  • Got to borrow a Husqvarna 562 XP to try this week, had a bit of a rough start, but managed to get it sorted. Here's a quick look and my observations about this super cool saw as a beginner and first-time user.
    My equipment:
    Helmet: Kask - Superplasma HD
    Earmuffs: 3m - Optime 101 Peltor
    Gloves: Stihl - Anti-vibration gloves
    Pants: Husqvarna
    Boots: Viking - Bushwhacker
    My saw: Stihl - MS170
    Featured saw: Husqvarna 562XP

Just bought this Husky and man it was definitely a smart buy , cuts smooth ,easy to start , easy to maintain I have 15 acres of wooded timber and am thrilled with it's performance I have Stls ,Makita, and a Husky 455 Rancher this beats them...

I have the Husqvarna 550xp mkII and love it. I have 50-100cc saws and it’s the first saw I grab regardless of what I’m going to cut. Even though husky auto tunes are heavier than the non-mtronic stihl counter parts, I find the shape and size of the saws make them feel lighter and easier to handle.
Anyway, keep the vids coming. As a father with two daughters I’m constantly trying to demystify the “blue collar arts” - all just common sense as long as you’re not afraid of a little dirt. It’s good to see you getting after it and being involved. It’s a journey to independence, well done.
    Thanks!

Sure made a world of difference when you got that chain sharp. Nice work! It’s funny, every time I watch one of your videos I get an itch to go buy a new saw. lol Thanks for sharing!

Once you cut wood and start with one saw it eventually turns into having many saws. Love being in the woods and love to cut, it's addictive.
Love watching your videos as it's show you as a beginner and your accomplishments well done.

Very nicely done video, thank you, Sarah Catherine! What I particularly like: When people stand by their mistakes - here first the use of a blunt chain. It takes a good character, compliments!
Have some forest and use the 562 XP often. Compared to a 50 cc saw like the 261 Stihl or the 550 XP, I still have an old Jonsered 2055 Turbo in use, it is of course much heavier - fueled and with a 50 bar (Tsumura Light) it weighs 8 kg. Therefore, it makes sense to quickly get used to back-friendly working techniques...
A 60 cc saw like the 562 is a very good compromise for me: for felling - I have 90% deciduous trees in my stock - it works very well up to a 60 cm guide bar, a maximum 50 cm guide bar is ideal in my opinion (with a sharp chain, of course!); if necessary, it is still powerful enough up to approx. 75 cm. On the other hand, a 60 can also be used well for delimbing.
Personally, I really like the 562 as a "workhorse" for the following reasons:
    1. it feels very good and quiet in my hand, and the vibration damping is among the best currently available.
    2. the fuel consumption is kept within limits.
    3. it can be cleaned easily and quickly.
    4. the reliability is top.
One point in comparison to the 462 Stihl you should please think about: Have you taken a look at the chain speed? The 562 XP can be operated safely with a class 1 protective equipment, the 462 is so fast (29.4 m/s!!!) that at full throttle even a class 2 does not help much... Please check e.g. th-cam.com/video/-GgWARqMBbQ/w-d-xo.html
In practice, the difference in performance between the two top saws is only noticeable with VERY thick chunks, have both tested in direct comparison. And then decided in favor of the 562.

Big saws are addictive. You're lucky you get to try out all the saws, so your purchase will be well informed. Everybody that cuts a lot should own a small saw and a big saw. How big is the question. Depending on how much you cut should guide you to your next saw. Don't worry about the weight, you'll get use to it in short time.

    • @TheRealSarahCatherine
      @TheRealSarahCatherine  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Thanks! I'm really lucky I know people willing to lend me their saws to try 🙂 I totally agree with the big saw/little saw thing, I love my little saw for limbing and clearing bushes, but the big saws make bucking so much faster and more fun!

@@TheRealSarahCatherine I used to cut a lot of wood,so obviously I needed a few saws.I have a Stihl MS171 for small trees and limbs, then if I need bigger I grab the Stihl 021,then even more will get the 028 Super, and the last "line of defense" in my "arsenal" is my Stihl MS460 ,even though I can't do much anymore,I feel I still need more saws for my "collection"? :)

If you’re having to push on a chainsaw, just to make it cut, either the chain needs sharpening and or the oiler needs to be increased. Providing the saw has an adjustable oiler.

I think everyone remembers the first time grounding out and being super mad or disappointed. In dirty wood, watch out or just expect it to have the same effect. I like running long bars so I'm not bent over with the weight of the saw on my back but I know it is not for everyone.

    • @TheRealSarahCatherine
      @TheRealSarahCatherine  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Thank you! I hesitated about keeping it in the video, but I'm glad I kept it in. Things don't go perfectly all the time, it's part of the journey 🙂 I've considered a longer bar and may go for it once I get better (faster) at sharpening 😉

@@TheRealSarahCatherine I even have an electric saw that has a 28 inch bar. There are lightweight bars as well but I don't usually use them. I can't wait to get my hands on Stihl hexa chains for faster and easier field sharpening and I wonder what they will do in a milling application. I was out talking with a climber not to long ago and we were talking about metal all the way up in the tops of trees and he was like yep it happens up there more than you think.

    lots to comment…
First, Husqvarna saws with Auto Tune have a calibration process. The way your 562 was 4 stroking hard in the cut leads me to believe this needs done.
Also, if you like a 60cc class saw, I beg you to try Echo’s 620p, my personal favorite in this class, and $200 cheaper than the 562XP.

Why would anyone offer their chainsaw to someone to try for a video with a dull chain. Not your fault you hit the ground. Whoever owns the saw is to blame, geesh...

If you can't drop start a saw in your hands it's to heavy for you an how hi she revs it everything is unsafe about this an with a sharp saw it would be way to dangerous for this person scary to watch being a tree feller for over 20 years now
