I don't know why, but the beats in this song make me think of something flickering in malfunction, trying to absorb any vital energy in order to stay alive, trying to stand up but not being able to and crumbling down, then gradually dwindling out of weakness until it's completely dematerialized and non-existent.
i can pretty much calculate how the instrumental was made. its just a slowed down sample (or synth) with a really low transient envelope, this is just how ableton processes the speed. it can come up with some really cool sound if you play with it for a while.
“This is our last time together.” Even though I’ve heard this song many times that line for some reason always makes me feel such deep sadness in my chest.
I wake you up In the middle of the night To express my love for you Stroke your skin and feel you Naked I can feel all of you At the same moment I wake you up In the night feeling This is our last time together Therefore sensing all the moments We’ve been together Being here at the same time Every single touch We ever touch each other Every single fuck We had together Is in a wondrous time lapse With us here at this moment The history of touches Every single archive Compressed into a second All with us here as I wake you up
arca's contribution to this album really stands out in some of these tracks, absolutely sublime, i really hope they do more work together in the future
All through this record you can feel her sorrow... and then realize how much her husband hurt her... I really hope that Vulnicura has helped her to heal her wound. A love that ends can be excruciating.
@@Depplova81 I am in good health, and in good, loving company thankfully. That breakup was an arduous transition in my life, but a necessary one, and I am back on my feet again. I have good hopes for life now, thanks to my loved ones. I hope this update finds you in good health and gives you hope as well.
There's something very profound about the use of stitches and colour... the embroidery stitches in the art work for this... it's as if the spring like colours reflect a new awakening from what has died before...when I think about the ancient way of producing purple involved the death of thousands of mollusks, I can relate that to Björk's feelings about the death of her marriage... extremely painful and protracted...
I can’t read notes but I think Björk’s use of melody and notes is one of the most unique ever, is this even sung in a key or is she just hopping back and forth in different ones? Also in “The Gate”, it just sounds like nothing else ever made.
I don't know why exactly I have to come here listen this song when I need to cry. I don't have yet any experiences like this, like the dying love and its compression in one second in a bed, a sacred and self-explained place of love, but somehow, this music interpretates me, my pain, something that I don't know how to understand but I feel. Maybe I'm identifying with the dying of a construction planned and espontaneous, maybe its melancholy brings me here. It's completely strange to me, but I feel this song describe me, better, alegorize my life, my whole life.
I listened to "Lionsong" and liked it, but just heard this track after it now that I just got the full album. It was such a trippy experience to hear for the first time. The music is so intense and deep.
i think the producer assisting her on this album was a young guy, i heard influences from the Rez soundtrack on Quicksand for instance (final boss sequence)
there's almost no emotion in her voice in this song, lyrics are quite simple and touching but her tone is quite dull, as if she is trying to distance herself from it all

Really.... She said FUCK in her song... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Amazing!!! I was listening.... And then... "EVERY FUCK TOGETHER" Hhahahahahahahahhhahaha Jesus I'M LAUGHING ULTIL MY LAST PARENTS DIE!!! Hahahahahahahahahah
I might be the only person that thinks this is her worse song. I feel like the melody could have been written by a three year old. Stone milker is heart wrenching and then there's this.
Lachlan Jesser björk is about emotional honesty and the starkness and blandness of a lot of very vocal delivery in this track is what makes it disturbing. it highlights the bleakness of the soundscape that accompanies her. she’s definitely being intentional with her output choices.
You have to go through something like this to understand. Every sound relates to the experience. I went through this, and everytime I hear the song I feel like she understood perfectly everything I felt. Like you're witnessing the dead of love as you slide inside someone. You cry, you cum... It's disruptive.
this is one of her best works in my opinion i can imagine her on bed with her ex lover in the middle of the night trying to revive their love and then accepting its already dead so their last intercourse in like a ritual for all the years and moments together
Meh...this is one of the few Bjork tracks where her lyrics come across as lame and forced, and her vocals could use some reverb or something... Dig that glitchy arpy backing track though.
I disagree, it feels like that clarity you get when you know it’s over but your emotions don’t want to let go/ they are in erratic arrays of sorrow, I love this song so much, it reminds me of every time I could pin point the exact moment a lover would end.
Bjork has done nothing interesting or worth listening since Vespertine; some songs from her later albums are ok but for me the later albums are absolutely boring, no melodies, no concrete rhythms or beats, I was a huge fan up to Vespertine, not anymore.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and you not wanting to listen to her is fine ...but saying that she hasn't done anything interesting or worth listening to since vespertine is insane...
You must be young or a boring boomer, I used to skip vulnicura when I was younger but now it’s one of my fave albums, these albums were very intentional and beautiful to me, I understand the emotions

i feel like it's somehow a synth made of disorted choirs from vespertine and combined with your view, whole concept is incredibly saddening.
...related to Bjork's personal life, the track is all about disintegration of what went before...
i can pretty much calculate how the instrumental was made. its just a slowed down sample (or synth) with a really low transient envelope, this is just how ableton processes the speed. it can come up with some really cool sound if you play with it for a while.
What do you mean "I don't know why"? The music is exactly as you describe it. It's the glitches of the music that conjure this image.
Me after an orgasm:
The duration of this MASTERPIECE is a great example of “quality over quantity”

I'm glad you put these here so I could make sure i heard the lyric right. Damn Björk, holding nothing back I see.
👍
The lyrics are just nuts and bolts.
Yep you heard me right.
Just nuts and bolts.
Maaan Bjork was ahead of her time in the 90's and she is still ahead of our time now, this just sounds like music from the future to me

bjork made me feel like my man left me
This song is so simple but it’s so profound. It’s truly the only thing you can feel at a moment like this. It’s heartbreaking
this one of the best she's ever written, how does she keep going like this?
Right. Great artist, for me, always tend to dwindle. Bjork keeps being super-creative.
Pain is a bottomless well few dare to plunge.
@inkajoo this song doesn't even sound like it's painful. You are just saying pseudo intellectual shit that sounds deep
Btw. In my opinion, it's one of the best lyrics written by her. It always moves me so much
It's incredible how her voice has not changed at all in 20 years
She's lost a tiny bit of her upper register, but yeah mostly the same. Crazy.
+Tasha Cook but she gained beautiful dark tones, I wish we could hear more of those
The little she's lost in register she's won in vocal control
Well... I feel the change in her voice... But yeah, still amazing and beautiful 💜
@@yolas1299 Indeed, she now expresses way more complex emotions beautifully

Yes. (No)
I literally ascend to this song
Absolutely gorgeous song. I listened to this right before passing out on a plane, it was perfect.
This track brings me straight back to homogenic. Reminds me of all neon like
I found something "Hyperballad" there, perhaps because of the opening notes.
Same @ Homogenic, but like... I see more of Unravel/Cocoon here. The intro to Family, though, feels hella All Neon Like 💛
Absolute masterpiece!

you know, when jork talks about sex, she often talks about it an a very poetic way which I completely admire about her.
