@@noonehere6994 I'm so glad you asked, since Lucas has arguably the safest projectile in the game and using pk fire limits what Kazuya can do to approach, especially if the Lucas player knows the wavebounce fire. Another thing to note that freeze can catch Kazuya offstage pretty easy in his recovery. Kazuya suffers against projectiles sure he can reflect but Lucas pancakes on his fire landing animation so no matter what, he cant get his fire reflected unless he's right beside him/ non jumping fire. And lastly he's forward air is so broken and so damn fast and yes your right he does have a significant grab range advantage so I'd say he's pretty favorable in the MU. Edit: PSI Magnet also heals roughly 30 percent for Kazuya's neutral b and it's slow and if they do it offstage or when Lucas is recovering it's kinda an easy heal
@@Wista13 by the time the pk fire comes back reflected, the pancake frames are already over not to mention it doesn't get him low enough to avoid it in the first place. Grab and Zair by extension... sure yeah that's one of the best in the game I'll admit, 1 point. However, his throws don't start combos from 20% and the throws don't start killing center stage until like 180% which is *something*, I guess, but not the best throws still. It's only the range and the Zair that's good. Magnet, I mean, you can maybe bait it out and get 30% back ONCE in a whole set and the opponent will never use it again. That's not much considering a best of 5 gives you 15 stocks to work with in total. So that's only 1 point for lucas so far
@@Wista13 what all this means is that Lucas is very awkward at mid percents on stage, not able to start any damage combos OR kill confirms. As you can see on this video as well, pretty much all his kills are EXCLUSIVELY off stage. Having your opponent off stage means that you are in the advantage state. Once in the advantage, making kills are easy and this is the norm -- it doesn't mean your character is better than the other. The only on stage kill out of 12 total kills he made was at 10:39 where he jab locked. One. OUT OF 12. And even that is not something unique to lucas anyway. As you may know basically all characters have jabs that can lock (jabs without this are the outliers), so this is not something that bumps lucas up the matchup advantage. Kazuya? He can start kill combos at any percent at any place, on stage or not. Just needs to get in on the opponent which is easy to do since lucas is not the most powerful in terms of camping out the opponent. Please also note that out of kazuya's 11 kills in this video, only ONE was off stage. And let me tell you, over half of the on stage kills were disadvantage state reversed kill confirms. Being able to start kill confirms IN THE MIDDLE OF disadvantage is most often than not a privilege given to few characters. If you do not want to admit that kazuya has this privilege, you must at least agree that Lucas has no unique tool to get him out of disadvantage states -- this is very much common knowledge and even the commentators already have underlying assumptions about this.
I think it says a lot about how hard Lucas is to play at top level when one of the best Lucas players in the business occasionally misinputs his DJC zair in bracket. Lucas mains practice it SO MUCH and still often flub it up. Its crazy to see the level of consistency Nitox has with the character.
