- Finally uploading the video of me showing how and where to get all those elusive fiends in Shin Megami Tensei IV. As you can see, in some cases I used the "DLC method". If you want to read the information about the fiends in more detail, here's a link for you:

Nearly a year ago, I posted a comment saying how Black Rider should've been at Ginza for irony. Just recently, I realized that all the Fiends have something to do with their location. In addition to all the areas being disaster areas in some way, there's also something specific:
Chemtrail: The demon is based on a conspiracy theory involving airplanes and toxins. His area is a park, one of the most prominent outdoor public gathering spaces, that is surrounded by a poisonous lake. He also uses Gun moves, which reflects the idea of mankind killing themselves both he and Plasma embody.
Matador: Probably the weakest reasoning here, but I think Matador being in Toyosu has a hint of irony to it. Toyosu is the most arenalike of the spawn areas, since unlike the identical Tennozu, there's absolutely no one there - which itself is the irony.
White Rider: The Gaeans in Ginza believe that if you can get a Black Card, you're an extremely powerful VIP. White Rider represents Conquest and is in the Black Card only area.
Red Rider: Kasumigaseki was the main base during the war between the CDF and the demons 25 years ago. Red Rider represents War.
Black Rider: The residents of Tennozu have been eating some fishy meat. Black Rider represents Famine.
Pale Rider: Minami Sunamachi is a wasteland to a greater extent than anywhere else in the game barring Blasted Tokyo. Pale Rider is the Fiend closest to Death, and the rampant poison corresponds to his secondary theme of Pestilence.
Trumpeter: In Revelation, the seven Trumpeters were the heralds of the beginning of the end of the world. The game's plot truly began at Kiccigiorgi Forest, where Trumpeter spawns.

Black Rider should've been at the Ginza spawn point. Considering the insane amount of money and tedium needed to get there, having the chance to be greeted by a guy who opens up spamming Wastrel Beam would've been hilarious in its own twisted way.

finalsurvivor1 really? I naturally had the money for this quest throughout the game by selling expensive items and relics. Didnt have to grind at all.
But there is a money DLC too if one really wants to go that route
Maxwell Stein Depending on how you play or do New Game Plus, you may not need to grind; that's true. Still, the process of getting all the cards is really annoying, especially how you have to run back an forth through a long poisonous corridor numerous times. Also, one of the enemies in the area (I think Nekomata) has Macca Beam, which is always a fun time.
I liked IV, but it has a lot of flaws. The Ginza Card Gathering is one of them, and I'm really happy Apocalypse simplified Ginza to only require the poisonous corridor for one round trip in the story and give full access to Ginza from the start, with a simple late game quest unlocking the high-end stores.

I beat the game without using it. I knew it existed but I didn't find it particularly useful. And if I remember correctly, you need to streetpass somebody with the game to use it.

I hope in SMT 5 you can actually find them easier than the random bullshit in smt 4...
Apocalypse did it right tho although the dungeons was a bit annoying.
In all honesty I hope the fiends can spawn at anytime just to give you a quick reminder of what game series you are playing

Shinies are much rarer but yes, you are right.
the DLC method is kinda viable for only Chemtrail since it's spawn area is REALLY far away from the world map

If you die to a fiend, pay Charon
Save after respawning
Now you can infinitely reload just before it spwans (its set to 100% after you die to them)

Hey there I'm recently locked into neutral route and wanted to ask if by any chance would you show how you fused your demons against red rider (: cause I'd like to grind away as well haha
Red rider was an absolute pain to fight for me, it took me 6 tries!
i would love the chance to fight one of these fiends yet that 1 in 256 chance is to much for me.
800 hours of game... Still, havent found anyone, but chemtrail and David. That's why I am here.

How did you get your stats so high? On my second run (hard), not sure if I should pump all into magic or swing some into ag/dex.

