Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crowns “Always Online” is GOOD or BAD?? - Here’s What My Thoughts..

- What’s up Guys!! In this video I go over why I think Test Drive being Online isn’t terrible but also why I think many won’t like it, I do understand the Internet part of being able to log into it but I think the game won’t suffer the fate of The Crew 1… The reason I say this is because the way they did that wasn’t good by any means, and this will in return make players unsure of all other games they have like The Crew 2 & Motorfest!! I really think TDUSC won’t suffer this fate and has a long life ahead of it, let me know your thoughts on this in the comments below!!
I hope you all enjoy the video, don’t forget to Like and Subscribe!!
“Online Only” could have some advantages but what do you think will be the biggest disadvantages?? Let me know in the comments below!!
The fact that the game may shut down rather than a offline patch
@@yathesansivaranjan4750 Yeah this also a concern of mine too!!
There is a high demand for both so developers need to consider this.
The fact that I couldn't finish 1 single race without getting disconnected has to be the biggest con for me.
If I "buy" a game I want to be able to play it FOREVER. Say what you want but I came back to FH1 and 2 for a while and it hit me how non-DRM saved those games
I agree on this, I do think it’s 1000% wrong how Ubisoft went about The Crew 1!! As you mentioned you should be able to go back and at least play it again, I think what should happen is sure make the game “Online Only” but towards the end hit it with an offline patch so people can at least log on and drive around and do some races if they want
@@Blockedinsight The Crew (aka HBO TDU On Xanax) even had a hidden offline mode if you change 0 to 1 in game files the offline mode will reveal except not fully functionable but the prologue and parts of freeroam WERE SUPPOSEDLY PLAYABLE
I'm just worried about the live service FOMO events. I'd much rather have a 100 hour campaign that i can play at my own pace
I actually agree on this, I think it would be more fun but wouldn’t force that on you so you could grind out certain events or something and get cars/parts you want then move onto other events and progress through the campaign more!!
having watched most of the public content for TDUSC, and participated in some non-public content i can't say much of what i've experienced but, i can comment about what is already public and everyone can see for themselves.
but i can say that what everyone is able to publicly see and from my experience i was not able to see any real major reason why it could not have an offline mode.
TDU2 has had significantly much more places and areas where you could communicate with other players, yet TDU2 had an offline mode.
TDUSC probably has significantly less places and areas where you can communicate with other players, and overall the amount of player to player interaction in Solar Crown when compared to TDU2 is significantly lower, probably even lower than what was on TDU1...
therefore, it really shouldn't be any issue for KT to add an offline mode to TDUSC.
and i really hope that KT do that, doesn't seem like it should be too difficult for them considering TDU and TDU2 had more player to player interactions but both still had an Offline mode regardless.
This is a great point!! Maybe they were Designing like that so they can add that to it 🤔
The number one concern about an online-only game is if the developer suddenly decides in a few years that, when releasing their newer games, turning off the server for Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown to use it for another game would be more beneficial, whereas we can still play the old Test Drive Unlimited games from over a decade ago. You mention that about the Crew, but other games are doing it too, like Microsoft with the original Forza Horizon and Forza Horizon 2 as well as Electronic Arts with The Need for Speed World.
Yeah this is something that is probably going to make many not want to buy the game too, it’s frustrating how it’s happening to many games but maybe they may have a plan for this one after what’s been going on??
and just recently we have Ubisoft did the same with The Crew 1, hell, even The Crew 2 & Motorfest and EA with NFS 2015 soon down on the line, which remind you the grim reality of always online
@@adlibbed2138 Yeah it’s terrible, I’m wondering if NFS will love a lot longer because it’s way more popular then The Crew 1 was even after 9 years
another one to avoid then which is a shame as I liked the first one and was very up to giving this a go
@@adroharv5140 I mean I don’t blame with the whole online only thing, but I do believe they won’t follow what Ubisoft did with The Crew 1
@@Blockedinsight some people don't mind even if a game's servers are pulled so the right and wrong of it is down to the individual I guess. I don't think it benefits if the games aren't playable after a certaain date of course because some will still want to play these games and unless patched will cease to function. Can't see this one being any different if it's tied to online to even function but who knows
Games should not be only online... not a fan of this.. option should be both
Yeah I think that is a better way to do it as well, but the other way though is if they plan it so it will be setup in the future to go offline could work!!
@@Blockedinsight they should plan on adding it imo.. some people enjoy games offline
@@KweavSports Yeah hopefully they do way later on so the game can stay alive, I would be surprised if it had it on release because most of the game is built around that
Hey, so hows the handling in this game? is it like The Crew Motor Fest, NFS Unbound, Forza Horizon, or Assetto Corsa?
