Growing up in the 1960s, my parents had a cedar lined 'seasonal' closet where our woolies, my dad's Viyella shirts, my wool skirts, mittens, etc. were stored. That wouldn't have been too bad except that there were always mothballs thrown in for good measure. Effective obviously because the only time I saw the darning mushroom come out is when my dad got holes in his mom-made wool socks! I think your jumper looks great - will really suit jeans or a corduroy skirt!

Ah yes! Cedar! That’s the wood for couldn’t remember when filming!

It seems to me that this has been a bad year for MOTHS.

Have you tried any other mending methods? If so, which one do you think would be most effective? (I was wondering whether a knitted patch might work on the larger holes - possibly sewing it to the inside of the garment and then stabilising the worn stitches from the front. I remember my Dad doing something similar to this on a blanket and, although it was quite visible, the mend lasted for years - I think he learned to do it while serving in the forces!).

Knitted patches would work, but on a garment you’d really want to match the original gauge, which can be tricky. The woven patches from this little loom are certainly quicker for me. But essentially it comes down to personal preference and the look you want to achieve. There are many effective ways to mend things, so it’s about choosing the one that works best for you - I was tempted to add fabric patches to this one in places too, which would have given an entirely different look!
