Let me educate some of ya'll in the comments. P.S/ I am a singer. If anyone co-writes, produces your beat, or arranges the melody for your song, etc, YES! They are entitled to a share of the publishing rights. Unless you buy the beat under exclusive rights, the producer normally splits between 20-50% of the publishing rights. I am sure this person tried to resolve this in other ways and was probably ignored and was left with no option but to sue; because why would he come out now. He could also be taking advantage of the song's success (but I doubt it, especially if he’s known). I know it's for the kingdom, but work is work. This is how people earn their living.
