I love you John Piper! So grateful for your shepherding and ministry!!!Conservatives care about real racial justice and equality before the law/opportunity! We just don’t like false or exaggerated narratives that attempt to outrage minorities/liberals in order to hand leftists top down control of government.
    God Bless you Pastor John!
    I love ya

Be humble and compassionate, believe African Americans. Acknowledge you’re ignorant about much of what it’s like to be a BIPOC in the U.S.
Conservatives have never championed equality and justice for Minorities. We don’t need narratives to be outrage… what we personally experience in the U.S. daily is enough

Conservatives hated Affirmative Action, though have no problem with Nepotism. Explain why God would be pleased with this?

We should be guided by faith and not by FEAR, If God wants us to speak to kings and those in authority then we must do it. Our reputation might be in line but our reputation in heaven is what really matters, Obedience is everything!

It doesn’t mean that Christian can’t be involved in politics we have that responsibility as Americans the danger would be to believe that we can take over the country with Christianity and legislate morality but it is a fine line and when there’s a lot on the line we shouldn’t discourage people from voting for the best candidate

    • @eatpolo

All opinion Piper. But what does the Bible say. A pastor must be a watchman and warn his flock. To teach in ALL biblical matters. All political matters stem from the spiritual. The reason why the church is where it is today is because the church and it's leaders have been silent

I can only go by what God tells us to do and that is to pray for our goverment and to follow its laws as long as they do not go agaisnt God which is coming one day.Politics is just like religion, not one of them will get you into heaven. The church is not a building, its the people in the building.Saying your a christian is nothing more than and english word.A relationship is what its all about. The more we talk about the worldly things the happier satan is?When its not bible satans happy.

@68grace Your opinion of him is different than my opinion of him. One of us is right. As a person who spells the word "polarized" I wonder if I have a bit more constant and personal connection to the situation than you, but to each their own. It is true that Christians polarize, it is also true that people who do not want Christians to stand on their beliefs tell them that they are too polarizing. Jesus said he did not come to bring peace, but to set family and friends against each other.

I do not think he advocated that happening, but was just pointing out that it would. On the other hand, he did say he came to bring the sword to divide. I only try to follow and understand, not redefine...

When you read the books of the New Testament you have probably asked yourself many times: "Why is it that for 2000 years we have not seen the miracles that accompanied the Church of Christ in the first century as the New Testament describes them? Why is it that so-called preachers of Christ have to prove that Jesus really existed, while atheists have the audacity to deny the historicity or divine origin of Christ? Maybe because the Church of Christ ceased to exist after the first century. There is no Church as it is described in the books of the New Testament, but there are Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant and other Christian sects, claiming to be the Church, but not having that one thing that distinguishes the divine from the human and is characteristic only for the Church of Christ - the backing of the word with signs, that is, miracles (Mk 16:15-20). That is why part of the researchers doubt the historicity of Christ, and part of them do not mind to declare Him a real person, but an ordinary philosopher, a teacher. But even if Jesus was an ordinary philosopher, His disciples would have been ordinary followers of Jesus. And they would not have dared to write about the miracles that not only Jesus but also His disciples could perform. If in our time there were a Church as described by the authors of the New Testament books, where miracles are performed - healing the sick, prophesying, raising the dead - no one would doubt the historicity of Christ. Then all over the world there would be the same disputes as in the first century - Jesus is the Son of God or a false prophet who seduces the world with miracles.
Find on youtube the message *"The Mystery of the Church of Christ"* . It reveals the prophecy of the disappearance and reappearance of the Church of Christ before the End of the World, giving hope to all who are sincerely seeking God and who are not lazy to think freely.

@jncarlos007 Polarisation is to divide into sharply opposing factions. It occurs when people make statements like 'one of us is right'. Uh, no- I think we would both have good reasons for our opinions, and it is simplistic to call a man an idiot, and not acknowledge any good in him at all. Here in the UK, evangelical Christians are well represented in all our political parties, and clearly stand up for their beliefs. I am a Labour supporter, but do respect our Conservative primeminister.

Well there are some democrats who are "anti-abortion" does that mean that the democratic party cares about the pro-life stance? Of course not. Piper was merely making a generalistic blanket statement, and if you accept it as that then it is true. He was not saying that every individual republican does not care about "racial justice".
How come people nowadays are not able to generalize without making somebody angry? Generalizations are often needed to express deeper truths.

Preacher needs to preach Christ, not politics , from the pulpit. First, It is not a Town Hall meeting because there is no rebuttal. Any preacher who thinks everybody should not like a president, or like this other one, embrace this policy, but not that other one should be in Washington not in the church. I walked out of a church where the preacher thanks his president for building a border wall to keep us safe, tells you who, or what policy he didn't vote for, vaccine, no vaccine, socialism, capitalism, communism, totalitarianism. fake news media, etc, etc. If you are in line with that kind of preacher, you are in the right place, however Jesus doesn't take the back seat. Either Christ is the head of the church, or He is not. There is more then enough Chaos, and confusion in this country to go around without it infiltrating the church.

  • @68grace

@jncarlos007 in your opinion only. he doesn't seem idiotic to me. but that's not the point. the point is that it seems to me that christians polarise too readily, and should be more balanced, like john piper appears to be.

As much as I admire Piper, I think this clip is a waste of time. Yes, he is passionate (as always). But upon which specific biblical texts did he base his opinions? Jesus is indeed king over all; all includes civil magistrates, who are and always have been charged to act in accordance with God's laws, NOT their own or those of the majority of the populace. I recommend Piper and other believers listen to William Einwechter, Greg Bahnsen, and John Weaver for the truth on social ethics.

Based on the book of Daniel , I would do it
The first thing I would tell him is to repent to God regarding his obamanation of the Bible, oops did I spell that Wrong? Then I would Tell him to read the book of Daniel and so that he may understand what becomes of men who do not glorify Gods name and falsely believe their positions of power were by their own work..Daniel the prophet warned and they chose not to listen. Ego's, they are almost as big of a killer in the eyes of God then pride .

    Daniel 2:21 states clearly
‘And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding: (Dan 2:21, KJV)
God’s vote is the only one that counts. He places all leaders for His purposes and we are to hold them accountable when they beak God’s Laws and man’s.
Other than that, we need to support the President and pray for them.
trump will get what is coming to him in this life or the next, let God take care of who is leading our lives.

@doulos444 I'd prefer he just read the Bible for the truth and retain his current biblical position. Period. Bahnsen et al. would have done well to do the same. Theonomy has little new-covenant foundation. Let's walk as Jesus did. This world is not our home.
Disclaimer: I will say nothing more here, as I am not interested in rebutting replies ad nauseam. Nor is TH-cam even a useful venue for true dialogue. I have said my peace. Soli Deo gloria.
