Hey Jared, what was spooking you out to your left, during the 'quiver-killer' listener question? 😆 Also, would I be right to understand that using a wax-based lube does not require stripping the factory coating first, in order to be effective?
some trickery in the spacing, not the best chainline but its not transmission so just a bit cross chained when in the 52t. Yes, running a 34SC 120mm to save some weight and get the front end and bb a touch lower
@@liamwoods5353when messing with the chain line like that, do you have issues with dropping gears while back pedaling in the lowest gear? I’m having that issue right now
I’m a guy who loves the newest gadgets but electronic shifting sucks, it might work a little better, but the reliability is terrible when compared to mechanical shifting.
@@dirtbikedude0157 one of my ridding buddies has been running axs for a year and his has broken down numerous times including once during a race. Now it’s not working at all with error codes for a firmware update and it won’t connect to an app. If it was close to the same price or way better I could see an argument but I would rather put my money in suspension or save it for the next bike and I’m a guy who rides $1100 cranks…
@@brassmnky33 I'd say that is a pretty rare case, with the 5 years it's been out for the MTB, I know of 2-3 cases like that. There is always the case/argument for mechanical shifting and how you can rig a fix on trail if need be, but I wouldn't say electronic shifting us unreliable at all.
Yeah, I’ll never go to electric shifting. I know it’s good, I’m just not into having to charge batteries or having to carry back ups for long rides. I just want to be able to grab my bike in the morning and go. Or for trips when I’m riding multiple days in a row, I want my bike to just be ready to go at all times, and axs does not provide that ability like a mechanical shifter
The cheaper stumpy will have the new S-1000 transmission. At least some of the lower trim models. There may be a bottom tier with mechanical ports though?
Great episode. Tons of information.
Enjoy Listening to your podcast. Thanks for the good Info!

Feel better Jeff
How did you fit a 38t on the ARC? I thought 34 or 36 was the max.
Are you running a 120mm fork on it?

I run Stans Schrader valves on all my bikes for the last 5 years, and I've never had a single clog.
Epic! Good to know.
