I completely relate to the desire to live in a walkable city! In uni i lived in a very small town where you could walk to pretty much anything you would need/want. Now I live in a major city also is very walkable and I just can't imagine living any other way! It improves your quality of life so much to be outside, getting a little exercise, being around people, etc etc. I'm so happy for you!
Good luck on the move. I totally get the desire to live in a walkable city. After moving to a country with great infrastructure and public transport I don’t think I could ever live in the US again. Going wherever I want by bike, train, bus, or just on foot feels so freeing 😇
I enjoyed you talking about wanting to love in a walkable city and not being comfortable driving. I can really relate and I appreciated you sharing that.
One of the things that struck me when I've visited the US (LA especially) for work was how unwalkable everything was. I'm from the UK and I was very used to be able to walk 20 mins to a local town with shops or at least a corner shop where you would see a lot of your neighbourhood on a regular basis to interact in any small way. It was so weird to me that it was so difficult to get from A to B in LA without a car. I don't drive and found it difficult to do anything without having to uber.
UGH!! I miss the UK! I was only able to be there for a few days and loved it so much!! Everything so accessible and easy to get to!!! In LA like while we ~can~ do transit it's terrible and will take ages to get anywhere, so the ubering is kind of a necessity and so expensive T_T
Duuude, I'm also embarking on a move back to the east coast this year. Originally from ATL and moved to WA. Not in a city anymore and I'm not moving back home, but there's something so special about the east coast. I've been gone for about six years and I can't wait to be back around the specific autumn smell. Halloween just isn't the same over heeeeere lol.
wow I didn’t realize how much I missed nyc until you talked about moving back 😢 I haven’t lived there in over 4 years but I’ve been thinking about it a lot recently. I’m in Montana now and I’m so glad to have the changing seasons like you said, and I don’t think I could give up the mountains, but I think it’s time to book a trip back to visit ❤
i love videos like this, if it isn't too much you should definitely take advantage of moving and create moving vlogs, packing everything up etc. I adore your studio vlogs and cant wait for those, especially in your new space! i wonder if Brooklyn will have any influence on your art, if you'll create some seasonal pieces as the seasons change!? Loved this video
I'll do my best!! Sometimes moving vlogs can make things a little stressful but I'll try to film as much of the process as I can because it's nice to document :) And I hope so!!! I tend to make a lot of art influenced by my environment so we shall see :)
catching up with videos you have made atm, I feel ya about being away from family I did that right out of animation school for work and it was so hard to be away from them! The next job I got close to Toronto I was so happy to move back home. I also agree about driving, I learned to drive a bit late in life so I'm not the most comfortable with it so living in a very walkable area close to a subway has been so nice. Also I loved just watching you clean up so much fun!
This was so cozy to watch! I also think it's super cool that you get to live in a walkable city. I've lived in rural and suburban areas my whole life so even just imagining being in walking distance of everywhere you need to go just boggles my mind and is so neat 😂 Best of luck on your move, I hope it's as low stress as possible!
Totally get your reason to move back to a walkable city. I lived in Korea for 5 years and loved being able to walk every where and just having everything so close. I moved back home a couple of months ago and I don’t drive (driving is so scary to me) so it has been soooo hard to adjust to being back even though I love seeing my family everyday. Relate so much to wanting to hang out with friends but not wanting to depend on people. Hope this move is everything you wish for.
thank you so much for your comment!!! omg cities in east asia are like next level walkable :') I miss the transit in Taiwan and Japan!! & yes why the heck is driving so scary I hate it!!! Sending u sooo much love because all of this is so relatable. Hope your situation improves and you acclimate to your new situation soon
I totally feel you on the walkable city part. I‘m from Germany so the cities are walkable by default and I couldn’t imagine having to drive everywhere I wanna go. I‘m 24 and never owned a car bc it’s more unpractical than useful here. I feel so energized and independent when I‘m outside, I also don’t like driving so I definitely relate to you. I hope it brings you the quality of life you are hoping for 💐
omg I got to spend around two weeks in Germany when I was in college and loved it SO much. I was in Berlin and Stuttgart and loved all the transit and how easy it was to get around!!! Also all the community centered streets/city planning just made me feel really good. The feeling of walking around outside on your own is SUCH a energizing and fun experience :') and thank you!!!
