Barcelona, and having a hilarious blast. I don't like Depay IRL, so I loaned him out to PSG. Also loaned out Busquets to PSG, with a mandatory buy clause at end of season. Loaned out Roberto, and sold Coutinho to United for 30m. Lastly, sold Lenglet to Newcastle for a cool 48.5m and loaned out Braithwaite.. All-in-all, a great clearing of deadwood (although honestly, I should have kept Roberto for squad depth and that awesome workrate/stamina). But this is my experimental Beta save, let's see where it goes. As for pickups, I poached Ibrahimovic and Kessie from AC Milan. I'm a sucker for technique merchants, and I always enjoyed Ibra at Barca despite the history. I didn't see Dybala freaking out about wanting to leave so missed my chance to pick him up... PSG got Dybala for, guess what, a mere 12.5m euros. WTF, right? Been playing two systems. Stardard Barcelona 4-3-3 with a Half-back, dual Wingbacks and Ibra as a DLF with Fati on the LW, and Collado/Pedri/Demir on RW. Ansu has been in sick form, scoring 11 goals in December in all competitions. This save has been lowkey hilarious - Ibra does what Ibra does, goes missing half the time and scores WTF goals. Also, he loves scoring against Madrid seemingly. Maybe his Ego is just the thing we needed. His 20 leadership made me smitten to make him captain immediately, and now he's one of three squad leaders in my dressing room. A true warrior with the heart of a lion and the consistency of clouds passing through the night sky. I hit a horrible patch early on, losing to Cadiz and Atletico back-to-back, then drawing to Valencia (so thats 1 point in 3 league games) and Wolfsburg (CL match). During this patch, I earned three penalties in three different games. And amazingly, Ansu missed the first PK, Ibrahimovic missed the second, and Aguero missed the third. I think the game hated me at this time. But with my excellent management abilities, I forged a comeback and now sit at an impressive fifth place. The fight is for Champions League football, and hilariously, the signing of Kylian Mbappe in the summer with is EXTREMELY INTERESTED in joining the greatest team in the world, aka Barcelona, ON A FREE NEXT SUMMER. Oh, and I put Luuk de Jong on Barca B and hasn't played him once cuz... he ain't even registered. Other funny news includes Araujo getting injured, recovering, and getting injured again. Dembele, upon coming back from months off, decided to get injured again for a month before playing a single game. All-in-all, a very funny save trying to rebuild Barcelona and not get fired.

The IF plays more like a winger, and the match engine prefers midfielders to pass to the IF's weaker, outside foot which causes the IF to run wide. So trying other roles like wide Trequartista and Raumdeuter. Cheers!

@@777jimothy Inside Forward is currently broken, as in, it's not working properly. IFs behave more like wingers 70-90% of the time and only like proper IFs 10-20% of the time. I've tried lots, lots of of games on the new FM22 Match Engine, watching playe rmovement in 2D and 3D, and looking at the match analytics. IFs tend to get in more crosses every game than total shots, which is sad. Inside Forwards are crossing more than Inverted Wingers and fullbacks sometimes. It's really weird. Another broken thing is pressing. Pressing is hard coded into the match engine. What this means is that there are "pressing triggers," and the hardcode doesn't like your players pressing collectively very much. It's... rather sad. SI better fix these things before release, otherwise I'm just going back to FM21. Cheers
I have a video idea you might like. For years on FM I've always used this and benefited brilliantly. Youth Intake is always a gamble however looking through the intake an picking out obscure country youth players. Ever wondered why youth wonderkids from Iceland, Norway, Sweden etc do really well in the game. If you pick up the best of the 4 youth intakes, they develop quicker than home grown talent because the pool is smaller and they get international games earlier than your other youth intake. Perhaps try a simulation and see the difference....

@@prototeck90000 by the end of my Beta save I had trimmed the whole squad structure, and my u18 were pretty much all loaned out for a fee in the 3rd and final season. I missed out in the semi final of the Europa League in the second season but qualified for the Champions League for season 3, won the Coppa Italia in season 2. Won the Europa League season 3 as well as the retaining the Coppa Italia. Had I carried on I would have struggled in Season 4, my 3 best players were all wanting to move and I would have been forced to sell them before their contracts ran out. The board were not giving much of a budget and I was only allowed 70% transfer revenue. Sampdoria were one of and probably were my fave Italian team. I will probably go back and do a longer save with them at some point with more of a focus on the youth players. In a short save like my Beta save didn't really look to them much, I think only 1 or 2 players became remotely regular players in the 1st team.
Beta save is Valencia - some very good young players at the club. Using a good old 4-4-2, signed Arezo to partner Maxi Gomez. Looks like I might lose Soler sadly, won't sign a new deal due to interest in him. So need to find a replacement just in case

I had to try Man U now that Ronaldo is back. He has 20 goals in 14(3) matches, so I'm enjoying it ;) The locker room sometimes feels like a retirement home, instead of a football club, but I'll clean that up over the next couple years hehe.

Hi Luke! Awesome videos! :) You talk a lot about Stamina, what about Work rate? isn't it important for your pressing, or is stamina the most important thing in 22, for gegen pressing? :)
It's more that Stamina has been reworked in the game and you will notice how tired players get even by the second half of a match.. stamina is super important for those gegenpress roles if you want players to press all match long.
Will start the Beta save with Spurs, I don't think loads of people will try them but I think they do have a few players good enough to fight for UCL (I usually do Arsenal but Spurs might be a good try in FM22)
