    I've never made my own BBQ sauce before, but this looks like a great recipe to try! Thanks for sharing the recipe, Great Lakes, and the thorough instruction, as well.

    Had made some ketchup out of the garden but wasn't great, so just repurposed it into apricot bbq sauce this afternoon. Turned out really good! ✌️

    I have a family favorite bbq sauce recipe I’ve been making for years. Never had a reason to can it as it is quite simple to make. Now that my 5 sons have all started their own families my husband and I can’t go through a batch quick enough. So I wanted to look up how to can it. Thanks for sharing…trying to prep for a family reunion camping trip out of state.

      You've come to the right place! I have a few BBQ sauce recipes that don't use the Devil's Nectar as an ingredient.

    You may want to look into those brown sugar thingies that are made of terra cotta. You're meant to soak them every so often and place them dried off into the brown sugar. Viola! No more hardened brown sugar.
    Ours look like teddy bears but there's a large selection of shapes.

      Thanks! Pressure canning seemed pretty daunting at first. But doing it a few times, it's practically as easy as hot water bath. I have several videos on this channel showing the ins and outs of how to pressure can a bunch of different things.

    Hi! Looks delicious!! May I ask please where you found this recipe? If you made it up yourself can I ask you please why your not pressure canning this sauce?

      Hello, thank you. Because this is a tomato-based sauce plus vinegar, it is acidic enough to hot water bath can.

    Do I really need the mosquito liquid smoke? Is there a substitute?

    • @GreatLakesPrepping
      @GreatLakesPrepping  หลายเดือนก่อน

      You could use regular liquid smoke. It's just for flavoring. Most BBQ sauce has a light smokey element to it. You can omit that ingredient if you prefer.

    How long does this last in the fridge after opening?

    • @GreatLakesPrepping
      @GreatLakesPrepping  10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      A couple weeks or more. About as long as an opened jar of pasta sauce from the store would last in the fridge. It doesn't contain quite the same preservatives and things as store-bought BBQ sauce, so not quite as long as store-bought sauce lasts in the fridge.

    Any idea about a keto-type of sauce? I'm trying to move more that way. Thanks for another great video and I'll bet that sauce is delicious!

    • @GreatLakesPrepping
      @GreatLakesPrepping  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks James. I'm not really sure about a keto version of BBQ sauce, since sugar is pretty much out of the question. You could surely make a nice hot sauce, or some other type of marinade or sauce that works well on BBQ'd meat, but I'm not sure I could call it BBQ sauce.
      A quick search tells me that there are "keto" BBQ sauces that have no sugar added. No idea how they taste though, since all BBQ sauce I've ever encountered has a sweet element to it.