They're pretty easy fights if you're prepared

Man I've been trying to find trumpeter for 2,5 hours but that guy hasn't appear. I found all of the previous fiends (Black rider, red rider, pale rider, matador) in less than 1 hour. I'm in neutral route. Maybe I ran out of luck.
So I'm just after the point where I cleared out the forest due to the story. I went back to the forest to grind since I thought I should get stronger before I moved on with the story. But then I got the warning from Burroughs. I thought at most it was just a hidden boss that may just be a bit stronger than me. It was Trumpeter and he OHKOd my team in one move. And apparently the fiends are rare spawns and this was my first time entering, so I got REALLY unlucky here.
1/255 chance, if I remember correctly. You can repeat it as many times as you want.
Also, if the fiend killed you and you paid Charon to revive you, the fiend will still be there.

can you fight these things on your first playthrough, im up to the end of the law ending, and have done just about everything besides fighting david and beating maskuado shadow form, is there anything else i need to do or should they already be in the game?
They are in base game. Though you cannot fight Red Rider cuz he is only available in Neutral
So I’ve read the guide in the description but still have a question: are demons that don’t have anything listed in the cycle prerequisite obtainable in NG+?
All of the fiends are available in NG+. It's just, some of them are exclusive to a certain route. Red Rider, for example, is Neutral route exclusive.
I'm doing the neutral path right now, on NG+ (Law Path first run). Should I hunt the fiends before the final bosses, or do it later? I'm definitely going after the Matadors accessory because I heard it pairs well with some gear in Ginza, giving you no weaknesses.
If I recall correctly, all fiends give something extremely good. Heck, even their fusions alone are worth hunting them. As for the best time to hunt them, that's up to you. I'd say some of them are more or less as hard as Merkabah/Lucifer, so not sure if you want to beat some Fiends to have easier time with them, I don't think it's worth it.
Well, for non dlc content, they're the hardest of the game. If you want to tey the DLC content, they would be a most to have it easy with Beelzebub (non DLC), the Archangels, The Young of the sun, The ancient of days and Masakado (DLC all of them, also, the best DLC of all SMT)

Yeah, I don't get it either. Sometimes you NEED a physical/magic attack, sometimes you need a lot of MP etc.
How long did it take you to find each fiend? Also, does red rider respawn infinitely after you defeat him?
Sorry for late reply. 1. Don't remember. Some spawned fast, some - not. 2. Yes. You can beat any fiend as many times as you want, they respawn infinitely.
Why do you need to reload a save file each time? Does just leaving the room/area and reentering not work?
Also, do they only spawn in the Law route?
I'm not sure but I think loading the save file is faster.

Fiend encounter rate is 1/256 (i don't really understand how it really work but chances the fiend to be spawn was 0,4/100 if it's oversimplyfied) some people say the Strat to trick the rng is save and reloading but IMO it's doesn't really that work tbh
Does trumpeter become available after the Walter/Johnathon split, or only after the Alignment lock?
As far as I can remember, the fiends are available after the alignment lock.

I don't quite remember. Maybe I just forgot what weakness he had and didn't want to risk making him smirk. :D Or maybe because Desperate hit gave myself smirk quite often, so I took advantage of that.
@@ArtFenixAsordis Fun fact. Chemtrail's AI is dumb. He will target low HP demons with his normal attack even if they repel Phys. So, if you had a vulnerable to Gun demon out, and a repel Phys/Gun demon out with 1 HP, you almost never have to heal vs Chemtrail

Matador, White Rider, Red Rider, Black Rider, Pale Rider, Trumpeteer since its the fusion chain

Thanks! I got all Famed demons too. xD And I got all Fiends TWICE because I have 1 3DS for just playing and another 3DS for capturing videos and since both of them are European, I had to buy the game (and DLC) twice, beat the game twice (for all endings) and get all the Fiends twice. Insane.

Yes. That's how you max out your stats and make stats bars gold (Red Rider grinding).

It's been years, I don't remember the name))
But it's a regular helmet, not a DLC and not something from endgame or postgame. Pretty sure it's sold in one of Tokyo underground districts.

