  • Yokohama Winton 300 at Winton Motor Raceway - 3rd December 1989
    The Winton 300 is one of Australia’s longest running endurance races with its’ origin in 1985. It was a big year for the ‘Nation’s Action Track’, not only hosting its first round of the Australian Touring Car Championship, but also the first Winton 300. Initially conceived as a production car racing, it has evolved through many eras and rule changes since that foundation event in the mid-80s.
    Welcome to Winton Motor Raceway, Australia’s iconic motorsport circuit established in 1961. Located just 2.5 hours from Melbourne, an hour from Albury Wodonga, and a stone’s throw from Benalla, the track is easily accessible off the Hume Highway.
    Winton Motor Raceway is available for hire 7 days a week for Racecar Test Days, Private Track Hire, Car Clubs and Events, Vehicle Testing, Corporate & Trade Events, Weddings, Birthdays, Seasonal and Milestone Celebrations.
    The venue facilities include:
    118 Garages, 56 Carports, Fuel Shop, 1,000 sqm Corporate Showroom Building overlookinng Turn One for seating up to 750 people, 300 sqm Drivers’ Briefing Building for seating up to 200 people. Catering facilities and spaces.

    Wow! Fantastic. With Ian Taylor and Tom Naughton (with Evan Green). Loved Ian and Tom's commentary at all the Victorian circuits as a kid back in the day.

    Great racing, BMW 325 or Astra GTE16v might have made a competitive car?
    Touring car racing seemed to loose its way relative to this.

      It sure looks like television coverage. The 80s and 90s had all sorts of great motorsport coverage!

      @@robossuperchannel9434 That explains it. I watched the broadcasts avidly back then and 7 never covered the Winton 300. I remember driving down from Sydney to watch the 1987 event in person.
