Halving the Bloon speed does make it more than 2x easier because not only does it effectively double every tower's attack speed, ability cooldown speed, etc., it also increases your reaction time.
And like ISAB said, it is way more than 2x better for some towers, like Tackzone. 2x track length may mean that the Moab isn't on top of the Tackzone, thus reduce the damage of it, mean while 50% speed make the bloons guaranteed to be on top of it twice as long. Even with the track overlapping, the Tackzone even run out of buffs during the time the bloons return on top of it.
Wouldn't that keep it 2x easier? If tower attack speed/cooldown rate were doubled but reaction time remained constant, that'd be less than 2x easier. Likewise, for the tack zone MOAB case, halving the bloon speed is 2x easier (twice as many shots land on the MOAB), whereas doubling the track length is much less than 2x easier. The clumping-bloon effect for maximising pierce is the only reason I can see that it'd actually be more than 2x.
@@Felix-sl2hw That's not how it works. If EVERY bloon is at half speed they aren't clumped. Clumping happens when some bloons are faster than others. Edit: I forgot about the fact they move less between each bloon spawn, so yes, they are more clumped. Sorry
At around 3:00 Isab mentions the bloon speed helping the tacks more and later mentions how track length would only effect global towers. I went to think about what helps both just as much and thought for a second longer to realize that the bloon speed helps both and I needed something to help only short ranged towers and not global towers. I landed on track shape which has no effect on global towers but can help maximize limited ranged ones. Global: track length Limited: track shape Both: bloon speed (Idk if I’m right or there’s something I’m missing but it’s what I got)
Track length can affect non-global towers as well, depending on where the extra length is being added. But I suppose that would fall into a combination of track length and track shape.
i think a "re" run would be cool. you could get REcursive cluster, faster REload, RElentless glue, symphonic REsonance, even REactor, pRE-emptive strike, bloon aREa denial system and permanent bREw
Clumping can be a good or bad thing, but it allows you to play around it. Half speed in general will be far more than twice as easy if you capitalize on it by using high pierce AOE attacks and long cooldown powerful abilities. Set distance knockback towers like MOAB Press and Giant Condor also get far stronger than 2x.
Yeah, I think Ethan Reid made a video about the increased ceramic Primary Expertise damage. Doesn't give it a jungle drums buff. ISAB did a video on the exact same ceramic buff, no Jungle Drums.
really love the Sentry Export upgrade. It's so unfortunate that the upgrade usually just a step up stone for Sentry Champion. Really love the unique aspect of the tower. This tower needs more love.
Ok, isab, i can't believe you don't know this, but 400 engie is a HUGE single target increase over 300 engie, as the yellow turrets have massively increased MOAB damage. It's also better to crosspath it as a 402. All of them. For the cost of +1 damage to moabs only, you double the pierce of all engis attacks and turrets, on top of all attack types applying the 002 crosspath's stun to all small bloons. During the 80's and above, majorly moabs will spawn, and yellow turrets will be the priority spawning turret. But, once the moabs are cerams - a lot of turrets will be wasted into being red turrets instead, which deal with cerams faster. You can have much less red turrets spawn if your yellow ones have better pierce, since they also shred cerams if they are given the chance to
About half speed making things twice as easy: It's hard to determine in bloons, cause where does the difficulty come from? Is the hard thing saving up? Is it ability timing? Finding the correct tactics? Remembering rounds? Micro? Now, it's a bit of all, but what does half speed help with? Saving up for a big late-game upgrade becomes a lot easier. And once you have that, you win. Ability timing gets a double as large window, while the halfed speed also makes cooldown times cool off faster. Micro becomes a lot easier. So I'd definitely argue that halfed speed makes bloons more than double as easy.
For all of those examples the effect is the same as having double the track length, which makes the game twice as easy depending on how you define "easy"
@@meepilee7991Double track length raises some other issues, namely the range of towers. A lot of stuff is not twice as strong simply because the map is double length.
