Much respect to brother Vernon. I just can’t get with preachers, speaking about money relating to old testament Bible. I am a believer in the Bible, and that Jesus Christ is my personal Lord and Savior, and has nothing to do with money. I did not last 20 minutes on this sermon and again is a supporter of brother Vernon. People in these times need more substance to survive and don’t need to speak about money.
It costs money to light and heat or cool the building, make it safe (repairs), pay staff. Who’s going to pay for that? Those who tithe. Obviously not you & at the end he quoted 2Corinthians 9:7 God loves a cheerful giver, even if it isn’t 10%

In Matthew 23:23, Jesus is not making the giving of tithe more important than how we live. He said it was ok to tithe because of the dispensation they were still in. He made it clear that justice (living right), mercy, and faith was more important than giving and that's because these things are what is needed for the world to understand who God is and be able to see him in our lives (John 13:34-35 NIV). Verse 35 says, "By this, everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." In the New Testament, 10% is not required because the Holy Spirit is supposed to be our guide now (see John 14:26 NKJV). He will guide our giving based on what he knows about us and based on his plan for us. Therefore, our giving will be by faith in what he knows is best so we won't go without what we need daily or weekly, for the just shall live by faith. Tithing a set amount is not operating by faith. God required this amount for Israel from their crops as a way to worship him for his provision of their crops. This and animals were their livelihood. If they obeyed the laws, they prospered. Now, without faith, the Bible says we cannot please him. Our personal needs and the needs of the church will be met according to our faith.
