I grew up on this stew that was prepared at least once a year with my aunts and uncles all bringing something to throw in the pot. And when I say pot, it was cooked in a black kettle pot over an open fire and my uncle and father would take turns stirring it until it was done. And there was always cornbread and desserts made by my aunts. And there would always be lots of it leftover for each family to take home. Yes, I'm southern and this brings back good memories.
I agree that is one of my childhood favorite dish growing up on the farm from the 60’s to 70’s with butter 🧈 biscuits or cornbread and sitting by the wooden stove 😊👏🏼♥️👏🏼
This sure does make me miss our childhood, especially during the holidays, with Mother in the kitchen. She would be so proud of you for carrying on her traditions in her recipes. Watching you cook is the next best thing to seeing her in the kitchen. Love you, sis. Merry and Blessed Christmas to you and all of the family.
Y’all, I have the sweetest sister . She has always supported me and my channel and she has done whatever she can to help my channel grow. After the first of the year, I am going to have her on so yall can meet her. She is a great cook also. That is something our mama taught us.Thanks little sister. I love you🥰
I love the football reference, you two are adorable! I haven't had any grandparents in 26 years and you make me feel like I'm at home with your videos. Thank you for introducing me to that stew and to that potato sack! I wish all the best to you and your family in the New Year!
This sounds delicious Gramma Rose. How good will this be with some hot cornbread on a cold winter day? FYI: you failed to put chopped onions on your written written recipe.) Just saying....
Thank you so much. Just an oversight. Most of the time I am giving the ingredients out of my brain, and sometimes my brain goes on vacation 🤣🤣.. I will edit it in. Oh My! If you put hot cornbread with it, it will take it over the top 😋😋
Since I definitely HAVE to eat “ Low Carb “, I would have to leave out the potatoes and the corn. I miss both, but it must be eliminated since my meals MUST be low carb . Looks delicious, though !
Yes, definitely. Roy and I try to eat, low carb load, so we are allowed a few potatoes and a little corn. Not every day, but every once in a while. You can try adding another low card veggie to it..Happy New Year❤️
@@grammarosesopenpantry2729 My reason is because of raging diabetes. Lately I have learned of “ Resistant Starch “. Cook a potato…..refrigerate it after cooking. THEN, eat a “ small amount “ and it will not spike blood sugar. It DOES help, if I am careful. Thank you !❤
@@grammarosesopenpantry2729 As much as I LOVE homemade Brunswick Stew, since I live with diabetes, I think I choose LIFE over eating some corn or potatoes in my Brunswick Stew. So…..LIFE is my choice. But, you folks with NO diabetes, ENJOY to the hilt !❤
Mama never put limas in her Brunswick stew. I put them in my vegetable soup, but not my stew. We do love limas though. I know they would be delicious in it❤️
God bless you! You represent Him so wonderfully.
Thank you so much. It is because I love him so much ❤️

Roy read the same thing the other day. I use my canned potato’s sometimes, that we grew in the garden, and it works the same way.