@@MeganWangart omg so cool glad you enjoyed it! 💕I love Berlin as well I‘m from Darmstadt it’s near Frankfurt and pretty close to Stuttgart 😊 If you ever come back to Germany you need to check out Heidelberg, it’s been untouched by the second world war so it looks incredible. Sadly Darmstadt and Frankfurt were destroyed by 98% 😭 wish I had a historical city center.
love this vid! so good to hear that you're making a move (lol) that would help to better your quality of life. super excited to have your presence here in nyc and hope the move goes smoothly!!
7:59 the random things you find when cleaning up an art studio, often not art supplies but lost items you have been searching for for months😝 completely understand how you feel after the car accident. PTSD can really effect things (not saying you have PTSD, it can be one reason why people avoid cars)
It's worth talking to someone about it, people can develop PTSD if feeling threatened or in fear for your life. Exposure therapy and talk therapy can help a lot.
I've dealt with the fear/discomfort of being in cars for many years after a bad accident as a teenager, and I hope you are able to one day get past that feeling. It's not easy, but don't let anyone invalidate your discomfort in the meantime either! Happy (early) return to Brooklyn!!
thank you!!! this means a lot :') there have definitely been moments where someone's invalidated that feeling for me!! so this is really reassuring, THANK YOU
I really like videos like these as well as ur regular studio vlogs. Living in a walkable city is so nice, and being near family is so important, I live far away from my family and miss just seeing them for lunch and not having a week once a year of intense interaction lol so def relate.
I completely understand what you mean about the walking thing. I’m also 25, and I can’t drive, so my options are either walking or public transport. I used to live in the city, and I could walk EVERYWHERE. I would genuinely prefer walking for 40m+ to a destination than having to catch a bus. And I no longer have that since moving to the suburbs - I’m stuck either having to wait for a bus, have it take much longer than friends who are driving to where we’re meeting up, or I have to ask someone to drive me and I feel like a burden. I would love for Australia to have more walkable communities, there is absolutely no rhyme or reason to NEEDING to drive just to go to a grocery store or library! Or schools - there’s no easy way for most children to get safely to school, because all of our city planning centres around cars. Not having walkable communities fucking sucks.
Yes this exactly!! Sometimes friends will offer to come fetch me but I feel like a burden and hate asking. There's just so many more obstacles to seeing people and being social when you're in a car centric area.... and I TOTALLY AGREE!!! I was in Europe for a little while and was dumbstruck at how many walkable areas there are!!!
I did the same thing! Sort of. When I was 23 I moved to San Francisco from Pennsylvania. almost 10 years later, I moved back to north western PA. I do miss going from walkable to not walkable. Missing the seasons was HUGE for me, too. It's been so wonderful being back in that. Have a great move!
I didn't realize how wonderful seasons are!! Especially growing up with them to not having them anymore it's really made me appreciate it in a new way!! Also so happy for you!! & thank you so much!
Great video! Your relaxed manner and pleasant voice made it extra enjoyable! Good Luck to you in moving back to New York! You provided great reasons for why you are relocating! It took a lot of courage to expand your experience in moving so far away from home after college for awhile, but like many of us realize in time, there’s no place like home! Wishing you the best always!
Me too! My city is so hard to walk around but I really don't drive so i am also having really hard time to get around by walking. Definitely can understand the part you don't want to ask Robert to fetch cuz that is just not for long term... Walkable City is so luxurious!! So many benefits tho

something about the heftiness of apple boxes makes me think i have to keep them forever :x i literally just threw all mine out last week coz my partner was like YOU DONT NEED THEM

Taking a day for just drawers is genius!! My drawers are the same way 😂 congrats on your decisions both moving to l.a and back! I hope there’s a moving vloggg!! I LOVE moving vlogs! 😅 Odd question…your monstera..what is that pole in the middle called and where can I get one? ❤
It's called a coco coir pole?? i think?? they have moss poles but I'm pretty sure my pole is dead and this is made of something else. I got mine off of amazon!
