What I love the most about the Chateau Diaries, is the history that Stefanie shares, I have learned more about France than I ever knew before, thank you Stephanie

I can see LaLande being a B&B & musium for France forever & centuries of those like you telling its story with you being such a part of its History-Story. Bravo, Stephanie.*** Such amazing tid-bits of history you hold & share with us all like gold.***

Yes your detail to History sets you apart from other Chateau programs! They mostly cover renovation, but oh the History you take time to tell makes this more than a renovation video! You take away the intrigue of the renovation, but you take away more , History! Not only if your chateau, but of even the Holidays you take! It’s also a travel destination video and lesson in History of those Holidays! Bravo!

I agree. My favorite Chateau Diaries videos are the ones where she tells us of the history of (fill in the blank) subject/items. No one else does that. I know she has music work shops but I happen to believe history work shops would be a big smash.

I would love to be able to buy a set of cards with your father’s art on them. Especially the incredibly detailed early ones. I have no more room in my home for art, as I am a 4th generation artist myself, but I love getting cards or postcards of art that inspires me. Then you would have them to sell to tourists and people who stay at your chateau. Thank you for sharing your home with us and your passion.

Would you be able to offer a one time donation option? That way many of us can help as often as we can without making a monthly commitment. It would also be nice to contribute to specific things. A chapel donation page or a lake donation page. Some of your patrons are elderly and might want to leave the chateau a bequest. Also, do you have a FedEx address/account so that patrons can send you and the chateau gifts? You are such a lovely person and have brought so many joy with your vlogs. I love "living" with you and your friends and can't wait for each new video. You and your mother have such big hearts and a wonderful zest for life. Your style and taste is excellent. I read all of the comments and you have been offered so many good suggestions. I'm thrilled with this new endeavor and send you love and best wishes. Hugs and love from Tennessee.

Barbara Crane, I thought the same regarding donations. I committed to only 10$ per month, but I would love to gift more when I have it, without a monthly commitment. For instance, each year I donate a portion of our tax returns to different organizations. There are other months of the year that we see a little extra at the end of the month i.e. once the furnace is no longer running 24 hours a day to keep our house warm in the winter. Our budget can include a little extra for the Chateau during the warmer months. There are many times during the year that I can afford to gift more. I hope Stephanie sees your suggestions, because I want to see all of her and her mother’s dreams come true regarding this huge labor of love.

    • @barbaracrane470
      @barbaracrane470 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

@@cynthialawlor2420 Yes, Cynthia, exactly. I think there are many of us who would like to donate when we have more to set aside. I love Chateau de LaLande and the "family". I look forward to every vlog, but I cannot commit to every month. I hope Stephanie can come up with a solution for her other fans.

My dearest Stephanie: I saw the cushion with the initial M for Marie Antoinette and I thought you really should make yourself one for one of your rooms with your initial on it. I think that would be a lovely, fairly quick and inexpensive project you could do and it would be great fun. I wish I could become a donor on your Patreon page but I live a very poor life as I am physically disabled and have been for years. I greatly enjoy all of your videos and you make my life brighter for the time that I watch you and your family bring the chateau to life again. If I ever win the lottery I would love to make a huge donation to you and to come and stay and be able to see the chateau in person and to meet all of you. Thank you for being the wonderful and vivacious woman you are. Sincerely, Carole H.

I love the historical background you give to the built heritage Stephanie. You showcase Lalande and all of these very special spaces and in doing so revive the 'genius loci' - so often overlooked in this digital age. In the modern world we easily forget that all of these rooms have contained the thoughts hopes, joys, sadnesses, ideas, and celebrations of many individuals, and generations...for centuries.

Such an interesting vlog Stephanie and would so love to visit the Met in NY. I was interested also in that magnificent book you showed at the end with all the period rooms at the museum. When you have a minute see if the Croome Court tapestry room is there. It should be as it was bought and installed there in the 1940s ,I believe. My daughter and husband run the property in Worcestershire for The National Trust and i volunteer there too. The Tapestry Room was dismantled lock stock and barrel , ceiling, floor etc as well as the very beautiful tapestries. All we have at the court now as far as that room is concerned are photos and a Robert Adam designed jug and ewer set with stand that was made for the room in the 18th C. I love your Chateau and your vlogs and will certainly contribute via patreon. 💚💚

Stephanie, I understand better your excitement in purchasing the panels from the hotel shown in a recent vlog ( that is one year after this was made). I love the Met Museum in New York. It was required visit for my undergraduate degree. I am afraid most interest was in the Egyptian rooms. With your enthusiasm, I will pay more attention to these French rooms, which elevate the decorative arts, on my next visit to the Met. Stephanie, you are a born teacher!!

Your dress looks lovely on you ..love your chateau.
It’s interesting how you spoke about woman staying with rich men even if perhaps unhappy;but if they left they’d be penniless.
I wonder how many women through the ages were stuck in this kind rut.

I am SO glad to see how successful your patronage program has been!
Do you have any idea what the paneling lost looked like?
We are truly blessed in the US to have such an extraordinary museum with The Met. Would you believe I've lived in NYS my entire life without ever stepping foot in NYC?

Please design a transferware plate with the chateau as the center, surrounded by what you love best. I would buy it!

Fascinating tour/history. Excellent. Your knowledge and enthusiasm are a great combination. (Thank you for introducing us to Jayne Wrightsman.) I think you should present seminars.

Hello Stephanie :) I found your channel by some coencidence, I loved your story about you getting your chateau, I'm not particularly into chateaus but it so interesting and I find it relaxing listening to your voice :) I'd love to support you a little in your big project! Good luck and can't wait to follow you on the way to restoring the place ;)

Great video as always. Just one small correction if I may: Louise-Elisabeth de France was not the only daughter of Louis XV, in fact he had 8 daughters (only counting the legitimate ones, the list grows much longer if you include the illegitimate children). She was however the eldest daughter and the only one who married.

I think your patronage idea is a sound one. I rehabbed a 100 yr old 3.5 story home and it was a constant money pit but I loved it for 30 Years. It was my ever evolving art form. I still miss it but love being in the city with my daughter and 1 and 2 yo granddaughters. Next time you are in NYC you might enjoy The Shady Ladies or Dressed to Kill tours at the MET. They tell you the back stories going on in the artwork since many weren’t just paid models but real people with agendas. I think they also do a tour or tours in Paris. I could see you doing something similar in parts of France or in seminars on your property. You might also take a few days and head to Newport,RI to see Marble House, which was Alva Vanderbilt’s homage to the Petit Trianon, especially but also the other NYC summer cottages from the late 19th c. Newport is a gem. Depending on the day and time you are able to escape NYC, It’s an easy 3 to 4 hr drive from the city.

I never thought of that but you're ablsolutely right. I have been to Versailles and toured the Petit Trianon. Now that I think of it, the comparisons are exacting. Thanks for
sharing that. One day I hope to get to Rhode Island. So many beautiful stately homes there.
