Aside from football, we should focus also in futsal since we do have a lot of basketball courts in the country that's almost in the standard size like in indoor.
Agree, especially there many football scouts from football country's like England, Brazil, Italy and so on, who are searching for new talents all over the globe. It would be huge opportunity for Philippines to wide up in international sports event and as well for higher standard level of education, which it would huge benefits
Being honest here football is not famous in Philippines because Filipino think it's only for rich country but its totally wrong, you could play it having just a ball or empty battle stay with the walls behind and if the plastic bottle or ball hit the wall, you got the score. Idk but for me Filipinos is fitted in this sport because height its not matter.

i just learned again the updates about football in the communities now.before, what i know is about futsal (futbol sa kalye/football in the streets)in the urban poor communities and what ive known before is that its predominantly young boys during the early 2000s-2010s.and now in early 2020s,its the young girls who are leading the way.anyway, whatever gender leading our community sports is good for the country.
Great to see Women’s make the World Cup, but man making the men’s World Cup will be bigger and arguably best achievement this country can achieve outside winning the Fiba World Cup. Basketball is my live and favorite sport and I want it tocbe that way, but football is also a great sport I have grown to love, and all countries not just the Phillipines should invest into their teams and have a presence. Out of all team sports it arguably is the most unselfish and brings a country, city, etc together more than Any other sport. If you want evidence watch the current World Cup or previous world cups. No even world cups but the Euros, Copa America’s, etc, the feeling when you wins game for your country is one of the most beautiful and euphoric feelings in the world. Basketball will definitely be out love and bring that joy, but football can bring as well and I hope to see it grow in the Philippines one day and be at the bigger stage. It will be one of the greatest achievement in the Philippines if they can pull it off for the men’s, even more than an Olympic gold.
I mean we could always want football and not gain anything from it because we dont have the height. Our skillset fits football perfectly, fast, agile, stamina, and determination
Sadly mas sikat ang basketball at volleyball sa pinas. Basketball na puro puso ang panlaban at Volleyball na puro lovelife inaatupag kàya laging natatambakan ng kalaban.
Dont be negative thingking, if they are a good player im sure the PFF will give them a chance to represent the Philippines, actually half of the Phil. Women football players are from the Phils.
Half Pinays are much better than our local players as of the moment, we don't have grassroots program, we don't have a proper local league. How can local players compete with atheletes that play year-long outside the country? Of course the coach will pick whoever is the best candidate and the greater athlete. Brains over feelings, being a better athlete is not about wether they are pure pinay or half pinay, it's about talent.
Its Because of Philippine Women football team which Qualified for FIFA World Cup next year in which Football its not even the Number 1 sports in the country! Its Basketball!🙂
They have to get rid of that mentality! It makes them look dumb. The top 10 countries, heck let's make it top 20 counties in the FIBA world ranking, basketball is not even their number 1 sport. Philippines is not even close to that ranking considering they call it their number 1 sport. It's embarrassing. Realistically they have the skills in Football. They just have to shift their mentality to it.
Zero Ball Knowledge Phil Younghusband used to play for Chelsea, a professional team that is. Now, he's blasted off from Chelsea now the team is in danger of getting relegated.
Reason why football is not that popular as basketball, boxing etc. in the Philippines: Most lands are reserved for Industrial or Agricultural use. Also building a FIFA-standard stadium is expensive, unlike a basketball/ multi-purpose arena which costs you $50 Million-$100 million + In basketball weather you win or lose it's so easy to score because it takes seconds, unlike football it takes minutes to score. Filipinos love easy scoring sports.
football literally is one of the easiest sports to play. In basketball obviously you need a basket or ring, in volleyball you need a net. In football, all you need is a ball, if you want a goal, you can literally put what ever you find to make a goal post. If football is popular enough as a casual game, I doubt that it would be pretty hard to build a proper football pitch.
@@ragingtomato04 One of the reason why football isn't popular here is lack of investment, we don't invest enough in football compare to Europe. Also not enough space to build pitches that everyone can free to use.
@@NanobanaKinako First point I agree but that's because of lack of football culture, almost all of schools here in the Philippines doesn't have a football club or even include football as one of their sporting event. How can you have football talents when children isn't even exposed to the game. Second point I don't agree at all, countries like brazil, where people play football on slums called favelas where there's very little space, but football is still considered as national past time. Also, countries in africa and south east asia doesn't have a lot of space or funding to build pitches eaither, but still football is their national sport. Just this december, Morocco who almost has the same gdp as the Philippines, reach world cup semi-finals. If they can do it, why we can't? Space isn't a necessity when it comes to football, it's the culture.

Finally someone notice it.
Futsal has smaller football cage i played futsal alot of times sometimes its annoying but overall its a great improvement for your game
futsal is a bridge to become a football player, you start from here now you have to train on a bigger field of play.
If PFL continues growing football will the #2 sport in Philippines
number 3
Create a football league from scratch with better rules to make more clubs easier!
If only

The Philippines seems to be extremely more focused on basketball and beauty pageant.

There number 1 sport is basketball but couldn't even beat a football countries in basketball, lol
No they cant reach profesional, cause philippine football get half foreign as representatives
So what if they are half they still have filipino blood dont be racist
Welp, most of PBA Players are also Imports and you don't care but you bark like a Rabid dog when most of Football players are Import.

It's worse in basketball considering they call it their number 1 sport. They need the height which clearly is not from a pure Filipino.

Easy scoring sports is less challenging and less competitive. in football... protecting a 1 goal lead is crucial.
Also it's more like Filipinos prefer hand sports like basketball, boxing and volleyball which is obviously uses hands.
