In everyone's life, no matter how horrible a life it may have been, there was at least one person, at one time, that was kind and sweet to you for no reason when you needed it the most...when Kat Edmonson sings this song it reminds you of THAT feeling. Of being in utter despair and someone came along and offered you kindness, sweetness and asked for nothing in return other than you partake of the goodness they offered. Now..THAT'S a song, and THAT'S a performer. Thanks, Kat.
Its not that she has a great voice, its that her voice does a sincerely great thing by just being sincere. The orchestration is so fragile it fits her voice perfectly. Kat is a mindful musician with a ton of creativity and class.
@@scottbrandon9390 Haha Yes!! I _always_ get a Stacy Kent vibe from her, and a Kat Edmonson vibe when i hear Stacy lol.. They are both awesome in their own respects. Loved your comment!
I have been a musician all my life and although I've always sought music that is touching, it is very rare for a song/singer to completely disarm me. This voice and these lyrics have. Thank you Kat for making me feel again. :)
I'd never heard of her before, and having just recently discovered her I have become a fan. And of her several renditions of "Lucky " my favorite has to be this one!
Found cat edmundson long long time ago on Austin City limits thought then how remarkable and unique she was think over from time to time and I always go back to Lucky me lucky you what a beautiful woman with a beautiful voice makes me want to dance again
Apparently it's been 6 months since I was on this site. What I said below still stands for me. If this doesn"t take you to a very sweet place, just you, inside your head, well, ya just need to keep listening. Very few songs " lull you" into this place, a place of kindness and sweetness since you haven't known since you cuddled with your grandparents. Thank you, again, Kat.
I got hooked from Cafe Society...Her voice is absolutely addicting! I used to do this thing where I'd pair rainymood with jazz songs...her voice is just the perfect thing to listen to on a rainy day with tea/coffee and a book.
Kat sounds great on every video, but Austin City Limits showed us the most beautiful Kat Edmonson. Not only visually, but the audio on Kat was supreme. My #1 favorite.
I saw this yesterday and can't get it out of my head... in a good way. I bought the album today and enjoy it all, but this version is just spectacular.
I caught this on PBS just clicking thru Channels the other night and WOW I was mesmerized right away; there's something about her not just her beautiful smooth voice. I'm a fan thanks PBS
I only heard it on NPR yesterday... I literally pulled off the road to listen "LOUDLY"... I only heard the middle of it and had to search internet.. Wow! I'm with you this version is THE BEST.. Now I will have to listen to Stacey Kent. I don't know her... I love Joanie Sommers, Thanks for reminding me!
For Amber Carrier.....this song always makes me think of you. I hope you will," meet me at the rainbows end. We dont even have to pretend that we know what it is we are looking for" I have found higher ground, Im no longer lost at sea. Love You Brad. Your Friend Always.
First discovered kat as I found many that I really enjoyed listening to on Austin City limits I want to say she was with Martina McBride not 100% on that but from the first time that I heard her music I knew she was singing the lullaby for my dreams and champagne song is my very favorite
There are a lot of negative comments for some reason. Well I love this song and her delivery. I first heard the song on a movie (I just can't remember it now. It might be Admission) and I thought it added to the film and made you think about your love ones. I purchased the song, but I like this live version better.
I love Kat Edmonson. I love most of her 'live' work and this is no different. However, being a songwriter, I know that there is a certain way the Muse brings you her gift and it is a formula. It is a formula that makes the song a sonic engram that attaches itself to your energetic anatomy. Thus, you remember the 'hit' song. Artists, having sung their 'hit' songs over and over, tire of the original formula, and do some improvisation. Sometimes this can work and creates a grander product. Other times, is creates something like this performance. I so much prefer the original formula, which makes me think and feel innocence, joy, and lightness of being.
How I love this video - I'd like to get the Austin City DVD of Kat - but can't find it yet. Now I realize not only does Kat remind me of Joanie Sommers, but also Stacey Kent. Of course Kat is a force all her own. Thanks.
A pixie. A fair maiden, not a guise, but a genuine talent. She offers a proper relief from the synthesized barbiturate of what passes for today's music. We need more of her, and less of the commonly-accepted insultingly bad.

Randy Washburn what do you mean she doesn't have a great voice? It's beautiful! Old fashioned. One of the "greats".
Its unique and ya shes sincere , i believe every word she sings
She reminds me of several other jazz singers, including Stacey Kent.

Look at the crowd's faces ... they're all enchanted. So am I.

First discovered kat as I found many that I really enjoyed listening to on Austin City limits I want to say she was with Martina McBride not 100% on that but from the first time that I heard her music I knew she was singing the lullaby for my dreams and champagne song is my very favorite
