face, like it was tapped off his pedal board
Seen them 3 times with Sam. Twice on this tour. They were this tight. Edward spot on. Also on the F.U.C.K. tour super tight. Just awesome.

1/2 step

Frank Umile buy a 5150 pedal and mxr phase 90 and you are done with that tone ;)
Come on Dave give it to him
なんかやっぱマイケルアンソニーだよね!
Tap Harmonics the best
and tuned down a 1/2 step!

Ed's best haircut ever!
wong5150 I actually kinda liked his hair in around 86, and it also looks really good now
You might be bad but not neck brace wearing Alex VH!
@apmgr251 roth is only good at shoving mobile phones into his pants and enjoying his own self. he's a rock "star" but he's no musician.
it sure was THE BIGGEST MISTAKE.....Hagar has the voice, no doubt about it....listen to new v-h with roth. sucks......
Sammy had to re-record "Live right here right now", so yeah...
...because of Eddie. Read the book.
No soporto este cantante...

Alex's Bass drum sounds like shit in this. Sounds like its being hit with a pancake
Which is a shame because his snare sounds amazing
keep crying about it at a chickenfoot concert
the new roth is better than half the hagar shit. you can pretty much ask ANYONE, roth will always be known for the real and better van halen
Do who cares. You don't like Sammy then get the fuck off the video.
Roth can't sing anymore. I'd rather hear MUSIC. I could care less about a band's reputation or image.
Wrong video, bud.
