Thanks for sharing this video. I was born and raised in Costa Mesa and lived all of my 18 years there. I recently just moved to Florida half a year ago and miss it sometimes. So many great memories. Thanks again for sharing.
Miss CostaMesa lived there 30 plus years but the high cost of living there forced me to relocate my family to TX. I miss the weather n every thing there.was a feeling home sick so I looked this video up.
I loved this video. I used to live in Costa Mesa from 2000 to 2002. I met my wife there. I worked at Domenico's Italian Restaurant on E 19th. We used to go out a lot to Goat Hill Tavern, Yardhouse etc. Favourite eating places were In 'n Out, Taco Mesa, Cheesecake Factory, etc. So many great memories, thanks for this video.
Much hasn’t changed on the Westside. The arco on 19th n placentia is now a “Speedway” gas station, and the shell across the street is now a Mobil. Other than that, the area hasn’t changed much
19th street was always poppin . I was always around that area when I was younger . Now I live on the north side of Costa Mesa, still nice and a bit calmer
I have lived in Costa Mesa for 44 years and I would love to know how you got rid of the traffic, did you take this video during the lockdowns, or do you have some kind of filter that makes traffic disappear because this traffic sure does not represent Costa Mesa at all. I love living here, and I really miss the Coco's we had at 17th and Irvine years ago, and the Panera Bread that was on 17th street, but we still have Side Car with the freshest doughnuts in the world. I wonder how many people remember Sally who used to have a hot dog stand at Teewinkle softball park.
I have lived in Costa Mesa for about 21 years and our tour car did pass by my apartment complex. Here is some fun facts. The average retiree in the US makes about 1500.00 a month which happens to be approximately the lowest price for a small studio or small one bedroom in all of Costa Mesa . Right now the average retiree in the US cannot obviously live here now if you are a single person. What will be the lowest price of the cheapest apartment in Costa Mesa in about only 5 years from now? How many single retired individuals will be able to live in Costa Mesa in only about two to five years from now?
@@soundwriter3083 🤢. No thanks!! It’s an inferno in the middle of nowhere with derelicts, vagrants, and transients. You get what you pay for! CA has its problems but it doesn’t make sense to leave for bigger problems!
I have driven down these streets thousands of times lived here since 1968, way to expensive to live here and I have been trying to move for six years maybe next year! sure yah right
Totally disagree lol - I was yelling - go left! go left! I've seen a line of cars there, 10 or more, where you could easily merge from 17th with almost no cars waiting to turn right. I usually turn, drive by the row still sitting there and in my head go "ha-ha" (yes sounding like Nelson). Kind of depends on the time of day too.
I took a quiz online and the results said for me to move to Costa Mesa, CA. Really? So then, I read editorials about that place and it says $80K a year is low income there and that the average salary is $97K a year for a single person. Guess I won't be living there.
that is not fair,, you need some of our LA Homeless,, your need to block off your sidewalks with tents and let them crape in the street. it not nice to keep all those sidewalks just for walking and jokers. you need port-a-potties on street corners,. you have the warm weather .. we in LA can help you with 20 bus loads of our homeless each week, it is not fair that you don't share your sidewalks as we do our beaches and city streets,, Do your part, help the panhandlers and drug dealers to get your kids hook on junk...
Wrong very walker friendly, I've lived here since 1982, expensive yes! with very nice neighborhoods, which should have been shown especially on the East side. I'm only a few minutes in.
Nothing boring about it, this video didn't show, the neighborhoods, the parks, walking trails, nice restaurants, performing arts center etc. Also, we're only 10 mins. from the beach.

It was a Nissan Versa, but yes. A true picture of Southern California driving.
Yup
In the next episode, we will travel through Tustin, CA!
So many places I haven't seen in years and haven't changed much. Wish you could've turned right on 19th street from Harbor towards Placentia.
Much hasn’t changed on the Westside. The arco on 19th n placentia is now a “Speedway” gas station, and the shell across the street is now a Mobil. Other than that, the area hasn’t changed much

Also me: *one day earlier - "Damn 17th St traffic lights! I hate this road!"
Can u make a video in visalia, cali?
Attended orange coast College in 1967
like how you cut across 2 lanes at 4:25 to merge to the right.
That was actually a smart move though. Trust me, you want to stay away from that whole 17th/Newport/Superior intersection. It's a nightmare.

Oh, they have home less. They wander the streets during the daytime...
costa mesa seems so very boring, a cookie-cutter of suburban America. Not walker friendly.
Because Costa Mesa is so crowded
Used to walk to a friend's house from school and it was like 3 miles. Never had any trouble. Probably depends on what part of the city ur in
Parts of it are, especially in the area of The LAB
