      Firstly, thank you for uploading this Cam. And yes, I got excited too when I thought it might morph with a 3 D Sound spatial ability. I'm really pleased you asked what people would like to see on the channel next because there was something I have wanted to know for a long time, but was waiting for the right time to ask.
      Let's for example say I have 100 tracks of varying sound quality from the 80's that I wish to mix and blend with some modern drums, yet every time I save the mix, the drums feel like they do not belong. My question then is how to blend them in Bitwig ( I use Ableton but the principle must be the same) so they sound good AFTER the mix is saved. (Whilst playing before exporting, they sound great)

    I just got Cube today thanks to the Black Friday sale, and I'm finding it to be extremely inspiring. I recorded a few snippets of me singing a few notes, layered them together with a couple of the stock drone samples, and managed to knock out a four minute improvisational ambient track which sounds a great deal more complex than it was to actually play. Money well spent.

    CUBE is bizarre, and an incredible plug-in. I'm using it for my lastest project and it is almost meditation like when I finally work out it's parts for my tracks. I think it's a must-have.

    • @narot23
      @narot23 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nailed it right on the head. It's meditative like, I have to be in a zone when I fire it up, but I use it and it feels like such a natural/entrancing experience creating new sounds. I'm using it in my current project and just adore it, it's one of my favorite plugin synths in my embarrassingly massive collection.

    A wonderful sonic ideas factory. The morphing concept is not new in itself but here in 3-D it reaches new levels of sound design. And it's sold at a reasonable price, much less than other similar libraries, anyway, and the starting samples are really good.

    Was one of those who actually purchased the original Prophet VS (had the rack version, which I controlled with my trusty KX88) iirc, the first patch on power-up was a v-e-r-y cool vocal preset.
    And the Prophet VS's random patch generator was simply too much fun (great to see that Lunacy Audio has included this feature)

    For the benefit of anyone reading the comments who happens to be a cheapass like me, I just wanted to say this is possible for free in VCV using the Nysthi Vector mixer! Obviously not as slick but you've got unlimited modulation options, and can mix any synth modules you want, plugins (if you have Host module), roll your own FM/AM/sync sounds etc to blend. I might nick this idea for an FX patch too.
    You're welcome!
    Also, this channel is great. 👌

    I could spend a day just watching this thing. Once again, thanks for jarring the creative juices!
    I do have a community question though. Is Vector Synthesis basically a mixer between various audio streams or is morphing more complex than that? If it’s basically a complex mixer, I’d love to see a version of Cube that allows eight audio inputs and morphs according to the same topology used in these examples. Either way; definitely buying this one!

    • @adrianhendy

      @@adrianhendy I see what you mean, but this plug-in has automated some of the complexity with its preset or randomizable 3D curves. That's really what I was trying to say; if their interface allowed us to drop instruments into those nodes it would be really awesome.

  • @TerenceKearns
    @TerenceKearns 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    it LOOKS amazing but in terms of results, it's little more than an 8 track mixer. The listener is not going to perceive complexity of those fancy orbits. I really think they should have 8-channel audio out so that it can be wired up to ambisonics mixer where the volume modulation will actually translate to 3D space - which actually has a better chance of the orbits being appreciated by the listener. It doesn't have to be either/or. Can still keep stereo functionality in it's current form.
    Anyways. Food for thought.
    Also vector synthesis is not that interesting when applied as mixing between layers. on the other hand, MORPHING between layers is another story. The new Sound Paint sampler illustrates this really well. It's not the first plugin to do it but it's the first sampler which implements it so well.

    • @VenusTheory

      Would definitely be neat to see this in multichannel output form at some point in the future. I'd imagine for game/film sound design that'd be incredibly useful!

    It's a sample player, a rompler, not a sampler.

    Thanks. And, nice review of Cube. I will be purchasing that instrument. Some of the patches you demonstrated sounded interesting and haunting.

    I tried to recreate the idea using unify by pluginguru. I used eight layers and the build in gurusampler on each layer and the also build in pump house effect to control the volume curves. Its not that intuitive as the cube, but it works and the results are comparable.

      Love to see a video or audio explanation. It sounds like it could be quite the same - Maybe SkipPy can do a video.

    You sold me. You covered everything I've been wanting to know more about. I've found myself going back to their site over the past few months. Now I know it's worth it just to get the everything bundle.

    I got the cube mini on sale and have used it in a few tracks, part of me wants the full version, but I havn't even heard all the presets or spent many hours tweaking the built in sounds, impressive little plugin for sure.

    Nicely done. I've been aware of Cube for some time; but your video is the first to really give me a sense of how I could incorporate it into my sound design.

    What's the difference between Cube and Cube Mini?

    • @lunacyaudio
      @lunacyaudio 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Gregory! Good question - CUBE Mini is the bite-sized license for the engine and includes all the basic features with a curated set of sound sources and presets. The full version of CUBE has roughly 4 times as much content with advanced features like customizable orbits, user audio imports, deep modulation, and more. Both CUBE Mini and CUBE can load expansion packs. We also have a comparison chart listed at the bottom of the CUBE page: lunacy.audio/products/cube
      Hope that helps! 😊

      By the way, you definitely sold me on it as I like tools that can create interesting textures as I like that blurred line between music and sound design =]

    Pretty damn cool coffee boy! Reminds me a little of Soundpaint with a little bit of PlayBox thrown in. Have you fiddled with either of these? I’d love to hear your opinion on Soundpaint at the very least since everyone is already talked so much about Playbox.
