I met Luis when he first came to Vermont. I helped him carry a couch into his new house 😁 He autographed a picture for me, and couldn’t have been nicer. Top man
Went to Vermont on vacation last year, my favorite place I've been so far in my life. Absolutely wonderful state. Doesn't surprise me that Guzman has a place there. Nice taste
I freaked Luis Guzman out so bad one time in NYC. I was walking out of Bloomingdale's and he was walking south on the opposite street. I spotted him, caught up and from my side of the street, yelled as loud as I could..."Pachangaaaaa"....The look on his face when he turned around was priceless. He was spooked at first but then I yelled it again, not as loud--and he got it, laughed and waved.
Luis Guzman in Boogie Nights was awesome. The amount of talent in that movie is almost unmatched in any other film since it was made. It's a great film.
I was only 12 in 1976 so I saw the world through my much older brothers. Watching Boogie Nights was like a time warp. The cars, music, cloths, the way we connected with each other- the stash of VHS porn I found hidden in my brothers room. Long live Chest Rockwell and Brock Landers!
i knew i had to watch this movie..so glad i did because it shot straight up there as one of my all time favourite movies,i even bought a brand new rental copy on VHS the day it came out to rent (back then rental versions came out three months before you could buy a copy at the store) and it cost me £59,i loved it that much.. last week i paid £3:99 for a Prime copy
I just saw Boogie Nights for the first time earlier this year and it was such a great movie, it really did capture that era in southern California. Luis Guzman is an asset to any production he's in too!
I love Guzman. The first movie I remember seeing him in was Anger Management. He was outstanding in Code Black and I was SO disappointed when that got canceled. For me I will always remember him for playing the roll of "mama".
Carlito not taking his advice to finish off Benny from the Bronx still pisses me off. Carlito lost his respect & later his life because of that decision.
Met him years ago when i worked on an off broadway show when he did "Cuba and his Teddy Bear". Robert DeNiro, Burt Young and Ralph Macchio were in it...I was a stagehand, and Luis was the nicest most humble actor I've ever met....a true professional and a credit to the Acting world....he never forgot where he came from
it's very highly-rated for an indie! Definitely not as underrated as you make it out: It was an ensemble cast!! It got nominated for everything! Burt won for best Supporting!
"You know it be's that way sometimes papi." Edit: Just watched the video. Vigo is so underrated in Carlito's Way. Glad he mentioned him. He stole that scene.
I'm actually happy to see this guy doing well and he seems happy. People today seem to think celebs need to keep going forever until they burn out or die, but this guy seems very grateful for his big career and the severed head from Traffic is hilarious. I hope he lives a long time and is happy.
People like him, Joe Pesci, and other older actors who you dont see much anymore, are still LOADED!.. They made smart investments with their money, and most of them are still living great out of the publics view.
@@GeneralBuckNaked that's good. Too bad guys like Tom Brady and Will Smith didn't go do the same. It's almost like most celebs get sucked into this vicious cycle and then self destruct. God and family should always come first. I wish them the best. Keanu Reeves is another one who made it super rich yet lives modestly and appreciates people and has given like over 100 million to charity (real charity, even stuffing cash in donation bins and helping homeless and other folks). Keanu suffered profound loss in his life and I think it humbled him but he was already a good person to begin with.
one of the great character actors of our time...people forget he was in the one and only season of "John from Cincinatti", which was VERY underrated and dismissed. Great cast, with Rebecca DeMorney. Bruce Greenwood, etc. And his most underrated movie has got to be "Q&A" with Nick Molte and Timothy Hutton.
This guy is something...men he is so talented 👏 he can do it all, camedy drama, action been the good guy, the bad guy and he is so down to earth 🌎 God keep blessing him and all his family, esoo ehhh 😁
I love everythg he does. He is such an amazing actor that puts realism into what every project he is in. I am glad I ran into this video , i wish there were more interviews with this fine actor.. Luis needs to be recognized more for the roles has done. He has made so many iconic movies that now that I have watched this podcast I am going to rewatch.. the first one I think will be Boogie Nights , that one was pretty risky for the screen when I first saw it. It was exactly like the time period tho. I remember wearing the clothes, saying the same type of slang and wordings . Again this interview brought back so many movie memories, but sadly I WISH it had been much longer. The host of the podcast did pretty good with the questions, but again you need to follow up with a Part 2 as i know not just myself but other movie viewers would love to hear more stories from Luis..
He’s 67. And I’m not (YET). But happy to say I grew up at the theater watching him from his first flick to his last. Now that I just read that back, I’m NOT happy. 😣
Luis is one of the those rare actors that cause me to say, "I didn't know he was in this, this is gonna be great." That's what Luis Guzman brings to the table.
He is very much like a Philip Seymour Hoffman RIP in regards to never being a lead but being a very memorable character in everything he is in. My personal favorite character and one of my favorite movies was when he was the line cook in Waiting. Till this day I try to reference "The Goat" or "Batwing" in some form at least once a week. Having worked in restaurants when I was young that movie represented the atmosphere of a commercial kitchen quite well and the bad behavior wasn't even that overly exerated.
@@nekitamol1k242 yes you are correct I should have worded it differently and not used the word "never" I just never had envisioned my words being interpreted in such a literal absolute Manor. I grew up in Vermont and met him YEEEARS ago as a teen...he was super friendly and didn't seem bothered me and my buddies recognized him and wanted to say hi in Montpelier.
my favorite movie that he's in is called "welcome to collinwood" from 2002. man that's a great comedy and really a gem that not too many people seem to have seen. so if you can go see it!
He kills it in everything I've seen him in, great actor.
Absolutely
The real deal !
Including shopping. Saw him in a TJ Maxx department store a few days before Christmas in South Burlington, Vermont. His cart was maxed out...
He was the best part of the movie Waiting.....
He knocked the role of a Shooter Boy out of the park.

