Official Trailler: • FATHER STU - Official ...
    In Memory Of
Fr. Stuart Long, age 50, of Helena
    July 26, 1963 - June 9, 2014
With his mom and dad at his side, Father Stuart Long, 50, passed away in the early morning hours of Monday, June 9, 2014, at the Big Sky Care Center where he has resided and ministered since 2010. Father Stu was born at Harbor View Medical Center in Seattle on July 26, 1963, to Bill and Kathleen (Kindrick) Long.
While he was still a toddler the family moved to Helena, his parents’ hometown. The mountains literally rose up from the backyard of the family home on South Main and Stu loved joining his older siblings and the other neighborhood kids in exploring all the trails. Stu began his elementary education at Central School in Helena and graduated from Capital High School in 1981.
Stu grew into a big young man, proud of the powerful physique he developed while wrestling and playing football for the Bruins. He moved on to Carroll College, playing Saints football for two years and developing a passion for boxing, in which he excelled. He won the 1985 Golden Gloves heavyweight title for Montana and was runner-up in 1986, the year he graduated from Carroll having earned a degree in English Literature and Writing. A planned career as a prizefighter was nipped in the bud by reconstructive jaw surgery, so at his mom’s suggestion he moved to Los Angeles intent on breaking into the movies.
Though he made some commercials and had a few bit parts, Stu eventually became disillusioned by the film industry which he later described as “seedy”. Looking beyond the comedy club and bar jobs that had paid the bills, he took a position with the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena where he rose to become manager, a position he held for seven years. Riding his motorcycle home from the museum one evening, he was struck by a car, then run over by another. This close brush with death was a turning point in Stu’s life, prompting an exploration of religious faith that ultimately lead to his baptism as a Roman Catholic so that he could marry the beautiful young lady he loved. God had other plans!
Stu felt a call to the priesthood as he was baptized, and in order to determine if it was genuine he left the museum in 1998 to teach for three years at a Catholic school in Mission Hills, California. He went on to serve with the Capuchin Friars in New York City, working in some of the city’s poorest neighborhoods. The Friars sent him to Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio to study philosophy. After earning his Masters there he was steered towards pastoral service, receiving his priestly formation for the Diocese of Helena at Mount Angel Seminary in Oregon. He was ordained a priest by Bishop Thomas on December 14, 2007 at St. Helena Cathedral, along with his good friend Father Bart Tolleson.
While a seminarian at Mount Angel, Stu underwent surgery to remove a tumor discovered on his hip, after which the strength began ebbing from his once powerful body. He was diagnosed with inclusion body myositis, an extremely rare autoimmune disease which mimics the symptoms of ALS, Lou Gehrig’s Disease, and for which there is no cure. By the time of his ordination, Father Stu was walking with the aid of crutches. His first assignment was to Little Flower Parish in Browning. After two falls, he was sent to Anaconda where his physical challenges could be better accommodated. Father Stu found his great love serving as a priest, administering the Sacraments and counseling his flock. Though only in Anaconda a short time, he left an indelible mark in the hearts of the Catholic community there.
In 2010 the Diocese brought him home to Helena where Father Stu took up a new life and ministry at Big Sky Care Center. Now using a power chair, and with the tireless assistance of his dad, Bill Long, Father Stu spread his love throughout Helena’s parishes. He celebrated Mass regularly at St. Mary’s and Big Sky Care Center, as well as travelling wherever asked to perform the duties of his calling.
Father Stu was a member of the Knights of Columbus and received much support from his Brother Knights. He loved the Cursillo movement and participated in their activities at every opportunity. He brought a servant’s heart to each and every minute of his ministry, his love increasing in power as physical strength declined. Father Stu became a beloved priest, confessor and friend to countless people. He taught by example, willingly accepting the pain and weakness each day brought; Stu said it was the best thing that ever happened to him, because it allowed him to shed the pride he had felt for most of his life. Father Stu will be missed, but his legacy of love and selflessness lives on in the hearts and minds of all he served.

The movie got me out of my depression. It gave me hope and peace. I cried so much while watching the movie. It was a huge relief just to be able to cry. I've realized that my suffering is so trivial compared to Father Stu's and yet he was at peace with God. There was no anger. Like he said, we cannot choose our suffering. We can only choose how do we respond to our suffering. If Father Stu can face suffering with peace ang grace, so can I. Thank you Father Stu.

