Teambhp and a lot of websites state that Carens is based on the K1 platform (i10) and that is the reason for the MPV shape and more affordable price. While Alcazar is based on K2(Creta/Seltos). Would be great if you guys can ask the brands and share what's the truth. Great video!

12:47 about the picnic trays: I own the old Alcazar and I use the picnic trays to stand my iPad on it and watch videos and stuff while it's not my turn to drive... Pretty useful for that purpose once you try it. However, it is indeed too bulky, especially in the 1st Gen Alcazar, and definitely eats into rear seat space! Honestly we bought this car for just 3 of us to travel comfortably on long distances so the rear seats are in their rear most position and we still have a lot of legroom so it doesn't really bother us!
I think the Alcazar is placed perfecly. It is a segment of its own. 7 seater, practical, understaded. Everyone whon is not looking for a SUV but 7 seater. More of a Estate territory. my society has more Alcazars than scorpio, xuv700 combined. it is a non MPV, non asking for the attention SUV, with almost all the practicalities and none of the show factor. Perfect.
It's a really special car, you Slot-into 1st gear and you'll hit the front passenger's thighs Slot-into the second and you'll hit rear passenger's knees. Steering size would make you feel it's been lifted straight off an old Tata Truck. Only special cars car do such things.

I’m using the Carens Prestige manual, it has black cloth seats and the roominess is same as top model. Oh yes, the comfort of the Carens do trump Alcazar everyday. Can the Alcazar captain seat be swapped with Carens driver seat as the driver seat of Carens does not have enough underthigh support is very less?

That said, it might make more sense to go for a base model Innova Crysta instead of the Alcazar. Plus, the Innova with captain seats has an option where you can keep the middle seat, which adds to comfort as Shumi mentioned.😄
Apart from the weight, I think the Diesel misses out on the sunroof so as to price it at par with the Turbo Petrol. Top variants are identically priced !!

Plastic tail gate🤨 Don't you mean Composite, which is like industry standard for cheap way to save weight. Expensive way is carbon fiber. Extremely cheap and unsafe way is fiberglass. Composite material for body panel is good middle ground for affordable weight saving.

I returned after a detour to Karti's Estilo review 😅. Well, why someone needs to consider a Alcazar/ Carens when a XL6 with CNG can fulfill the needs of customers?
It is interesting to note, and if you have been observant over the years, which obviously our hosts have been... Hyundai somehow fails to make sense anything over the mass market segment... For instance, until 2010s, they failed to make sense beyond the Verna... and definitely could not bite a very big pie of the market with the Sonata, Elantra or Santa fe... Beyond 2015, as the market started to grow, until today where the mass market is around 15-20 lakh, they have successful products like the Creta... alcazar is therefore an attempt trying to balance the luxury of a Santa fe in the price of a Creta... Thus, it sells better than what Santa fe used to sell, and typically much less than Creta... Hence, Hyundai is learning about the premium segment of India, but very slow!!!
About that sound insulation is poorer than other Hyundai cars.....maybe it's because of weight reduction that you talked about earlier. Because good sound isolation requires ample amounts of sound proofing materials on floor, doors and engine bay. Which makes cars heavier

Superchargers increase complexity, cost and sap power since they are driven directly from the crankshaft. Whereas a turbo uses waste energy. Supers generally good for larger engines. Hope that helps!
Correct me if I am wrong I believe the pre-facelift Alcazar never came with the 1.4 GDI it was launched with the new 1.5 GDI after the 2.0 . The 1.5 GDI came in with the Alcazar and the interim updated seltos .

Not a tata fanboy but having seen all 3 of the cars,safari is the best SUV if we r talking about highway rides and long 800 900 km rides ..I think it comes just next to innova crysta in terms of comfort and way ahead of XUV 700 and overhyped Scorpio N..

Correct me if I am wrong I believe the pre-facelift Alcazar never came with the 1.4 GDI it was launched with the new 1.5 GDI after the 2.0 . The 1.5 GDI came in with the Alcazar and the interim updated seltos .
They meant 1.4 gdi which was in hyundai,kia cars...not specifically meant alcazar

Sir, for 1200-1300km a month you don’t need diesel. Please stick to petrol.

Disappointed that at 5:25 ,harrier and safari name didn't come up...
Not a tata fanboy but having seen all 3 of the cars,safari is the best SUV if we r talking about highway rides and long 800 900 km rides ..I think it comes just next to innova crysta in terms of comfort and way ahead of XUV 700 and overhyped Scorpio N..
