@@king_of_fraudsThis Death is more of a psychopomp than a reaper, guiding deceased souls to the afterlife rather than causing them to die in the first place. Similar to Death of the Endless, Death of the Discworld, or certain gods of death in various mythologies and religions.
Love how Death is depicted by this artist. Not an unstoppable force or an uncaring hand, but rather a guide to a transition, the ear who leans in to listen to a parting soul. It's really touching. In Mexico, we consider death a part of life, not an end but a way to move forward and be remembered. Wish more people could see Death in that light.
I like to imagine if there is an actual “Grim Reaper”, it would actually be this way. My thinking is the reason Death has been depicted as a villain, or cold and uncaring is just our innate fear of the next step as well. There is no reason to fear what we all must experience. After all, life is only precious because it is so brief.
Death does what death need to do. Some people die violently and others die “nicely”, death isn’t always sweet nor is it always violent and cold towards those who die.

This is actually so beautiful. I love the idea that Life and Death are lovers or close friends. Kind of like real relationships where they say opposites attract, yin and ylang, etc.

Close friends, they're not allowed to love each other and dont posess the ability to do so either, these forms are just the manifestations of what we imagine those concepts to be like. Them being lovers is so boring and cheesy and such a poor way to go that it would legitimately ruin the story itself. A male and female that exiats a meter apart dont ALWAYS have to be in a relationship, friends exist. These things aren't even male and female, they're the embodiment of concepts that have no real physical form.

Considering the grim reaper is mostly based off of the greek god Thanatos, this is actually super accurate.
