    “What does not align with me is not meant for me” is a lesson I learned here in my 30’s. It’s one of the toughest because I feel like we’re wired to believe everything will or can work out. Sometimes it’s better if it doesn’t and that’s ok. Growth can still happen when something doesn’t align.

    • @MauveASMR
      @MauveASMR  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      YES! Sometimes it's better when things don't work out. Also I think sometimes it's nice to look at something and just be like: oh, that thing isn't FOR me, it isn't mine, that's a good thing that's gotta go find someone else, and that's okay 😛

    The part about not trusting my future self to make good choices, by wanting to plan everything now, was mind-blowing, life-changing for me. I feel like you gave me a summary of some lessons I've also learnt these past years, but I had never put into concise words.
    A good affirmation that I have for when "What if it's easy?" goes wrong, and I'm actually facing something difficult, is "You can do hard things". It has helped me keep my motivation.
    Thanks for a great video, Mauve.

      So glad that one resonated with you! Also yes, totally-- "you can do hard things!" I have something like that too but tbh it goes more like "you're tough as shit!" 😂

    When my sister was in law school she had a little sign on her desk that said “If we don’t sacrifice for what we want, what we want becomes the sacrifice”. Im working and studying in Japan now trying to improve my Japanese, and I always think of that when I’m feeling too lazy to study.

    thanks for sharing this! i’m entering my 20s this year, so it feels particularly relevant. “there are some things you can’t think your way out of” resonated with me especially - i have a tendency to stew on my problems to the point where it does more harm than good, and hearing you share how letting things unfold can often be for the best was incredibly poignant. incredible video as always!

    As a 23 year old, I find some of these slowly coming true for myself. I used to worry about things a lot, now I just tentatively plan things and if they work out, it works out. If not, no sweat, life moves on. Another is being grateful for things, too many times as a younger adult I took food, shelter etc for granted. It's a wonderful feeling

    In my 30's I have learnt to try and help my family and friends out a lot more and be nicer to them even in uncomfortable moments because it gives more meaning to life which is what makes myself and people in general happy. Once you have kids it's a lot less about yourself and it's basically all for your family. Things that stress you out in your 20s don't even matter anymore. Way less time to think about it tryna run a household

    Your advice is always so soothing to me. It makes me feel like I’m on the right track.
    Sometimes if I’m getting worked up about something or I’m mad or whatever I’ll ask “what story am I telling myself?” We all have stories and ideas about ourselves and others that we can get sucked into. I try to check myself and see if the story is helping me. If it’s the cause of my strife, can I switch up the story and therefore switch up the perspective?

    • @MauveASMR
      @MauveASMR  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oo nice, thanks for adding that one! Also I KNOW you're on the right track bc it sounds like you do what you can to be thoughtful and intentional 💜

    Great video as always. : )
    My lesson is to protect your head. I got a brain injury, and got the holy trinity of fun: severe pain, cognitive problems, and complete loss of emotions.
    It’s been nearly three years since I’ve felt anything, so I’d like to say appreciate your emotions. Even the bad ones. Because that’s better than feeling nothing. And living in permanent gray.
    Fortunately, I’m a stubborn bastard. So I’ll be ok. Even if I’m dumb and numb. ; )
    Thanks for reading. Hope everyone has a great day.

    I found it surprising to hear that you don’t consider yourself particularly analytical, given how you tend to articulate yourself in such a thoughtful, well-developed, and layered manner. Just out of curiosity, how would you describe yourself in contrast to analytical? Would “reflective” be a quality that resonates more with you?

    • @MauveASMR
      @MauveASMR  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Ooo such a good question. Yes, maybe reflective or introspective or thoughtful! I tend to make decisions based on the way I FEEL about things, not the way I THINK about them, and I don't really reach for data sets to understand something but rather art/narrative/intuition -- so I don't really consider myself analytical :)

    • @themischa
      @themischa ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MauveASMR makes perfect sense, thanks for clarifying! I feel like I have one foot in both camps, because I’m a fellow INFJ, buuut I’m just about as Virgo as it gets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, AND Mars all in Virgo)… so there’s constantly this inner tension between Ni and the compulsive need to rationalize everything. I think, however, experience has taught me that following my intuition almost never fails, whereas neglecting it can lead to analysis paralysis. Anyway, lovely video as always (actually the entire self-reflection playlist just might be my favorite section on your channel), and I’m really looking forward to today’s as well!

    • @MauveASMR
      @MauveASMR  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@themischa "analysis paralysis" -- love that! Wrt to the "you can't think your way out of it" advice in this video, for me it applies less to strict analysis and more to emotionally-minded thought cycles/loops that never arrived anywhere, just to further clarify. Also don't get me wrong, I LOVE orderly info, as you can see on my channel 😅 But in terms of how I actually behave in / think about the world, it's very emotional/qualitative and not analytical/quantitative at all. Anyway thanks for sharing about you too! We sound similar for sure 👯
