    BD diesel makes a stealth cover to go on top of the vp 44 so you don't have to tap the wire and it makes a better connection. I have a smarty don't know too much about them they have 9 preset programs but I think you can download different ones to, I wish I knew more about how they work. The next mod I want to see you do on your Cummins is a banks monster Ram intake horn or a cowel hood.

    • @purepanorama8484
      @purepanorama8484 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Travis Hurren I think a lot of people just get eager to get their edge comp box installed and splice it right into the wire without spending the extra money on stealth cover. The stealth cover still taps the wire but is supposed to be more secure and sealed up for protection. I'd have to call and see if that voids warranties still because I've got mixed answers through other people about that topic. I'm planning on a intake horn soon, but I cant let ya know which one I was thinking about just yet! Haha

    VP44$$ issues are related to inner electronic failures components .... as electronic junk mixed with high heat levels doesnt last . no matter how much fuel you use to try to cool it.... There will be always issues because of heat to these inner electronic components regardless . Its a guarantee if the electronic components design was different and were mounted somewhere else OTHER than engine compartment high heat area on top of pump near the engine ~it would last much longer .

      Kingdom music What do you think is a better alternative fuel system to replace the 44 ? Will the 12 v mechanical pump be an option or what they call the p pump common rail system? What is economically freezable for a more reliable injection system? I had two of the second Gen trucks dropped in my lap and I've been totally restoring a 2001 4x4 3500 for a couple years and I have a 01 2wd 2500 I've been attempting to work all the problems out of while using it as a daily driver one thing after another. Only if Toyota would have introduced the 8.0L diesel 3500 dually in 2008 like they had planned to before the gas prices skyrocketed that year

    • @kingdommusic5456

      @@Nonsensenoalph advantages to the p pump are reliability and the ability to move stupid amounts of fuel. It's like the Holley 4bbl of the diesel world when you get it dialed
      Biggest and most simple way to describe p-pump is mechanical tuning. You will not see 30mpg with either, so throw mpg out the windows and pray for 20mph highway and be happy.Vp is easily tuned with with plug and play box, and can last a A decent amount of time but have money ready as it can fail when least expected , its trademark pattern. . Ppump on the other hand , once installed with/ without new injectors, and timed properly will have great results.Both have pros and cons. But ppump is a superior pump in the end, just a matter of justification on initial input cost and p pmps dont have the dreaded out of nowhere dead on delivery / middle of nowhere trademark pattern Like the vp44 electronic controlled time bomb circuitry its cousin has.

    24V runs really well with P7100. VP44 was always a piece of shit design. Sure, they work fine with all the correct factors, but to have a truck that dies because of a bad stock design is just wrong. P7100 only costs another $500 over a VP44 replacement if you just use the stock parts to convert. Don't buy some goofy $1000 "conversion kit" when all you need is the gear, the fuel lines and a used timing cover.

    As an ex-Chrysler mechanic, I can, tell you for a fact, that messing with the VP44 or the lift pump is a sure way to destroy the engine, Cummins engines are a finely tuned machine, mess with any of the settings for fuel delivery, and you can burn a hole in a piston, the only upgrade cummins specs is a higher PG lift pump, and larger injectors, adding boost stresses the crank and rods, and some cummins blocks have developed lateral cracks below the blocks deck surface. if you see any of these modification on a used truck, walk away.
