The other day, i put 10 ply tires at3 coopers and my fuel economy shot down still trying to figure out what the new average is thinking 18mpg. Looking like the tires make these little engines get great better fuel economy
yeah the 4cyl in all the new trucks don't really make sense if you're actually going to tow. especially if they're direct injection. I know Ford specifically had issues with gasoline getting in the oil system with their gdi engines. kind of turned me off owning anything with gdi. for longevity I'd get an under-stressed V8.
The 2.7 MPG is disappointing. After short test drive, I was impressed with the power and low RPM of 1650 or so @70 mph plus the two cylinder shut down. The engine doesn't seem to be stressed so why the low MPG?. You are right, the turbo is thirsty.
Great review! I have this truck with the 2 7 motor. I love it! I wanted this engine. No way I would get that 8 cyl with all its issues. I would rather drive my truck, not have at the dealer getting the engine rebuilt!

I honestly prefer the Golden Chevy Logo. So many models have the hollowed out black logo which can look nice on the right Color vehicle but starting to find it overused
They can keep it,same with the new Tundra. interiors are subpar and the 4cly is with that mileage makes absolutely no sense, the turbos will have issues and the smaller engines with the turbos will work harder.
I sold my 2021 ford & bought a 2022 Chev 1500 Silverado with a 3.0 diesel. I sold it after 6,000 miles, I loved the motor the truck is like putting a 3.0 diesel motor is a western flyer kids wagon. I would encourage anyone that is thinking of buying a Chev 1500 test drive it for as long as you can so that you will get a good feel for the truck. I agree that you should get the V8 it's not worth the $1,500 difference to get the four cylinder and I think you'll probably take at least a $1,500 hit on your resale if you get the 4 cylinder
You hit it on nose you tested a pretty loaded truck people can afford. For fuel economy would go with 5.3 didnt like all the rattle interior .i have 2019 rebel air suspension it doest rattle .your right comes down personal preference tim

The 3.0 is the engine to get. I have a 2021 and its awesome. 22 to 26 in town and 30 to 34 on the road. And 2023 is coming out with 5 improvements on this engine. The thing keeping me from trading is Chevy dropped the shadow gray. That's our favorite color. It I can't get the shadow gray then I will drive the 21 I have. Check just lost an old long time customer. Bye bye chevy. You are color blind.
No doubt Sam. The 5.3 V-8 is well worth the $1500 increase in price. Really GM, a 4 banger in a full size truck? This is a move by woke engineers who should not be in your work force. Put real men back in the powertrain dept.
@@HomeGrownPyro1 I know what he meant, but it was a bad analogy. The engine is a 4 cylinder, however the engines are entirely different, in size, and internals, and power.

Very nice review, as usual. Boy 52K for a 4cyl truck? These prices are brutal.
It actually costs less than when this current model came out in 2019. Inflation.
If I lived at high altitude, and needed to haul more than tow the 2.7 is almost an easy choice over the 5.3. My only issue would be the sound.

Exterior, instrument cluster, Google Assistant, touchscreen, mechanically it's identical. If you bought a 22 with the 5.3 option.
I think the 2.7 ecoboost with the 10-speed auto is a better powertrain combo ... you can also get the 2.7 ecoboost with a 3.55 or 3.73 axle !

Remember the air is real hot out that means the air is real thin. Less compression in the engine and is slower power.
Idk why people don’t give this engine a chance, it makes the same horsepower as my 2008 v8 Chevy but like100 ft lbs more torque 😅
