I love these pelvic floor exercises with Michelle.......when my doctor told me my bladder issues were due to a weak pelvic I didn't think I was ever going to get relief from my symptoms........the discomfort made it impossible to live a normal life........I wouldn't go any where in fear of having to use a washroom before I got to where I was going.......my doctor told me about kegel exercises which led me the Michelle channel......it changed my life......I am actually enjoying it again.......thank you so much Michelle for what you do and all your hard work in getting these videos to us.
The medication I'm on is called Quetiapine which causes weight gain, not happy :-/ over 4 years blew up fro size 8 to a 24 and developed this condition, it was when I couldn't even walk I started these exercises and they are really making a difference!!!Great big THANKYOU :-)
Hi Shourba bending forwards and lifting weights from ground level will be likely to increase pressure on the pelvic floor. This type of exercise could potentially worsen bowel incontinence problems and are better be modified in favour of pelvic floor safe back strength exercises such as Superman
Hi Venkatesh this is a difficult condition - are you able to access treatment from a physio who can assess and prescribe you exercises accordingly? I think this is the best management for your condition to avoid aggravating it with inappropriate exercises and best address your needs. Kindest regards Michelle
Hi thank you for your question, when you are bleeding during pregnancy it's very important to cease all exercise until you are given the ok to recommence exercises by your specialist. Best wishes Michelle
Hi Thanks for your question, no these exercises aren't the ones we prescribe for prolapse. These pelvic exercises are for women who have unstable pelvis - often after childbirth but not always. The exercises for prolapse are pelvic floor muscle exercises that increase the strength and support of the pelvic floor. These can help to alleviate prolapse symptoms and actually raise the pelvic floor (and prolapse) to sit higher within the pelvis. Hope this helps Michelle
@angelsever Hi, yes if you raise the top leg too high if you have dysfunction in your uppermost SIJ it can cause symptoms-best to keep the exercise within pain free limits always Michelle
Hi Michell, I have been doing these great exercises...can you recommend a safe stretch for your hip adductors if you have pubic symphysis disfunction.... thanks so much!
Hi Michelle , are side lying hip abductions safe if you have pubic symphysis disfunction ? Also can you recommend a safe stretch for your hip adductors that is safe for pubis symphysis disfunction.... thanks so much!
Hi Michelle , are hip abductions on the floor safe if you have pubic symphysis disfunction ? can you recommend a safe stretch for your hip adductors that is safe for pubis symphysis disfunction.... thanks so much!
I'm still recovering from a fractured pelvic injury that occurred from a fall nearly a year ago. Are these exercises appropriate for me? I'm mostly recovered but still struggling with getting my gait back to normal. Thank you!
Thank you for the video. I am 33 and fell on stairs in 2003 ( 19). My pelvis is still extremely unstable, even PT and pelvis therapy cannot fully help stabilize. My right illium goes into anterior rotation and the left goes back when I lift legs ( as observed by therapist). I just feel crooked and cant stand or sit still for too long, have a dent in my right leg, and severe groin pain if i dont adjust. DO u feel rialto or some type of surgical fusion is a good idea at this point?
WoW Wish would have started these when you actually posted videos 2010! Great to find now however..... Younger Ladies ~ Be sure to do all her playlists .....You’ll be Happy ya did by Post Menopause most definitely

Hi Jazz - thanks for your question, no these exercises are not for bladder problems. The correct exercises to do for most bladder control problems are Kegel or pelvic floor exercises, you can see these exercises here Kegel Exercises Beginners Workout For Women hope this helps you out!
Hi Faith the sidelying clam exercise lifting the top leg away from the lower leg is usually appropriate during pregnancy. The last exercise known as bridging can be performed upmtom16 weeks however after 16 weeks exercises lying on the back are not appropriate during pregnancy. Hope this helps
+irish66 not necessarily, it really depends on what the actual problem is. These exercises are general stabilising exercises that are designed to help with pelvic instability. Having said that we know that appropriate exercise and movement is generally a good thing for arthritis
is this good for postpartum SPD? Experiencing popping when I walk and when i shift my legs. and a little discomfort in the front of my pelvis when i push something with my legs. thanks.
Hi Layia these are the types of exercises that are often prescribed when the pubic symphysis is moving more than it should postpartum. They should never feel painful during or after exercise.
hi michelle please help me. i had a slight cervical prolapse while breastfeeding for the first year after i had my 4th child and i fell pregnant with my 5th causing my cervix to drop to almost 1 inch from the opening. at 15 weeks it whent back up. im now 26 weeks and its just over a whole finger up. i have alot of cervical twitching its soft not dialted but i feel like its slightly lower at the end of the day. i had spd in 3 pregnancies and in this one also. its worse when i stand from sitting for long times or when i get up from bed at night for the toilet. i do kegals but they have become difficult due to the weight of my pregnancy i pressume and cause braxton hicks. as i mentioned im australian but doing charity work in africa and have no trusted specialist to check me or who has monitored me from before pregnancy. what can i do to safely strengthen my pelvic floor. i want natural labour so im slightly worried to damage things more. please help me i trust you know what your talking about. thanks :)
Zara Mckourt Hi Zara Kegals (pelvic floor exercises) are really the key to maintaining pelvic floor and prolapse support during pregnancy. Some ladies find that doing them early in the day can help of after resting, doing them lying down or on all fours can help to eliminate the downward pressure of the baby and allow Kegal exercises. Its also important to rest at intervals throughout the day preferable lying down as the pelvic floor fatigues with prolonged standing. To safely strengthen the pelvic floor continue pelvic floor exercises 3 times daily every day especially when your body feels rested, not after prolonged standing or lifting activity which needs to be minimized. All the best for your pregnancy Zara I hope this gives you some ideas for self management Michelle
Hi Karens Kitchen are you trying to do strengthening for your pelvis? What position can you rest comfortably in Karen? This will give me a better idea of getting the right information to you
I dont have to necessarily need to tighten the muscles but am have bladder issues and in particular overactive bladder and sensitive to touch at the beginning of cervix I cant sit well nor can I lie with any ease
I am in pain in general pain from fibro pain, sciatic, disc bulging and bladder issues, I have been told I need to these exercises yet sitting standing and walking and lying down all include pain
Hi Karen I would love to help but with these limitations you need a health professional to assess, prescribe and monitor how you cope. I wish you all the best Karen
Hi when I seat I CAN FEEL the joint of the upper leg moves right where it connect to the pelvic what problem might I have? Also when I sit my sitting bones feel not stable I suffer a lot from this

Hi Michelle , are side lying hip abductions safe if you have pubic symphysis disfunction ? Also can you recommend a safe stretch for your hip adductors that is safe for pubis symphysis disfunction.... thanks so much!
Good questions Sabrina - I would recommend starting lying hip abductions using the clam technique with the feet together throughout the exercise and raising the top knee just off the lower knee. I would start with massage of the groin muscles/thigh adductors with the thighs supported by pillows rather than actively stretching tight adductors at the outset. Progress really needs to be guided by your Physio, hope this helps