I'm still hoarding my Pikachu happy meal box too lmao. I loved seeing yours in the background because it made me feel less silly about keeping mine. xD
awwww haha, well if its any consolation robert is keeping it so I will probably have this box with me for the rest of my life!! We actually went to McDonalds JUST for the box. The people at the drive through just handed it us it with no food inside. hahahaha
Maybe its just me, but I watch content for the person and to see them, whatever they happen to be doing. The format of the video doesn't even really register to me. Even if the format and content is wildly different video to video, there's always consistency to me in that its the same creator, so I enjoy it anyway. Does that make sense?
I love videos like these. Makes me wanna organize my desk too! Car accidents are very scary, so I totally get the reason for moving. Moving to a walking city will be so great for ya! I've always wanted to live in a small, walkable town. Also, what is Claudia's @? Her little cards are very cute
We just bought our first house together and I’ve been packing as well. I finally decided to release all the Apple boxes that I didn’t curate to use for packing small items like jewelry and washi (several decades worth 🫢). I was terrified that someone on the street would open the recycling bin and decide to raid my house for the electronics! As a former Californian now living in the Northwest I feel you on losing seasons and for some of us, the California dream is a paragraph in our lives rather than the rest of the novel. I’m so glad you took the chance on this adventure in your life and can’t wait to see the unpacking at the other end!
Omg, Congrats!!!! That's so amazing, I hope the move is going well and you settle in well too!! And wow, that's such a poetic + lovely way of putting it!! It's definitely been a sweet chapter but I'm ready to for the next thing :')
I think emptying out drawers and making them all neat and tidy might just be the most satisfying form of decluttering 😍✨
I agree hahaha

It's called a coco coir pole?? i think?? they have moss poles but I'm pretty sure my pole is dead and this is made of something else. I got mine off of amazon!
@@MeganWangart thank youuuu! ❤️
The people at the drive through just handed it us it with no food inside. hahahaha
@@MeganWangart I went just for the box too lmaooo. But I did purchase the happy meal for my 32-year-old self to get it. ahaha
Loved this video!!! Would love to see more of these chatty videos and studio vlogs, or anything you would organically like to show! ❤
Also loved the organization/declutter content
Wow I was about to not declutter my studio but then I saw this and was like maybe I should HAHA
HAHAH get rid of ur dried paint tubes >:)
i love this video!!! ⭐️ i watch your videos while i make art / do admin for my own shop and it’s like having an artist buddy hanging out with me 🤍
Idk if this was asked already but are you moving to New York with Robert and your kitties? Or is it just going to be you? :o
Robert and the kitties are coming with me! We’re all moving together :)
@@MeganWangart ahhh so glad! Cosmo and Rover are gonna be city bois haha. Goodluck on your move! 🫶🏼
The death grip apple boxes have on us is real.
FOR REAL!!! why do i have my iphone 5 box from 2016 still.. WHY T_T
The only reason I keep my electronics boxes is to sell them later in the future to get a newer version
Maybe its just me, but I watch content for the person and to see them, whatever they happen to be doing. The format of the video doesn't even really register to me. Even if the format and content is wildly different video to video, there's always consistency to me in that its the same creator, so I enjoy it anyway. Does that make sense?
Didn’t you guys just bought that apartment? Or am I mistaking you with other people?
not us! I moved in here a year ago and we definitely rent HAHA I wish I bought an apartment xD
watching this made me finally throw out my airpods box, like why do i still have this box?
hahahahaha i'm proud of us :')
I love videos like these. Makes me wanna organize my desk too! Car accidents are very scary, so I totally get the reason for moving. Moving to a walking city will be so great for ya! I've always wanted to live in a small, walkable town. Also, what is Claudia's @? Her little cards are very cute
It’s @helloclaudiiia on IG! And thank you so much 💓
@@MeganWangart Ty! And yes of course! ❤️
