श्री संत गोरुबा काका हे महाराष्ट्रातील थोर संत होते, जे १३व्या शतकात होऊन गेले. ते उस्मानाबाद जिल्ह्यातील तेर या गावातील होते. गोरुबा काका वारकरी संप्रदायातील एक महत्त्वाचे संत होते आणि ते श्री विठ्ठलावर निस्सीम प्रेम करणारे होते. त्यांचा जीवन अत्यंत साधा आणि भक्तिमय होता.
गोरुबा काका व्यवसायाने कुंभार होते, परंतु त्यांच्या हातातील मातीच्या कामासारखीच त्यांची भक्तीही मृदू आणि पवित्र होती. ते नेहमी विठ्ठलाच्या भक्तीत तल्लीन राहत. त्यांनी आपल्या प्रेमाची आणि भक्तीची अभिव्यक्ती "अभंगां"च्या रूपाने केली, जे आजही वारकरी भक्तांमध्ये अत्यंत आदराने गातले जातात.
त्यांच्या जीवनाचा मुख्य संदेश साधेपणा, समर्पण आणि समता हा होता. त्यांच्या भक्तीत आणि अध्यात्मात ते इतके मग्न होते की त्यांना ऐहिक संपत्तीची कधीच पर्वा नव्हती. एक प्रसिद्ध कथा सांगते की, जेव्हा कोणीतरी त्यांना विचारले की तुम्हाला तुमच्या उत्पन्नाची काळजी का नाही, तेव्हा त्यांनी उत्तर दिले, "माझी सर्व संपत्ती श्री विठ्ठल आहे."
गोरुबा काकांचे समाधीस्थान तेर येथे आहे, आणि ते एक तीर्थस्थान बनले आहे, जिथे वारकरी आणि भक्त वार्षिक पंढरपूर वारीत जाताना त्यांना नमन करतात. त्यांचे जीवन आणि अभंग आजही भक्तांना भक्ती, साधेपणा आणि अध्यात्माच्या मार्गावर चालण्याची प्रेरणा देतात.
Shri Sant Goroba Kaka was a revered saint and poet-saint from Maharashtra, who lived during the 13th century. Born in the village of Ter (also known as Dharashiv), in the present-day Osmanabad district, Goroba Kaka belonged to the Varkari tradition, a Bhakti movement devoted to the worship of Lord Vitthal (Vithoba), a form of Lord Krishna.
Goroba Kaka, by profession, was a humble potter, and his devotion to Lord Vitthal was unwavering. Despite his simple life, his spiritual wisdom and deep devotion earned him respect among other saints of the Bhakti movement. He often expressed his love for Lord Vitthal through devotional abhangas (spiritual poems), which are still sung and revered by devotees today.
Goroba Kaka's life is marked by humility and service. His teachings emphasized the importance of devotion, simplicity, and equality among all. A story often told about him highlights his detachment from material wealth-when asked why he didn't care for his earnings, Goroba Kaka replied that Lord Vitthal was his only wealth. His deep spiritual realization and inner peace were reflected in the way he worked diligently, yet remained focused on God.
His samadhi (final resting place) is located in Ter, and it has become a place of pilgrimage for devotees, especially during the annual "Vari" pilgrimage to Pandharpur, where people recall and honor his contributions to the Varkari tradition. Goroba Kaka's life and works continue to inspire millions, reminding them of the value of devotion, selflessness, and living a life rooted in spirituality.