Grateful beyond my imagination to see this masculine man grasping and praying the rosary in this movie. Thank you, Fr,. Stu, for your inspiration. Why would an all powerful God want anyone to suffer if he has the power to make no-one suffer? God is supposed to be one of love. In what love do we find a want for others to suffer needlessly. We have a free will, so does God. God has the ultimate freewill, so the question has to be asked, "why does God want anyone to suffer?". And for those who believe in GOD, no one would dare ask such a question for fear of spending eternity in hell. Why does GOD want a single living person or animal or plant to suffer, when GOD has the power to not suffer at all. Will we suffer in heaven as well? If he is an all powerful GOD then he can choose us to suffer on earth as in heaven and we have ZERO say about it as its GOD's will and GOD is always right. Can GOD lie? The answer must be YES, as he is all powerful and an all powerful GOD can do what ever he wants. It is GODs wants, not our wants that matter. Lets hope GOD wises up and lets NO ONE SUFFER EVER AGAIN!

@@michael-4k4000 Hey 🙌🏼🕊️ So you're imagining a whole different god there... Our God is the one who revealed Himself to humanity, electing His people and ultimately becoming Himself a man, Jesus Christ. God is Truth, Wisdom, Justice, Love, Mercy. We need to understand well what those attributes mean so we will know better who is God. That's what the Holy Church does, by teaching all nations the things of the Father, as fully revealed by the Incarnated Son and confirmed through the Holy Spirit 🙌🏼 You have interesting questions but you do not understand yet what is true love, Agape in greek, the Crucified 's love. Keep searching. I recommend two channels here on YT: Sensuus Fidelium and Pints with Aquinas. Both share clarifying words on modern questions and problems, based on the wisdom of the Church 🔥👏🏼🌹🙇🏽‍♀️

Mary: I had a rough life growing up, and all things that happen to me I held in side of me. People would listen to the thing I would tell them , and say you should write a book. I had the honor of going to Medjugorje. The Blessed Mother Called Me To Go There. I didn't know how I was going to pay for the trip but She Made it Happen. I purged my soul while I was their and I saw our Blessed Mother and the sun dance and blood coming out of it, and at 65 I climbed the mountain where She appeared twice in one day and the mile high mountain the next day. I was not sore and I felt like a million bucks. I cried with Jesus Christ and felt Him holding me I felt like a new child. I am a prayer worrier now and became a Oblate with the Prince Of Peace Abbey. I have something like Fr Stu and hurt all the time but I feel it's a calling and I carry my cross with a smile on my face and keep on going Thanks Be To GOD I turned 81 in June

How does everyone miss the pedophile and homosexual grooming in this movie? Being that both main actors claim to be true Catholics, I want to know how exactly those scenes got in there. Also, the comment about God being the best programmer is a reference to remote mind control. Questions, questions, questions. 🤨

@@Alwayslearnimg Oh, just the opening scene is a child dancing in underwear with Mel Gibson almost drooling. Later they show a grown man dancing half naked too. What most people don't know is that Zionists have been remotely mind control programming people to be homosexual and pedophiles. This will trigger their programming. For good Catholics this is warfare if they have been programmed and get triggered. People commit suicide over this gross programming.

Thank you so much for posting this interview. I would love to know when it was filmed! I attended Carroll during some of the years Fr. Stu was administering in Helena, and he would come say Mass when Fr. Marc was not available. I feel so humbled and honored to have known this amazing man, even if just for a couple of years, and to see his story come to the big screen. In this clip he mentioned that "barring a miracle" his life would be eventually taken by this disease. Well, Fr. The saddest look I’ve seen since when my grandfather was told he was terminal was watching the oncologist tell my father in law that it was over . He confided in my wife , that his biggest fear was suffering. He would get up in the morning and read his Bible . As the cancer progressed and he started to experience pain he refused to take anything that would stop him from reading his Bible . I would have asked for a morphine drip he wouldn’t .
Is a morphine drip which makes the patient comfortable but surly ends life a little faster wrong ?

It TRULY means put NO ONE before God the Father and calling our Priests
Father does NOT do that. We do NOT make them God or worship them. We honor their Priesthood as established in direct line from the Pope to Bishops to them, which was set up by Jesus Himself by the way. How does everyone miss the pedophile and homosexual grooming in this movie? Being that both main actors claim to be true Catholics, I want to know how exactly those scenes got in there. Also, the comment about God being the best programmer is a reference to remote mind control. Questions, questions, questions. 🤨

@@druannpellegrini5661 he speaks on terminal disease and physician assisted euthanasia and how it's repugnant of the law of God. And even uses an example about making our peace with God at the end of our days. I'm not personally experienced with ALS but there are many out there with it who are advocating for euthanasia because of the end of the disease is so suffering for those inflicted with it. They lose all abilities, even to talk and swallow. So they silently suffer because their minds and brains still function. So, I'm sure as a person facing a similar fate and being a priest, he's asked this a lot on his opinion.

