One oversight is the fact that many of the Scot’s Irish that settled in the region were recent descendants of Scottish Border Reavers, who have been described as light cavalry and had generations of experience in Scottish border wars. This also partially explains why they didn’t have great loyalty to the English Crown. My ancestors, the McCollochs, in the Wheeling area were noted horsemen. John established McColloch’s Traders Trail and was a trader, who supplied Bouquet’s forces, particularly livestock feed from the South Branch Valley.
The British had originally limited the Colonies to the land areas east of the Appalachian Mountains, and reserved much Land for the Native Nations... The Colonists wanted ALL the Land to the Mississippi River, and eventually more and more... The French wanted furs, and traded honestly with the locals, without colonizing. It was easy to see why the 'Indians' sided with the English & French.... The Americans consistently broke their Treaties, Waged War & Genocide, Farmed & Grazed anywhere they wanted, took all the land they could, and behaved like greedy thieves.
The British Crown had decapitated and displayed heads for years before 1700's. Henry VII and his daughters Mary and Elizabeth I. Even before then, beheadings and displaying the remains was not unheard of.
Good video with one important exception. At no time during these events was there ever one French resident in New France for every 10 British residents in the American colonies. The ultimate outcome was always somewhat obvious.
Good presentation. The audience must also understand that the French were much smaller in number than the British - 50,000 to 75,000 versus 1.5 million. Food was always an issue for the French. New France never grew enough food to feed itself and had to rely on shipments of food from France. This is why more regular French troops where not sent from Europe. In fact, at one point there was discussion of sending some back because of the strain on the food supply. British North America did not have this problem and they were a major food exporter. Also, because of the relatively small population the French-Canadiens were much more willing to interact with the native americans than the British were. It had become a pattern as early as the mid-late 1600s than many young French men would leave the settlements and live with the native americans, marry women, have children etc. There were British settlers who did this but they were much smaller in number.
What is the purpose of titling this video "American Revolution". Fort Duquesne was during the French and Indian War. And it was beaver, not deer, that was the object of the French.
It Was friendly until the set up forts and cities and towns and gave indication of staying and settling and fighting snd pushing the indians off the land and taking it from them!!!😢😢

Brilliant documentary enjoyed this
Excellent video. Two thumbs up
True, Historians rarely fully consider geography or understand how geology impacts history.
To many of us, it’s the most important thing!

👍👍 Thx. 😊😊
The river ways eventually lead to a port and the ocean which was good for trade with Europe and the resources
At 20:26 should be 'up the river... not "down the river"
Alan Gutchess sounds identical to Bill Belichick.
😂 he’s definitely the Bill Belichick of history.

Excellent insight!
Don't forget the sale of the Louisiana purchase and the idea of manifest destiny
Is Alan Gutchess related to bill beliecheck? He sounds just like him and his mannerisms r very similar
And the fur trade made Astor a rich man at first the trade was a friendly trade with the indians
American blood for this country before it was america
Good video. It’s obvious here the host of the show knows more than the expert he’s interviewing 🤣
What is the purpose of titling this video "American Revolution". Fort Duquesne was during the French and Indian War. And it was beaver, not deer, that was the object of the French.
Also, the French and Indian War was a part of the spillover of the seven years war raging globally.
Good history for early American colonization.
Europe thought they had a right to 6his land before it was the usa
