1. Managing the Egos/Personalities of the top 6 players on the team who are all top 100 players 2. Formulating a style of play (Mazulla Ball) which is good enough to win a championship and winning the chip. 3. Navigating himself and the team through one of the toughest local state media and fan base in the NBA 6. Best or one of the best record/accomplishment through 2 seasons of any coach all time. They already got Brown super motivated, then they did the same to Tatum. Now Joe too. They literally firing up the team for Banner 19. ☘️💪🏆
In games where he or the other team is possibly eliminated Zull is 9-2 with his team eliminated only once. That's something I've been impressed with from him. I like him. I didn't at first, but he's grown on me especially after having a full summer instead of just playing it safe as interim head coach brought up 5 minutes before the season started.
Thank you for answering my question about the impending sale of the Celtics. Your explanation made sense and I was able to "wrap my head around" how the team moves forward. I'm not looking forward to breaking up this group but I do understand that it's the price of doing business in the NBA.
And then Ime over Joe is blasphemy and laughable. Ime was not perfect, and when we got to the finals two years ago, I just knew we would not beat the Golden State Warriors. Do you think he had his struggles? Because he was a defense coach. And less offense.
It's o.k. to put Joe in the middle of the pack (for now) because he has had a short coaching career. Popovich, Spoelstra, Budenholzer, Carlisle, Kerr, Malone, Nurse, and Lue each have rings, and while Doc Rivers hasn't been great he has put in his hours. Thibodeau and Donovan are lifers. Give him his first five years and he'll be properly rated by then as a top five coach.
Nah u can’t hve a coach who didn’t win a chip ahead of a coach who just won one. It’s all subjective however in a (wut hve u dne for me lately) society Joe is top dawg right now as he shud be imo.
I’m not doing the ranking so it’s not my problem. All I’m saying is that as a fan it’s totally fine right now for Joe to be underrated. He’ll get his due eventually, as long as in our house he’s the top.
Definitely brought to mind Jackson. Btw these recommends of his are Stellar: Autobiography of a Yogi Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance ******* Siddhartha
I feel like Brad doesn’t get enough credit for wut he did with his squads he did the whole same as spo only difference is spo had James’s, nurse won one with the Klaw who also locked James’s up as a young bull (with the spurs) Ime went to the big dance his 1st go round but didn’t win it. Joe did it his 1st(full) go rd as coach. Can’t go wrong with either.
I think he’ll have at least 2 thousand more points over the next seven than he did the first seven. He won’t have another year only scoring 13 a game or whatever it was his rookie year plus his second year was Subpar to anything he will produce over the next 7. He will definitely be Boston’s all time leading scorer and should get into top ten all time in the league. Like you said he’ll be expected to carry more weight scoring wise in 2 or 3 years too. More importantly though I think is the playoff scoring all time point list that he has a chance to be top 3 or so if not number one all time if stays on his current pace.
Well he's averaged around 2000 points the last 3 seasons. If he can stay healthy and average that the next 7 seasons he would be sitting on the current list at 24th between Vince Carter and James harden after just turning 33 and would just need another 3,100 to reach KD at 10th which would only require him to equal his rookie season numbers for 3 more seasons to achieve. Now this obviously requires him to be healthy the whole time and no sudden drop off in skill for those 7 years but it's certainly possible he ends up top 10 in regular season points. Playoffs I think he's going to easily get there he needs 1,746 to equal Jerry west at 10th which is basically the amount of points he's scored the last 4 seasons. If Tatum and Brown continue to prove they can make atleast the conference finals and Tatum puts up similar number to the last 3 years he could be top 10 in playoff points by the time he is 30. Obviously all of this requires health and similar success to the last several seasons but it doesn't require him doing anything crazy to get top 10 in both and if he ends up somebody that plays forever it becomes easier and easier to do so. I think he for sure gets there for playoff points as the Celtics are in a position to have several more deep playoff runs to allow him to get the majority of the needed points. The regular season it's just harder to say for sure just because it requires a much longer period of high production and health.
John they're not actually selling the whole team they're only selling 23%. Which means you only need to find someone that has around a billion and a half.
Erik Spoelstra gets number 1 but never has been one coach of the year. The Heat rely heavily on Jimmy Butler so that they can stay relevant. Also, Gregg Popovich getting disrespected. 🤬
Joe won't get the national respect until he either puts forward a contender with lesser talent or he wins like 3 or 4 rings in the next 4 or 5 years. The talent is too much in Boston to be sure if he's guiding the boat or just along for the ride. I think he's a good coach and that is why the Celtics weren't just good but they were all time statistically great last season. I think he falls into that 8-15 range. There are at least 3 or 4 obvious options above him, and then like 3 or 4 more that have a much larger body of work, and then it's him falling in just after them 8-15 so I'm cool with 11.

Oooo yay! Back to daily pods!. Was watching Celtics
highlights today on youtube because i'm having withdrawals!
putting Gregg Popovich at number 14 is definitely a low blow

Joe is top 5!!!!!
Joe ranks right just behind Phil Jackson.

Joe will be the first to tell that he doesn’t care about this BS.

Exactly and it’s only Celtic fans acknowledging any of this. You’d think he had a disappointing career if listened to only the general media

Tatum is a lock for 30 barring a career ending injury 35k isn’t unreasonable
So the real burning question: When's the new intro gonna drop?!
Boom. Simpsons reference. Hahah
Erik Spo is ranked #1 but he hasn’t won anything since Lebron left town….
Erik Spoelstra gets number 1 but never has been one coach of the year. The Heat rely heavily on Jimmy Butler so that they can stay relevant. Also, Gregg Popovich getting disrespected. 🤬
Zero point zero zero percent chance i would trade our coach for any other coach.

Agreed. Joe inherited a helluva talented roster thanks to Brad Stevens (and Danny Ainge). I can totally see why Brad got executive of the year

Only spo,pop,Malone, Joe, tibbs
Thibs runs his poor guys into the ground.

Thibbs hasn’t won a ring as a HC
thats like saying phil jackson wasnt good he had wicked rosters 2 9even though i think kerr sux as a coach)
these C's can't maintain their focus and lose their attention within the span of one quarter. LOL
Top 5 and it's not 5, 4, 3 or 2
Joe probably shud be #1 he just won a chip🤷♀️
But that would be recency bias. Pop, Kerr and Spo for example have won more.