    SO INTERESTING CONVERSION STORY!
    March, 2022
Thank GOD for our LADY of GUADALUPE; when I visited her Shrine in Mexico in Dec. 2012, and I was suffering at the time of "Sleep Apenea" I was healed really while still there - FRARNKLY, my first intensions were to honor her.
†Also, when I prayed few Rosaries to help me to quit smoking cigaretes on May 17, 1998, she answered my prayers immediately, though I was SUPER skeptical at that time.
†Truely, when I was inspired to recite one single Rosary in December 12, 2000, I was healed from my unbelief (Jn. 14: 1) - and I tried at the time first to pray OUR FATHER, but I couldn't remember the prayer; but GOD still saved me! Also During my first Rosary procession outdoors in May 13, 2001, I saw Queen of the Rosary walking with us for 4-5 seconds; And she had long, dark, blue dress & absolutely attractive one.
†Since my conversion, I try NOT to miss attending Masses weekly or daily etc. And I pray the Devine Mercy Chaplet at 3:00pm,
    and I NEVER missed.
†UNDOUBTLY, Reading & meditating on "Gospel of life" according to the daily readings is like my "daily bread" And I read the Bible from cover to cover 3 times since my conversion! (Is. 55: 10 -11). Also, I like to what some one says: every winter turns into spring. But "The fool says in his heart, "There is no God"(Ps.14:1)
† Unfortunately, many "Catholics don't know what they have, and Evangelicals don't know what they are missing!"
†And I used to attend few different Evangelical Churches "our brothers & sisters in Christ" for a few years searching for TRUTH while residing in Stockholm & they opened my eyes a little bid to the faith at the time.
† God is still in the miracle buisness. And thank God for the ROSARY prayer, etc🙏! †Brothers & sisters, "pray for me that I may NOT flee for fear of the wolves & [terrorstes]( Psalm 107:13 - 14)"
**"This is the day which GOD hath made a day for us to REJOICE & be GLAD"-Ps.118: 2.
†By Saba Korial, MIC, & I was born in Middle East, now Christian Catholic & Canadian. (2 Tm 2:4 & 4:7). Note that the Name of God is mentioned 3 times while praying the ROSARY as follow: first the LORD, then Jesus & GOD.

Just watched the movie and was deeply moved by it. Came here to hear the true story behind Father Stu’s life. But towards the end he speaks on the euthanasia of people. 3 weeks ago my Granny who was 104 was put on the Hospice drugs and I knew this was wrong in Gods eyes. We advocate for life in the beginning by standing against abortion, but why not at the end of life? I spoke to several Christians about what I saw, my granny wasn’t terminally I’ll, simply old and most didn’t agreed with me. What an unexpected blessing to hear what he said about making peace with God in the suffering. What was my concern about accepting Hospice-was, knowing my prayers for my unsaved family members, is don’t take them Lord until You have finished Your will in their lives. By accepting Hospice care you are taking God’s place- He is the One to say, it is finished.

Fr Brett Brannen( To Save a Thousand of Souls)
The Vocational Pre-Determination by God When I was a vocation director, I would visit the Catholic schools in my diocese to teach the children about vocations. I explained to them that before God had even created the world, he knew them and he loved them. He already knew your name, he knew every thought you would ever think, he knew how many hairs were on your head, he knew your sins, he knew your good deeds, and he even saw the moment of your death and your entrance into heaven. And God had already decided your vocation before he had even made the world! Or at least, he had already planned to which vocation you would be called. When it finally became time for you to be born, God created your soul to go inside your tiny body, and it was created specifically for that pre-determined vocation. I call this concept the vocational pre-determination by God, or vocational pre-destination. If God is calling you to marriage, then he prepared your soul and gave you the gifts of body and soul to live out the vocation of marriage. If God is calling you to priesthood, then your soul and body were made with that vocation in mind. This will be an important hint for you as you discern. Look at the gifts God has given to you and where those gifts are best used to build up the Kingdom.
