I’d call the DMV and see. There has to be some kind of registration. If it was a foreign boat you should be able to title it as long as there is proof it’s not stolen.
Just show FWC some picture of the build and you should be ok. I mean nobody builds a boat and doesn’t take any pics of the progress. They are just trying to weed out any possible stolen boats.
I just went through this for a 12ft jon boat. It's all done finally but I don't know about through HIN number plate, they didn't give me one to attach, do they send it with the title or do I need to have one made?
Hello! I have a v hull with the numbers messed up. No title. Or bill of sale. Was giving to me from a friend said it was a Georgia boat. So what you saying is i should just build it repaint it and then call them?
I had an old boat given to me with no title, it needs a floor and transom, pretty much a complete overhaul. It does not have any hull numbers at all. If I keep my receipts for all the glass and resin, wood etc will this process work?
Yes it should. Take lots of pictures of the progress and if it doesn’t have a hull ID you should be able to retitle it as home built and they will give you a new hull ID for it along with registration.
I bought a John boat 10ft just bill of sale no vin number on it.! Can I register this boat? Do I have to call the number to get it inspected? Thank you
I’m assuming there was no title or registration with it? If you have a bill of sale the dmv should be able to find something on file for you under the previous owners name. If not, there are processes they can walk you through to get it retitled.
And any boat on the the length of 16 foot doesn’t have to have them come out any boat over 16 foot they have to come out and inspect it Power I was looking at two I looked up on the website
Good day , I purchased an inflatable boat, I had the officer check the vessel, everything was ok,but when I call the dmv, they said I was supposed to be given some paperwork ...the only thing the officer told me is that he was going to submit the information....it's been a week....any thoughts or advice...would be greatly appreciated...thank you..
Thank you so much I've been looking everywhere for a video like this
Absolutely. Glad to help
Thanks for sharing this! I’m in FL too so super helpful.
Super easy. Just make sure the boat is 100% done before you call
Is there any way you have found to get a title if owner has no title? Had this situation with a foreign panga.

Another thing to add I don’t think you have to call FWC for inspection unless the boat is over 16 feet
That is correct. This boat is 16’7
I am buying a 17ft aluminum tunnel skiff a guy made out of his garage and I most likely will not have any receipts what do I do?

I never got a HIN to attach to the boat. Just the title paperwork
I belief the pictures they took during the inspection are attached to my registration/title in their system

You would need to document the rebuild so they can see you paid taxes on all your materials, then yes, you should be able to get a home built title.

Is this applicable to brand new hull shells that I see for sale and need everything else to complete ??
If you buy a brand new hull shell it likely comes with a uscg placard already and you wouldn’t need to do this. Just take that info to the dmv
I got a 12ft John . No hull ID
Can’t put a trolling motor on it unless it registered. Any thoughts
Jon boats are a tough one from the research I’ve done. You might have to go dirty on that and don’t get caught haha
I bought a John boat 10ft just bill of sale no vin number on it.! Can I register this boat? Do I have to call the number to get it inspected? Thank you
Under 16’ you shouldn’t have an issue with an inspection. I’d call the number and ask how you can obtain are title for it
What if I have a 18 rinker with bill of sale, how can I go around on doing this.?
I’m assuming there was no title or registration with it? If you have a bill of sale the dmv should be able to find something on file for you under the previous owners name. If not, there are processes they can walk you through to get it retitled.
did you find out how?
@@inthenameofmyfather3836 yes I listed it in the video
So how do you do it if your boat is under or at 16 and you don’t have the receipts for it Have the vin number tho
Under 16 you don’t need to register it
@@LightningCapitalLiving This is objectively false. It says right on FLHSMV that any boat with a motor, regardless of length, has to be registered.
@@slothbasket3660 also depends on where you use it. If you’re on a private lake, no you don’t have to register it.
You don't got a hair on your ass if we don't tow that thing down to Lake O and put a gator in it 👀👀👀. LFG
Until you figure out how to hunt gators I’ll keep my hairy ass in St Pete
@@LightningCapitalLiving I've figured it out... I just suck at it.