I think what really makes it more than twice as easy is the fact that bloon speeds are slower on lower rank bloons. So you’re getting more than twice the time to fully pop a bloon cause the lower rank ones will be in range for longer. This is most relevant for early game but that’s usually when these challenges are hardest anyways
One more thing that makes it more than twice as easy: tower projectile speed is unchanged. Which means it is more likely for tower to snipe and actually hit bloons, such as glues that always whiffs or bombs etc. Even primary expertise sometimes misses so yea, reliability of towers also went up a bunch
At any given point in time a 50% debuff to speed does make a certain round at least 2 times easier, but there is a reason why slowing bloons is better than making the track longer. No matter the track length, a tower with limited range will attack for the same amount of time. If you slow bloons by 50% the said towers (like a tack shooter) are not only given double the time to attack, but it's also harder for some of them to miss (like dart monkeys and such). Which already makes the potential damage bigger than 2x. Another thing is that towers having double the effeciency means you can save up money easier which causes a snowball effect.
An interesting challenge might be to only use towers that have a slowing effect, such as glue, permafrost ice monkey, and bloon sabotage. If that's too challenging then you could add full stun towers like bloon impact and then like
You might be right about the half speed being more than 2x easier, and it pretty much applies to any tower with small range. If you played against a 2x hp boss or 2x speed boss, the 2x speed boss would be harder than the 2x hp boss simply because it could go out of the range of your towers quicker
What matters for the tack is how long the balloon is within their range and with halved speed it simply takes twice as long to pass all the way through the tack's range
Half speed is effective half as difficult, because the tacks effective track length is everything it can hit. If it covers 2 seconds worth of track for simplicities sake, then that now takes 4 seconds for any half speed bloon. Technically, half speed is better late game (compared to half health/double damage) because you have a chance to go from 1 ability and half cooldown, to 3 abilities in one round. Which if that is your only dps such as first strike, it does 3 abilities worth of damage than the half health example where it effectively does 2 abilities worth of damage. The only example I can think of where you’d rather half health is 1) layer skipping on something like the bad so no ddts, and 2) technically snowstorm and AZ doesn’t slow the bloons, they set their speed to a pretty low one. That’s less valuable the slower the bloon speed is, and I think hurts if you’re at minimum speed as they’re forced to go faster
You should do a challenge with towers with "of" between words, like ray OF doom, or legend OF the night. There are probably better ones that aren't the most expensive towers in the game, but surely there's a few.
making bloons half speed makes it slightly more than twice as easy, since it clumps together bloons and allows towers to maximize pierce per shot better. i think if you doubled attack speed that would be actually twice as easy (or maybe not because abilities). doubling damage would also be more than twice as easy because of layer skipping (but layer skipping also makes it harder in rare cases....)
Love the nonsense tangent he goes on about half speed being over 50% better, while hes playing on workshop so the bloons are actually faster than 50% speed 😂😂
@ He was pierce capped basically the entire game. Pierce is moab damage. And yellow turrets already have a moab damage bonus, so the +1 relatively isnt doing as much
When you talked about halving the balloon making it more than twice as effective; I actually agree with you ISAB. Lets say you have a tower with 1 pierce and 1 damage. This tower has enough range to hit a balloon 5 times as it moves by. If the balloons had half speed lets say you could hit that balloon 10 times. This is twice as effective if you are just just going up against 1 balloon, but once you go up against more than 1 it changes things. This is because once you pop the balloon in front you are able to hit the one behind it. You can think of this as a horizontal translation of the balloon. This means the more times you are able to pop a balloon, the more balloons you are able to hit. With 1/2 speed you are able to pop the balloons in front making it so that tower is able to hit more than two times as much when you are met with an array of balloons. So you were correct in saying the challenge is more than twice as easy, and the crazy thing is that I was thinking about the exact same thing before you brought it up in the video. I think I've watched so much of your content that I'm starting to think like you XD
The only case I can think of where 0.5x speed is more than 2x easier is with a tower that doesn't usually pierce cap, like a mortar. Since the bloons end up being more clumped, it gets more damage per shot, and twice the time to attack.
