Your vocal analyses are always top-notch! I love how detailed and insightful your breakdowns are. You really highlight the unique qualities of each artist’s voice. Can’t wait for more reactions about Faouzia from you-keep up the amazing work!

I prefer stripped versions too!!! Johan, I highly recommend her cover of "love on the brain" on the singing competition (in China) she performed on recently. It's incredible in my opinion. I love your reaction videos!

I agree a lot with you about how she write her lyrics, so clever. It reminded me of her song Elon, you should check it out!! Great analysis as always

I am also impressed by your ability to sing her phrases! Then I watched your video! I am always impressed by vocal "gymnastics", as long as it falls short of just showing off! When it did, she pulled back just enough, most times, to let me hear the song, and not just the "tricks"! A good song, in my estimation, is one that makes you feel the emotion, as well as marvel at the execution! This is probably my first listen to Faouzia, but at this time, I think I am in the "marvel" stage.

With tricks the rule of thumb is this. Don't sing what you don't feel and don't say the words you don't mean. Pretty much Miles Davis said that although he is an instrumentalist not a singer. He said without the feeling the tricks are empty and that's the last thing you want in a song. The old adage "fake it till you make it" doesn't really gel with that philosophy because it ruins artsitic integrity though it could work with some people as there is always an exception to the general rule but the best of the best in the biz shy away from emptiness in their art.

There's a live Stripped version of this song in an empty theatre during the pandemic. She sang 7 songs in that video. The youtube video is called Stripped live in concert from the theatre.

Great reaction! The best stripped version is Tears of Gold, the range is incredible. Would also suggest reaction to her lives performances on The Singer 2024, my favourites include: Desert Rose, R.I.P Love, The Devil from Heaven and Cry me a River. Enjoy!
