    Hi, a great video with very detailed descriptions - many thanks! Followed your instructions and had the Schnorkel installed in 7 hours. - Four words of advice to the next Schnorkelist: one, don't, I repeat, absolutely DON'T trust the template that comes with the kit! It even says on the template itself that you should first re-align the drill marks with the actual bolts on the piece. Well, I did that only half-heartedly, and the result was that the holes for the bolts at the far end of the snorkel were then a good 2 cm (!) out. So I had to drill them again. Two, I'd advise you to comfortably oversize the bolt holes; a 10mm drill bit will be just fine and give you some play. Three, make sure the metal plate that holds your snorkel's upper part against the window/door frame is placed close enough to the window, otherwise the nuts at the bottom might jam against your door when opening it. And finally, I really struggled to cut through my fender with a hole saw (I had to borrow one; maybe the thing was blunt or too rough?) In the end I used my jig saw with a very fine blade, protected the metal around the cut mark with a thick layer of cardboard and got a perfect cut. - Once again, many thanks for the video!

      Jan, thank you so much for taking the time to comment and giving some great tips. You are absolutely right. My holes worked out perfectly for some reason. Not sure if the fact that it is a bakkie schnorkel and not a fortuner one. But if you encountered that issue then it is excellent advice. Id say you need to be skilled at problemsolving to install a schnorkel. Like you said, dont trust the template. Perhaps i did under emphasize that a bit. But i am so glad i was able to help you install the thing. Many happy kilometers. Keep safe.

      @@4x4ViewFinder what air filter are you going to use?

    • @4x4ViewFinder
      @4x4ViewFinder  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Im going for the standard toyota one. I thought about K&N but the jury is still out on weather its good or bad for your engine. Sticking to the tried and tested.

    Shot for the video man, great detail! Just a question, I have got the same snorkel, if I measure the outside diameter of the pipe section that goes through the large hole that gets cut, I get 98mm. I see you are using a 108mm hole saw though. Bought from the same supplier so am I missing something stupid here.

    • @4x4ViewFinder
      @4x4ViewFinder  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Quinton. I think it could be that my snorkel was actually for a Hilux. I got some extra fittings that i didnt end up using witht the kit. So you may have the exact right kit. If your template says to use a 98mm then go for it.

    what was that red paste you placed around the tube on the airbox?

    • @4x4ViewFinder
      @4x4ViewFinder  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That paste was the Wynn's red gasket maker. Its a type of heat resistant sylicon that i use if i want a permanent seal on any two joining surfaces. It works like magic. Hahha

    hello, do you encounter a problem such as wetting the air filter, does water go to the air box in heavy rain?

    • @4x4ViewFinder
      @4x4ViewFinder  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there, no water does not enter the air box, if it does it drains out the bottom of the air box. There is provision made for water entering the air box by Toyota. I flip my snorkle head around so it does not scoop so much water, not that i need to but you and I are probably the same, we like to be extra carefull.

    Where does the silicon hose fit up to?

    • @4x4ViewFinder
      @4x4ViewFinder  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question, wish i could tell you. I was racking my brain and going through any possibility of its use and i could not find a single spot where it fits or could be of use. Seriously, i tried everything. It does not fit anything. If you find out one day. Pleaaaaaaaase tell me. I still have sleeples nights about it.

      @@4x4ViewFinder yeah mate I had no use for it either manage to get my snorkel to fit with a few changes to the template as some holes don’t line up other than that looks good

    • @4x4ViewFinder

      Awesome bru. Glad you got sorted. I also had plenty oakes tell me the template has some issues. Resizing the wholes was the only way to win with this piece of kit. But it works a charm, i only replace my air filter every second service.