The game doesn't (there are some implications but nothing concrete) but my video does.
ArtFenixAsordis That's terrible! In 30 years time when the internet has completely forgotten about SMTIV, there will be no way to find out where the fiends are! We'll all have to buy the strategy guide... You need to keep this video up no matter what my dood

ArtFenixAsordis You did a good thing, but I still think someone should print out some photos of their locations and put it in a time capsule. Their just so obscure for a game from like, 2013...
There are some screenshots of the exact locations, you can find them if you click the link in the description for this video. There's a great guide with detailed description and screenshots. ...if that's what you meant by "photos". :)
Why do i remember there being one more fiend, low level, in the cave system from the beginning of the game
David. But he's not a secret fiend, you cannot miss him and there's no trick in unlocking him.

Yes, he only appears on Neutral route, that location is locked on all other routes.

No. You dont. You can do Fiends on 1st Cycle. Only after Alignment Lock. 1/256 Odds. Some Fiends are only available on some Alignments

A fact that isnt known about 1/256 Red Rider is that Chitchat and Chitchat + works once per battle vs him.
Good way to get Doping + buffs up for a headstart.
Ok, do I have to be on my own for this? I've prolly reloaded my save about 100 times now. And I have yet to encounter Trumpeter.

@@ArtFenixAsordis I did look this up before: "All the fiends can spawn as soon as you have access to the area they're found in, except for Trumpeter who only starts spawning in the Kiccigiorgi Forest when/if you regain access to it after being locked into your route."
@@RetroFanatic-Trapster2 I don't remember the details, unfortunately. If you've been following the guide, then it's just bad luck - the fiends have 1/255 encounter rate if I remember correctly.
@@ArtFenixAsordis Apparently it's after the alignment lock. I did a bad ending first so I could get a quick NG+. Then I plan on going Chaos -> Law -> Neutral. So Trumpeter would be unavailable this time.

Getting perfect skills is somewhat luck based indeed when it comes to famed demons. But if you just want the demons themselves, it is totally possible, I got them all. Also very much luck based though.
I didn’t fucking know you actually had to WALK to the spot where they spawn in. I ended up just reloading the map as soon as I entered because I thought Burroughs would alert me of the Fiend’s presence as soon as I entered. I’ve been wasting the past few hours pretty much.

@@silentfanatic bad luck. Did you do it like in my video? You should soon encounter the fiends. I maxed out Flynn and Demonee-ho stats by doing Red Rider grinding and believe me it took FOREVER. Sometimes, it would take a few hours just for 1 spawn. Sometimes he would spawn once every 30-40 minutes.

Makes no sense when you realise merkabah is helping you defeat law demons
Later than any smt protagonit at preventing the apocalypse, but the key there is mastema: he says that the archangels have gone rogue, and are overzealous to the point to actualy not beeing following god, but erroneously going down the "if we do this, then god will found that everything he wanted has already been done and done better".
Since the fiends are a punishment for sins, they are not needed in the sinless word they are goong for

Does my team need to be Level 99 to fight these guys on Master difficulty? Because I'm fighting Chemtrail right now, and the motherfucker is chewing up my entire team of level 75, 82, and 92 team and spitting them the fuck out on the first damn turn.
You can low level:
Chemtrail (use 1 demon with 1 HP and Repel Phys, it breaks Chemtrail's AI)
White Rider (keep a single demon out vulnerable to Elec, the other 3 party members should have null or better)
Black Rider (just have 3 party members with Ice resist, that's it
Fiends that can be beaten at Level 70+:
Red Rider
Fiends that can only be low leveled in Prentice:
Pale Rider
Matador
Fiends that can be low leveled but require a ton of Macca
Trumpeter (fuse as many demons as possible that have no Light resist but carry Endure and Enduring Soul, and 2 demons with Debilitate and Sabbatma. Requires Neutral route to get Masakado for Enduring Soul)