I will say (Don’t think I can say to much after the Playtest) but for now I did like it!! I think it’s a little different then being fully an “Arcade Type,” once I know its alright I will be happy to explain it more in a future video 💯💪
@@Blockedinsight hmm, you can't say much bout the game right now but you can say you do 'like it.' which of these game do you also 'like' Crew Motor Fest, NFS Unbound, Forza Horizon 5, or Assetto Corsa??? 😉*wink wink* xD
Haha just trying to respect the devs and all but for me I like Motorfest & when it comes to NFS I like Heat more than Unbound… I have videos planned for that but I can’t say anything on Forza though because I haven’t played but I would try it out in the future!! I’ve also not played Assetto yet either but have heard great things about it
@@Blockedinsight LUL, ty. :)
It's semantics, but I wish they would at least not say you're "buying " it. Be honest and call it long term rental or lease. I am not the nostalgic type of person that enjoys older games/entertainment anyway but understand how those who are feel like they have had something stolen from them
Agreed!! This is a good way to put it, they really should just do both Offline & Online but it’s probably to far into development now so online only is probably the way at least for now
❌️Always-online means I'll NEVER buy❌️
Especially after 'The Crew 1'.
@@leighdappa I can’t blame you on that, I would like to hope that any company or new game now should see how people reacted to that and make sure they don’t do the same thing
Absolute nonsense. The "anti-cheat" thing is just as much a fake excuse as everything else. If you want to cheat, you'll manage it somehow. Having your game permanently online doesn't change that. Or how come almost all online multiplayer games are full of cheaters? For me, this only has disadvantages. As already mentioned a hundred times, such games are given an expiry date right from the start and eventually become completely unplayable for everyone. Stop excusing such things.
And something else for the hundredth time. It's not about people having poor internet or no internet at all. It's simply about the preservation of games, which is not the case with always online. What's more, always online also makes you vulnerable. I have absolutely no interest in that.
All great points and I agree to be honest, people will find a way to cheat regardless!! Plus even with “Anti-Cheat” stuff they will still find a way, it is pretty frustrating that it’s known at this point that many of these have a expiration date or may face what the Crew went through…
It doesn’t bother me it has its advantages and disadvantages I cannot see it being online only after the chaos the crew caused they should be taking note of this but honestly with solar crown am not holding my breath as lost interest in the game
Understandable especially with how long this is taking but also with the release not possibly being until next year… I think the hype could die down a bit too
@@Blockedinsight don’t get me wrong I still want it but am just not paying too much attention and setting my sights low
but if it releases next year I can see it being the death of TDU as every game developers wanna avoid gta hope you enjoyed the playtest block
@@Chris2007_x Yeah I was thinking this too, GTA 6 will be a crazy release… Every game will probably be concerned haha
Do i need to pay something extra like ps plus to play this game or i only need to have an internet connection ?
I thought I saw somewhere that you did need it to play
How much are they paying for you to bend over backwards for every negative in this game's development? No, there is nothing good that comes from an always online racing game. Its not a battle royale, and its not a free to play game, this is a game that started as a single player experience and will die as a games as a service experience.
Nah I’m not being paid just looking at this from every angle, I do agree that the Negatives out weigh the positives though! Online only has problems for sure especially with what happened with The Crew 1, I do want games to great though and at least give it the benefit of the doubt!! This game will most likely not come out with offline though because it’s so far into development, if it did I’d be shocked
Sadly everything is online only nowadays when it comes to AAA games, I will be eagerly awaiting your experience when you get to play TDU. I am not sure if I will play TDU at first, I am still playing TC2, FH5 and Motorfest, Unless I win the lottery, there isnt enough time in the week to play everything, lol
Haha that is true most new games are online nowadays, I will be doing videos on it when comes out for sure!!
I am excited for it to come out but hopefully not too late in the year
Same here!! I’m also honestly hoping it even comes out this year….
Still waiting for them to patch TDU2 then 😂😂
Haha True… Oh wasn’t that basically brought back by mods or something??
@@Blockedinsight kind of, it doesn't always work smoothly ahahah
Online only is good because if you want to play with friends or randoms it should work well and not despawn you all the time 😬 I only care if if they force team play or have too many team only based objectives 😂 as long as I have solo play I don’t care if it’s online only
Those are great points!! I agree
BAD😢
I can’t argue that!!
Bad
Yeah…
The Crew 1