Met him a few times super nice guy
He made “Waiting” so much better than it could have ever been without him. “Now take the time to appreciate this” 😂😂😂
As someone who worked in restaurants in the 80's 'Waiting 'is the most under rated food service movies of all time. A masterpiece
“The GOAT”
"Aw bro that aint right man." "Oh it"s so veeiiny."
5 second rule!
The Bat 🦇
Luis Guzman is like a Puerto Rican Joe Pesci. He's got a smaller stature and can bring the comedy and drama within the same scene.
Fur Q
I love how he says "I did not know that was Al" like he was testifying in court.
That’s a good comparison.
And talks like Mike Tyson.
One of the all time great character actors.Never disappoints in any of his roles. Some people just make a movie better.
I’ve always loved Luis Guzman. I’ll watch anything just because he’s in it.
Guzman is legend. HE was also great in his brief role as an escaped felon in "Out of Sight" with George Clooney.
I love that he's held down at gunpoint, about to go back to prison, and he's still trying to figure out how a magic trick was done :D

how would you respond if someone yelled at your back, DANCE!!! or LETS PARTY!!! lmfao. he probably thought someone was about to jump off!😆
Rick Aviles who played Willie in Ghost was in Carlito's Way. He was in the pool hall scene.
I was just about to mention that fact. So they were both in Carlito's Way!!!
The Count of Monte Cristo was a fabulous movie
His best line ever is from Traffic…Shh, I think they’re conspiring to conspire. Classic. 😂
classsssssssic film.
This dude is a LEGEND. Iconic!!!!
FANTASTIC actor! He improves every project he's in. Solid actor.
The Limey…loved his role in that!

Definitely not as underrated as you make it out:
It was an ensemble cast!!
It got nominated for everything!
Burt won for best Supporting!

@pretzelhunt Burt was nominated for Boogie Nights but lost to Robin Williams for Good Will Hunting. Tough year.
He was unbelievably underrated in Ghost and did one of the best villain performance to be ever recorded in films! Respect to the talented Mr. Guzman
but that wasn't him. It was Rick Aviles
Luis Guzman didn’t play Willy Lopez lol. That was Rick Aviles, different Puerto Rican actor. People thought he did.

So good to see Luis in the finale of Justified: City Primevel with Walton Goggins. Small part, but huge actor.
